They look like two bored mischievous little badass kids that snuck into their parent's room and started getting into shit in their mother's vanity table! XD
Andy talks about this in his autobiography. Judy had rehearsed a number the day before with the band and dancers. The day of taping she couldn't remember any of it. She came up with this skit to replace her number. It worked out great.
As the world's most financially successful(but poorly managed) superstar, she should have been safely tucked-away back in her beloved Grand Rapids (with the mega-millions she earned) by 1965. Not clowning with Andy for grocery money (Though, thank you, Andy).
Here's to wishing that SID LUFT, Fields & Begelman are all crackllng in hell for abjectly stealing Judy Garland's multi-millions, because they all DID. Judy was an addict, but it WASN'T HER FAULT (entirely).
I just watched a film with her in called the easter parade! I did not know much about her - I'm 27, other than wizard of oz! Anyway WHAT HAPPENED TO HER ? Show biz jew/hag comes to mind with a smokey voice yet she's only about 42 here! What an old bat! What do people see it that ? Ok I can understand wizard of oz etc but in the 60's she's just an old show biz jewish, rich vulgar hag!!!!!What an ugly package she became! Typical show biz bat!
"Jewhag"? "Old Showbizjew/hag"? Please see a Jewish woman therapist. And brush up on your writing skills. There are at least six grammatical errors in your post. It is anti-semitic and ignorant. You've watched one movie in which Miss Garland was a lovely young woman, and you wonder why she looks 42 at 42. Read a book about Miss Garland and learn that she didn't have a cent at the time of this show. Also, (gasp!) she wasn't Jewish. Read before you think, and think before you write.
Well whatever, she's a pretty revolting package! Musicals may be "clever" and be very skillful BUT that does not stop them for being dated rubbish! In other words clever but boring! No one listens to that kind of stuff today. This creature became an old bat at just 47! She looked like a woman in her 60's towards the end of her life!
Oh, I get it now. This is about you growing older, and facing 30. Okay. Work it out however you must, although you might find a diet and exercise program more effective than anti-Semitism.

No its about some old druggie bat with a smokey old voice in her 40's looking like she is older than her years! Why would I be worried about facing 30 ? That's not old, infact 60 these days is not old!

This is cute!I was surprised to find out she was 47 when she died cause I remember seeing her on tv and I thought she looked at least 65(from all the drinking,I think)
These clips from the mid-sixties, before she was terribly ill, are bittersweet to see. From what I've read, a sensible plan was put in place after the demise of her own TV series to have her appear as a guest on the many variety shows of the day, and make about $100,000.00 a year. It would have enabled her to keep her home, keep her kids in one place, and all of the other good things that come from an anchored life. But the plan fell apart.
That's too bad ... would have made a huge difference perhaps in the outcome . . . I remember this point in time and that does ring somewhat accurate . . .
To the contrary Luftloft, I love watching Judy's appearance on the Andy William's show because he is so supportive of her. On air, he invites her back. Would he have done that if they didn't get along. Stop with the speculation...Judy got along with most everyone!
If you watch the whole show including their duets, the eye contact isn't that sustained and they just don't seem to connect. I think I heard somewhere that Judy and Andy didn't get along but that might be pure speculation.
Did anyone catch her (I assume) adlib at the very beginning? "I think you just want me to wash up, get money and get out of here." I'm guessing the two of them didn't really hit it off.
yeah i heard her say that, i always loved her wise cracks lol...what makes you think they didnt hit it off? i just thougt she was teasing him...just joking for fun and for the audience etc
Yes, and it's ridiculous. . . with all due respect. I love and respect Judy's talents but many of her latter day TV appearances are hard to take and uneven and this is a good example. Some of her magic, however, persists.
how can you say that, she's so funny in this clip. When you're a star of her magnitude, even a skit like this gains great entertainment value. It's not a Carnegie Hall moment, nor was it intended to be.

Poor Judy was struggling by this time with booze and pills but her ability to entertain and capture an audience was still there !

yes left handed

She's left handed - many notable female performers are (Emma Thompson, for example, also left handed).
