  • the trekking pole could also be a fairly straight stick. same with the stakes

  • Great Setup. Easy and fast. Thank you.

  • This is great! thanks you. I am going to try it out.

  • my hiking pole won't stand what the heck am I doing wrong

  • Awesome! thank you

  • excellent. refreshingly well done.

  • no bean mejor el canal de jjsupervivencia

  • would it be possible to take the two grommets at the front corners (where the door is) and tie them to the opposite middle grommets on the sides of the tarp and create a sort of flap door to the shelter?

  • what about some sort of door if it starts raining or its windy i want an answer please i love this idea

  • So... freaking... easy. Genius! There's even enough room in there for a disco ball & my girlfriend's big ass! I can't wait to do a Brokeback Dutch oven on her! It's gonna be SICK! Thanks again Will!

  • @wedigclassics Since this thing is so freaking simple, there has to be SOME way to over complicate it. How about throwing a casualty blanket or solar blanket down, underneath it? Then it would be perfect!

  • @wedigclassics Hilarious. Seriously.

  • Great explanation. Would love more 8x10 setup instruction videos.

  • quick and smooth

  • Great video, I am planning on getting a tarp now.

  • MAN I LOVE YOu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tanks for that vid it realy realy helped me :D

    i subscribed to :)

  • booo to tents, Hurray for tarps

  • Excellent =) u need an applaud!!

...ahhh...well i actually clapped at the end of that .... just so u know...lol

  • bugs

  • Can anyone recommend a cost effective lightweight 8x10 tarp?

  • Favorited. Nice, no nonsense set up.

  • nice

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • Best/easiest tarp setup ever, period.

  • I love your video... thank you... That was simple, direct, and useful. I'm saving your video.

  • does it work especially in very strong wind and rain?..

  • does it work especially in a very strong wind or rain?..

  • Very cool.

  • Good to know for the first TARP SURFING 24 hour endurance contest planned for May 2011. So the Helgs can snooze (tarp-nap).

All that will be allowed on the slab secret location are the TarpaQ Teams,Tarps, Rides, Experienced Tow Dogs, Registered Tarparazzi, Porta toilets & H20, Jury of judges, No Snobtarpos Allow!

  • Like it !

  • awesome simply awesome.

i'll post a video response on the one i make tomorro night :)

  • way better spoken than bushcraftonfire's. ~Sub'd

  • Excellent subject matter and presentation - informative and quick without a lot of unnecessary verbiage! 5+!

  • Many thanks for this video. Now I can use any old tarp plus any wooden pole I can cut anywhere and set everything up according to your fine instructions.

  • That is beautifully simplistic

  • great vid, thanks i will use your set up when i camp in the bush on motorcycle trips

  • Tarp origami. Very cool !

  • @brinksbury I just watched another video with the same set-up. The guy said tucking the back corners in will give you an area to store gear off the ground incase it has rained/wet. Makes sense, which if you have a ground cover, it could overlap the tucked in corners for extra protection

  • that is pretty cool but wat i it rains

  • quick and efficient - thanks.

  • can someone telll me why you tuck the back corners instead of staking them out?

  • @tzcook I was just thinking the same thing.

  • Thanks for the info,,,,,,I usually use a 4 foot branch to hold the front up

  • @hamptonify shut up you cant get free or discounted tickets to things like i can. you probably don't go camping everymonth. you need to stop cyber bulling

  • Great design would it work for a normal heavy tarp

  • What is the length of the trekking pole?

  • i tried this yesterday ,

i paegged one back corner out and folded one so i could test the two methods, i woudl peg them out, just a little extra room for kit,

  • 24 Ounces?! There are tents (Real bath tub, bug proof tents) lighter than that, hell there are a couple 2 man tents almost that weight (Gossamer gear and TarpTent to list a couple).

  • @knarfster Yes but what else can you use those tents for? The nice thing about a tarp is that it has tons of different uses.

  • The nice thing about a tarp is that it is a lot more versatile...

  • Simple and Great! thanks for putting this up, tfa

  • That's awesome dude! 5stars!

  • thsoe two corners are gonna be flapping around on a windy day unless you put weight on em.

Might as well add 2 more stakes to stop the flapping and increase room under your tarp.

  • awesome , will use the advice about the alignment in my construction tnks!

  • thanks that was reely helpfull

  • man that was cool, thanx

  • wow. looks so simple. I like it. good job. you need to make more videos. simple and to the point. awesome

  • Thanks guy, this was great.

