Chad Smith will use his signature snare at clinics, which of course Pearl sponsors, but he won't use them live...he'll usually use a Ludwig Black Beauty, or Supraphonic.
It's something probably already arranged within his contract / endorsement deal. It's almost 'understood' that musicians may have a signature model with a company, but continue to use different brands for other settings or applications.
@usnavy102902 Chad uses HIS sig snare when ever it is appropriate. If you do research on it you will find its a really loud drum. i mean REALLY loud. made to be played in stadiums ect. If hes in a place where the music is not like the Chili Peppers then he wont really need it. If anyone here is a drummer you know that too much snare is not good. Thats why he seems to change it out from time to time. But yes he still uses many other drums. but again it depends on the musical situation hes in.
I don't think all drummers use their signature snare drum or drumset etc. seems like they just help create the equiptment and then let the company put their name on it.
I know Chad never uses his signature snare live, but since this is part of a Pearl and Sabian sponsored drum clinic, that's the signature snare. I bought the DVD and I can assure you since you're able to see it from a better angle !
i woulda gone to this but i was waiting at sidney myer music bowl at the front of the moshpit waiting for them to play the show that night n they showed up a half hour later

Chad Smith will use his signature snare at clinics, which of course Pearl sponsors, but he won't use them live...he'll usually use a Ludwig Black Beauty, or Supraphonic.

It's something probably already arranged within his contract / endorsement deal. It's almost 'understood' that musicians may have a signature model with a company, but continue to use different brands for other settings or applications.

@usnavy102902 Chad uses HIS sig snare when ever it is appropriate. If you do research on it you will find its a really loud drum. i mean REALLY loud. made to be played in stadiums ect. If hes in a place where the music is not like the Chili Peppers then he wont really need it. If anyone here is a drummer you know that too much snare is not good. Thats why he seems to change it out from time to time. But yes he still uses many other drums. but again it depends on the musical situation hes in.

I know Chad never uses his signature snare live, but since this is part of a Pearl and Sabian sponsored drum clinic, that's the signature snare. I bought the DVD and I can assure you since you're able to see it from a better angle !
