25 years ago, i was 7... not gonna cry about it. plus i respect oklahoma; too bad things didn't work out once those texas schools screwed up the Big 8.
how cool were those monochrome uni's?!!! we gotta do that once in a while. or maybe monochrome with contrasting N's all over the pants, jerseys, and helmets, like that goofy dude in the commercials with the suit with all the question marks all over it...
I still blame Lou Holtz for snobbing Jackson the way he did when he was the coach at Arkansas. Jackson was from Little Rock and Holtz refused to go inside Jackson's house for a visit because Jackson was poor and lived in a shack. That ruined Arkansas' chance of getting Jackson.
@BadLeaders Shoot??? Best Player on Offense??? OU was loaded in 86'. If it wasn't Jackson, it was Tillman, or Stafford, or Collins, or Holieway, or Cabbiness, or Shepard, or MItchell, or... ect. It seems that whatever choice Neb made there was a blue chipper in a white shirt that could have and, most likely would have, made a play. I'm sure Neb was just as equipped, which is why these OU vs. Neb games were so awesome during this era.
Unbelievable, pissing away some of these games in the 80's to OU, FSU, and Miami. The good thing is, Nebraska destroyed OU in the 90s to the sound of 73-21, 69-7, 37-0 and captured 3 National Titles while OU and Texas were sitting irrelevant on the national scene. At least NU didn'y go dormant for 15 yrs like these schools did.
@rbob0810 no no no, what i said came out wrong, especially being an Eagles fan...what i menat to say was that i thought he'd be one of the greatest TE's in NFL history, he had a shit work ethic and was inconsistant...he's no HOFer and yes he was good in the NFL....but not great.
This was the first Nebraska game I ever watched, I was 10 years old. Keith Jackson pushed off, it should have been called, but it was a great catch. Nebraska wore all red for this game and was up 17-7 and then collapsed at the end. All the Nebraska Okalahoma games I remember growing up seemed to have terriable weather, cold and raining. Great games to watch, great defenses and option football.
The fact that he pushed off makes that catch more remarkable, because the ball was in the air coming to him! Obvious reason why KJ was the greatest Tight End in the history of college football.
He did push off and I am the biggest Sooner fan on this planet!!! This is not to be smug or rude, but it was just one of those great plays!! It could of been holding on Brodereck Thomas as well. Jackson was a great tight end!! I would love to see him play in OU's current offense!!
How about the way OU came out and rocked Crimson shoes?? Just a great game all the way around. It is something about playing in Lincon, Nebraska in late November that just gives me chills!!! I really miss those great games.
I was there. 1st weekend home when I got out of the Navy. AWESOME day, grew up 50 miles from Lincoln as a SOONER fan. This video brings back a Great memory. THANKS!!
Was this a night game or a late-season afternoon game that stretched into the night? I dont remember there being many late-season night games on ABC back then but I could be wrong.

miracle play; what a clutch player

OU not only had better players back then, but they also had the best coaches. How many times was Osborne just plain out-coached by Switzer?

I am also glad that Jackson still had an outstanding career at Oklahoma.

But I am still glad that Jackson later approved his son Keith Jackson, jr to go to school at Arkansas.

Nice defense by Nebraska! Jesus Christ, how can you not cover their best player on offense in such a critical situation like that?! Amazing!
