Well, the right hand looks like he is hammering and the left hand looks like moving on the piano without pattern. It looks pretty awkward as I described, but the harmony and melody is fulfilled at the same time and his pedalling added more beutifulness.
@thedirtymeatball hadn't heard of him, but i just finished learning the piece and am like : - o jaw-on-the-floor at this guy. tbh the pedal control gets me more than the left hand because it's way too easy for the notes to turn into mush as a substitute for not having enough control.
This is the best version of Revolutionary Etude on YouTube in my opinion. The piece should be performed with intense passion and Bunin did exactly that.
Well performed. But in my personal opinion, Evgenij Kissin is just born to play this piece with his unbelievable technical skills, and his slightly insane temperament. When he plays, it seems that sparks and fire will soon start coming out of the piano.
I know I'll never live long enough to master this song. Notes, maybe, but not the speed. Any pianist will realize this has to be the most difficult piece ever, which is why I so appreciate it. Thank you so much for playing this perfectly!
Why must pianists make their bouncy hair the central focus of the entire performance. The Breck Girl looks on w/envy. I don't doubt Bunin's getting into this performance. Only his hairdresser knows for sure.
Incredible. In five years I've never heard this song played with so little emotion. He plays almost the entire right hand staccato, and barely uses the pedal at all. I know high-schoolers who can play this piece, and play it better than this.
@Ulyenov you do realize the original score had no pedal markings right? So little emotion? What in the hell are you talking about, this is full of emotion, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
That wasn't a mistake, but he does make mistakes at 0:14 and 1:48. Great pianists are not infallible. An expressive performance is more important than a flawless one.
Other than that though he has a really gentle touch if you can hear past the song's intensity. This is one of my favorite Chopin etudes to play; it's simple but loses no impact from it
Chopin came to Austria to study because Poland got too loud what with the Germans stomping everywhere and France asking for more food (polish sausages anyone?). He used this song to retaliate against them.
Una actuación asombrosa tiene mucha fuerza y se notan el sentimiento que salen como un torbellino al tocar cada nota. Esta actuación a sido una de las pocas que me han dejado anonadada.
Ahelphand: What are you talking about?! Even wikipedia says true:
The 12th Étude appeared around the same time as the November Uprising in 1831. Chopin poured his emotions on the matter into many pieces that he composed at that time, the "Revolutionary Étude" standing out as the most notable example. Upon conclusion of Poland's failed revolution against Russia, he cried "All this has caused me much pain. Who could have foreseen it!"
He plays really well... but with all due respect, I heard at least one mistake... then again, I can't play this song, so... ^^; Still really nice though.
i think i found a mistake. 0:13 - 0:15 he plays a chord out of tune
