Is it just me, or does much of Myaskovsky's work seem to describe the sentiments of a paranoid mind? Of the works of his to which I have listened, the fourth symphony seems the best example.
I bought all of his 27 symphonies. Some are undisputable masterpieces (3,4,5,7,10,22,24,25,27) others are of lesser interest (14,19,23,26). Myaskovsky nevertheless remains a very original voice in the XXth century and I am certain that his art will find the place it deserves in the history of music.
