@DasKlauer Me too , he rocked ......Jeff Beck's version of " A Day on the Life " was awesome . Gary Hoey was amazing , never seen a two man band so good .
I'm 59 now, and in my time I've seen what I thought to be the best of all the great guitar players. Hendricks, Clapton, Beck and on and on, until last night.. Last night I seen Hoey for the 1st time live, and I can now say Gary is the Greatest Guitar Player ever seen.. 7/12/08 Twin River, Rhode Island.. Incredible free show and meet and greet after the show... What a genuinely nice guy to go along with his unbelievable skills. If you never seen him play it's a must see show.. Awesome Band too.

You need to get out more man. There are 14 year-old kids who can outplay Gary. Feel / writing is all personal taste, but there are lots of other passionate-sounding rock guitar virtuosos out there. I'm going to assume you've heard the basics, like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. If you like Hoey, you must like Satch, as they're pretty similar in overall style.
Yeah, well I will expect tons of hate-comments over this, but Hoey has WAY more feel than Vai and Satriani. And Satch especially sounds like robot. No one has more chops vs feel ratio than Randy Rhoads, but unfortunately he is no longer with us. John Norum is incredible just to name one guitarist. Speaking of "feel", the most underrated guitarist for feel and great chops is Ronnie Montrose but unless you live in CA, his name isn't as big as it could/should be. Gary is simply phenomenal - period.
@borntorun1970 you want a guitarist who combindes feel and chops? Check out the jason becker song altitudes. Incredible feeling combined with fantastic chops.
So awesome of a player, unfortunately underrated. Cool to see him still rockin!

By "the basics" I obviously meant the modern instrumental guitarists who are the most popular, you retard.