  • This May sound stupid and it prob. is but what about bugs at night Biting and stinging. Please tell me how to fix this and if it sounds stupid.

    Thanks

  • get a rei minimelist bivy. only adds 15 oz to your pack, eliminates bug probs and if it rains everything but the pace area is water proof. theres a no-seeum mesh at the face. it doesnt add warmth, so its not too hot. used mine last night and not a single skeeter bite. Hate those thiongs! oh yeah, their about $85. realy cool

  • good set up but not very windproof. right? eh?

  • well done, thank you.

  • great idea this will be handy for next month cheers

  • Well done. I've been looking for this vid. Thanks so much. Hope you post more soon!

  • That looks pretty friggn cool. Don't even need a hiking pole. A good straight stick would do the job.

  • sweeeeetttttt now i dont have to take a tent

  • ehh 8 x 10 feet?

  • Thank you friend, this is an excellent configuration. :)

  • Cool, I'll try this next time I camp

  • doesn't look like much space for two people

  • Thanks for the great video. These tarps are awesome for the money.

  • I learned something new with pinning the back stakes first but not on the back corners. Then using those as reference to position the front stakes. Thanks!

  • Yeah! That's fast easy and light.

I've tried it out and my first guest was my dog :-)

  • A fantastic video !

  • excellent! very straightforward. can the doorway be closed tighter in inclement weather?

  • nice, K.I.S.S. simple is the best way.

  • that's the best tent iv eva seen, very good man

  • thnx very simple and effective.

  • awsome

  • nice

  • A simple video that is full of GOOD USEFUL INFORMATION! Great Job.Would like to see more like this, straight and to the point.

  • impressive

  • hmm.. on second thought think ill keep my dome tent, these tarp tent rigs cant keep mosquitos and other creepy crawly bugs off of you when in the woods but a dome tents screens can protect against them, a tarp like this would require a bug-net plus a sleeping bag to be comfortable in the elements, nice set-up though. =]

  • Awesome... I feel a bit foolish now since i bought a small dome tent 2 weeks ago just to keep the rain off me out in the woods, i could of kept my $38 bucks and bought a 6 dollar tarp they had there and used an old piece of tubing that is sitting in the basement as a tent pole, But i wasnt thinking in *those terms* when i bought the tent, it was an impulse buy, think ill return it! =]

  • This is a very useful video. Thank you very much for sharing it!

  • I've never seen that set up before. Gonna try it out.

    Thanks for posting.

  • winds get caught on it , just wrap yourself with the tarp

  • Ive done that a few times on cold windy nights, seemed the best idea at the time but always regreted it next day when i woke up cold and wet because of condensation.

if its windy wet or cold u can make a small triangular tube with tarp on all sides + ground, block an end with whetevers available, crawl inside and block the other end behind you.

  • Excellent quick setup.

  • wat happens wen wind gets caught in it?

  • nice im going to try this, thanks!

  • then what is it ?

  • This tarp is an 8x10

  • 8x10 feet, right ?

  • No, completely wrong.

  • that is the simplest, fastest and most effective way ive ever seen a shelter put up. probably he most cost effective too. this is my new set up for ground shelter. THANKS!

  • japan is burn our tents

  • Very interesting and practical setup, with wind great protection. I think this will be my setup, now on !

    Thx !

  • I wonder....

If i glue 2 tarps together would one side work well as a floor in that setup?

  • don't glue them. That would be a waste. Just use one as a ground cloth and leave it unglued.

    Tom

  • I experimented with tarps but just didn't get the point. You have to be very careful with your siting to keep water from running onto your groundsheet and getting you wet, or blowing in through the front opening and getting you wet. Probably you want to use a bivvy sack with this to have any chance of staying dry in the rain, at which point you might as well buy a tent because you're up to the same weight as something like a Eureka Zeus single-wall tent.

  • Very nice job

I'll just have to try that now

  • looks like a good storm will blow the whole thing over after I get bit by all the bugs. I rather carry a wedge tent with a full floor.

  • is tarp the same as lona?

  • hmm it look good but make it a little bigger

  • works the same with the bigger tarps too.

  • very nice. sure beats that super expensive "special" nylon tent thingy on some of those camping websites. i think i'll try that.

  • I've tried using a tarp as a tent a couple of times (years ago) with no luck at all. Wish I had known your techniwue back then.

  • This is definitely the tent set-up I'll use on the PCT next year... thank you!

  • very impressive content and presentation -- much appreciated!

  • quick, light, simple and effective - I'm impressed!
