  • good surgery

  • Hello Dave, in my case, I only felt the discomfort for about a week. My doc prescribed me some panadol with codeine for any pain that may arise, that's all. As my doc is quite experienced and good in sewing, the scar looks very faint now. In my opinion, you should seek a second opinion. That's only my 2-cents worth advice. The final decision is yours to make. Happy New Year....white Xmas in London eh?

  • I have a lipoma slightly bigger than yours in the same place which is slowly getting bigger. My doctor in England is reluctant to remove it as he says the scar tissue that will be left will be just as bad and cause a tight pulling feeling just as bad as the lipoma itself. Do you have any problems with your scar or still a pulling feeling where the lipoma was?? Look forward to hearing from you. Dave.

  • @halifax1106 Thats odd, I have had my lipoma removed from my lower back about a year ago and the doctor said it was the size of a babies head. Now I'm not a medical expert or doctor, I myself can vouche for my post surgery scar tissue healing quite nicely and feel no tight pulling even when leaning forward. Maybe search for a second opinion possibly? Could depend on placement though, good luck to you :)

  • It can happen to anyone. Regardless of race, language, religion or size.....Cheers

  • do you have to be fat to get lipoma or can skiny people also get this?

  • very interesting. How did you know its a lipoma before cutting it out? Is it possible to do the exact same technique on a subcutaneous neurofibroma? I am wondering if a subcutaneous neurofibroma look exacly the same? just cut on the surface and excise them out? Or they are more inside the nerve tissue? Im talking about the "subcutaneous neurofibroma"

Can they identify if its lipoma or neurofibroma after they squeezed it out? Can u squeeze a subcutaneous neurofibroma as simple as a lipoma?

  • i had one in my right shoulder blade removed on the 5th march 2010 and my scar from the oop has gotten worse where it starts to bleed 1 year after the operation

  • i have got a large lipoma back of my shoulder im too scared to get it removed as the doctor said i will have to have a general anaestetic to have it removed does anyone know if they are harmful if there not removed???

  • @lindafr14 My opinion: Although lipoma is just a piece of fat, Doctor will always encourage you to remove it just in case (there's a slight possibility that) it becomes cancerous. It's good to remove it for aesthetic purpose as well. Don't be afraid. Only slight discomfort after the surgery. Of course, the final decision is yours to make. Regard

    :)

  • @theZENproductionz ...Not to worry Sir. You'll be out & about in 2-3 days. Wishing you speedy recovery......Cheers

  • Well done. Excellent presentation.

  • you didnt show cutting the cord!!

  • Hi i have a Lipoma in the same place and about the same size do u think i should have it removed also i would like to know if lipoma can make u gain wight form time to time as i am a very fit woman and always on the go doing something but unable to lose my wight

  • @sexyann123abc Hi Ann, although lipoma is a piece of fat, there's no scientific research as far as I know that correlate it with weight gain (which has alot to do with personal diet, family-related genes and exercise). Nonetheless, my opinion is that you should have it remove for aesthetic and health reasons. Just my 2 cents worth. The final decision is yours to make. Warmest Regard...

  • Hm, I think that is what I have too.

I want to be pretty sure it is, before going to the doc. Any suggestions?

  • @Nopiw

Hi Buddy, just go ahead & remove it. In time, it will definitely grow bigger if nothing is done. Just my 2-cents worth. The final decision is yours of course. Best regard....

  • "Ahh! They took my freakin kidney!"

  • @whocares601 After the surgery they woke up in a bathtub full of ice and a thank you note...

  • I would love to watch this live..as I have a obcession with squeezing things such as pimples and black heads for people ....I feel as if I am cleansing the pores, it's a clean thing ya know..lol

  • Wow, I hope is was benign.

  • @Snaarley It would be. The incidence that they become malignant is officialy defined as "very rare". It fact there is no proven study where these have any more chance of becoming cancerous than normal tissue.

  • You have my blessings sir/mdm. Be brave & don't worry a bit. You will be just fine after the op. Good luck....

  • @chesterchevie

Thanks, can't wait to get rid of them :)

  • @chesterchevie heya mate i have the same lump in the same place...how long did you have it before getting it removed?...thanks!

  • @avau77 G'day mate, took me 1 year to find out. Often ignored it due to busy schedules until my family doctor & my masseuse (LOL) advised me to go for a serious check-up. My opinion: Remove it ASAP before it hinders your movement or spread elsewhere (where it might give cancer a chance to develop). Surgery is almost painless. No worries. Cheers

  • @chesterchevie thanks alot mate....am gona get it sorted in the next 2wks...

  • @avau77 All Z Best matey. You have my blessings....Bottoms up!

  • I'm having 5 of the removed on monday the 31st. 3 on my right arm 1 on my left arm & 1 on my stomach.

  • @barsa527

You have my blessings sir/mdm. Be brave & don't worry a bit. You will be just fine after the op. Good luck....

  • I am glad it's not only educational but helps alleviate your concern too. Most importantly, once you have appointed a confident & experienced doctor, just leave it in his hands. You will be fine as long as you are under anesthetic. Good luck!

  • I've got one the same size and in the same place and am a little nervous about the whole procedure. Glad you posted this, now I know I know what to expect. Ouch!!!

  • Gee, that was a biggy. Incidences of cancerous Lipomas are really small. So its pretty safe bet that is was lipoma, given they are common on males on the back especially where bone is close to the skin. Its all in the stitching cos they leave a big void that fills with fluid in not properly closed up

  • no issue. some painkillers do the job. cheers!

  • was difficult post-operative?

  • loved it that was awesome, what a pretty lipoma!!!
