Bernie Finn is one of the most arrogant people you'll ever meet. His desire to score political points at any cost even at the cost of his own political party make Lib supporters who work very hard to help the party get to the top, just walk away in frustration. Don't take anything this man has to say as a sign of his moral strength.
Now about your comment regarding temporary coma victims, I assume you meant to say "not sentient" which is probably true. But what you are implying is the motivation for 'termination' is that they are not sentient. That is not the motivation when someone wishes to have an abortion, but I feel it is a condition which must be present in a foetus when an abortion is carried out.
The coma victim cannot wish for anything, just as the unborn child cannot wish for anything. This doesn't mean that either of them have less of a right to live
Sentience is crucial because it's what divides living creatures from plants. Plants are living things but are not sentient, so the act of 'killing' plants does not cause pain / anguish etc. The same can be said for a foetus before it gains sentience (note I am not for ALL abortion outright) it is alive but not sentient so if it were to be killed it would not be aware of it, as it is not even aware of being alive.
How very moronic. I love how they forget what happens if some pregnancies go ahead, yes that's right, the mother gets screwed over. But they're far more interested in a cluster of cells than fully formed human life.
Who says sentience, or lack there of, constitutes a right to life? Adults in a temporary coma can be non-sentient too does that mean they can be terminated?
"fully formed" is ambiguous. It could mean "having everything you need to be a human being" or it could mean "having everything a human being ever has". You need two legs to be fully formed in the latter sense. You don't need any legs to be fully formed in the former sense. The organism at syngamy has everything needed to be a human being.

Anaesthetised people aren't sentient either, so its OK to kill them
As for the fetus, it is sentient well before birth.

3 weeks - heart is beating, 7 weeks - fingerprints, 12 weeks- limbs & organs formed. Clump of cells? Stop screwing unborn human beings.

Having fingerprints or a beating heart does not mean the foetus is sentient. Stop screwing born human beings.
