  • i hear like seventy wront notes with the trumpets.. :/

  • that girl 2 seats to your right looks familiar... what state was this recorded?

  • Up until 1:02 It was quite good....it was over 60 beats too slow after that which made it sound completely dragging...Just merely the speed is the only reason for how bad it sounds...the beginning was actually faster than the restof the piece when it should be flipped....work on that tempo..clarinet solo was nice for what I could hear....but only constructive criticism here.....work on an extremely faster tempo..this piece shoudl be bouncy and playful....but could you send me the clarinet part?

  • Come on guys~ I am from Singapore! Great Solo! Every Musicians are smart people and I believe music are played by heart more than educational~ Is a form of ART ya! Clarinet Rocks!

  • I love this piece, I wish my band was given the opportunity to play this. And if I may say, i believe that this was an educational experience for this band. Clearly that how you get better musicians, by giving them music that is challenging. You don't give them music they already know how to play. That's why Foothill band is so good and is respected by so many. They take the risks of playing very difficult music that no one else has the nerve to attempt.

  • Lol I don't care what you think because you're so pathetic you're arguing with a high schooler. No matter how shitty or good I am, I win this argument. =P

  • Unfortunately, this performance was nothing short of an abysmal failure. The director should have chosen a more appropriate level of literature. I simply thank the Lord that Shostakovich, a man whose life was oppressed by Soviet totalitarianism...a man who did nothing but fight to give the people a voice, is no longer alive to hear this.

  • I think you're a pig and you have no idea what education is about, nor do you really understand music. Your moronic nature abounds, and you should not continue to embarrass yourself by commenting on anything here on YouTube.

  • As a Shostakovich historian and professional musician, I am most qualified to comment on performances. I'm sure that other professional musicians would echo my comments. I did not personally attack you. Maybe you should reconsider using the word "pig" next time. It's quite distasteful.

  • You are a pig. It's a high school group, obviously it's a rookie group. You do nothing by providing your commentary, and by saying it's a good thing Shostakovich is dead you were incredibly offensive.

You are not a musician, and if you are, you have forgotten where you came from.

  • I am a professional musician. I have performed with four internationally recognized orchestras. Because I have studied music for a very long time, my comments are justified. I suggest that you more carefully word your responses before spewing anything else.

  • Lol or what, can I not join your orchestra? If you're such a professional, why are you wasting time shitting on High School students who work very hard to become professionals themselves?

Oh, probably because you sucked in all those groups. That's why you were in 4 and not one. haha

  • If you had the opportunity to take a job with a better company at a higher salary, you'd obviously switch jobs. I simply commented on the performance. I chose to respond to your ridiculous comment because I was not going to allow you to childishly throw any other ignorant comments at me. Now to lower myself to your level, I suggest that find something else to do if you are one of those who is aspiring to become a personal because your tone sucks.

  • What professional musician does it for the money and leave their fellow band members? That is not the definition of a musician.

  • @jim7739 You sir are an abysmal failure.Your comments were barbaric and far from constructive. If you truly are a musician of an extensive caliber, then you ought to remember what its like as a growing musician to play a piece a quite out of your league. If your believe that a good musician is simply a pleasure to the ear, then you have forgotten the joys of mistake, instrumental quirks, and the pleasures of learning.how dare you be so bitter and call yourself a "professional". you are far from it

  • Nagyon szép és intenzív. szép zene.

  • Our band is comprised of both veteran student musicians, as well as first year rookies. This was an educational performance, not a competitive one.

THAT'S what my director was thinking.

  • It is clear that this was no "educational" experience. Musical fundamentals, such as tone, intonation, and rhythm, were all but ignored in this performance. "Educational" experiences occur when individuals perform music of appropriate levels to the best of their ability. A lower difficulty level would have yielded much better results, the audience would have been impressed by the ensemble's performance, and the players would have had a true "educational" experience.

  • The audience was impressed, and you're just butthurt now.

  • did you ever think that maybe it's just a bad recording of the piece?! were you THERE to hear the performance? NO. so don't say stuff like that, it's ridiculous.

  • Far form a professional musician.

  • Too slow.....And off alot throughout the song....Sorry guys...Not horrible, but not great either...Our high school played it for state finals (Texas)......between 3:30 - 4:10 the band is WAAAAYYY too loud..it should be "mp"...*sigh*...it almost seems like the volume stays the same throughout the entire song! What was your director thinking???

  • Not bad, but you guys might want to up the tempo a little bit.

  • Our woodwinds could handle it, but our low brass section is entirely composed of rookies and they're really unable to handle the faster tempo that this piece calls for. =\

  • o thanks nick!!!!!! make me fell so great!!! ='(

  • Although I can not pick many individual players out, it is clear that all of the ensemble's sections, including the woodwinds, are "rookies"

  • tempo?

ok...its not easy (i play it on flute)
