I got a chinese crested powder puff, probably getting one naked one to give my boy some companion. At first, I HATED the naked one, but now since I've met a few, I absolutely adore them. I don't like these hairless ones without any hair at all, I want them to have thick , long hair at the head, paws and feet. Otherwise, I dont want a naked one...

In my oppinion they are beautiful, elegant and sensitive dogs that look like little horses.

What a bullshit video!! First of all, THEY DO NOT HAVE SWEAT GLANDS!! They regulate their body temperature like every other dog does!! Second: the ugliest dog contestants are all breeding failures, because some breeders simply don't have brains! Most of those poor dogs are mixes!! Third: skin problems might arise, but can be taken care of by the proper diet! This video is packed with prejudice!!

I own one. Her name is Roxy and she's jet black with a white stripe in the middle of her mane that runs from the tip of her forehead to the back of her head. She kinda looks like the bride of Frankenstein and looks really gothic. I love my Chinese Crested.

The Ugly Dog competitions would not be permitted or would be classed as very distasteful in Australia, I have had dogs living until 15-16 and NONE have ended up looking like gargoyles.

They are NOT prone to skin problems if they are looked after properly, and are no harder than a short coated breed. Also I live in the tropics and sometimes down in the cold and they do NOT need sunscreen and extra warm clothing unless you do....it's really not that hard.

A fairly good story, however still advertising major myths in the breed, which is irresponsible and shows lack of research.

Firstly, this breed DOES NOT PERSPIRE through the skin - it is a normal canine which pants to regulate temperature like any other breed. This is an annoying myth.

Most dogs ARE NOT allergic to wool - this is a myth started in a book in the 60s which ridiculosly went as far to say "wool Kills Them", but like humans anything scratchy or poor quality wool will react.

@Schatteneidechse My dogs don't have the skin problems as said in this video, however the breed used to have some skin problems in the 70s and early 80s, which has been selected out of the breed by responsible caretakers of the breed.

What I do find funny is people saying 'that looks cruel'....and I look at them and their kids....they have less body hair than my dog! They do not have breathing problems, they have a similar hair placement gene as humans and are very robust and stoic.

I have 4 :) I also rescue them. but they didn't talk too much about the puff. In my opinion and experience DIET has everything to do with skin. If it's a crappy diet, the dog will have bad skin.

My chinese crested is a sweetheart, the only bad thing about this breed I think, is that they tend to be nervous - but if they get a good and safe and active upbringing everything should turn out well.

I have dogs of different breeds since 40 years but my 5 years old chinese bitch is the most intelligent and healthy of all. The only problem is she is hunting like a sighthound. Chinese crested are very athletic and need a lot of exercise. If your are a couch-potato its better you buy a pekingese !

After losing our beloved Long haired chihuahua in August I went on Petfinders to find another dog to join our family of 2 rescued dogs. Somehow I stumbled on Chinese Cresteds and we adopted an adorable one! She is amazing and loving and smart and CUTE! she is a hairy hairless! I think I will always have a Crested from now on!
