You can't really compare the two - MK9 is frame based, like tekken or Soul Calibur whereas SF4 is classic 2D fighter style, very differant formats, I know a lot of SF pros who suck at 3D fighters so that's understandable...

I think you misunderstand me - many players, not all have varying sucess rates on various fighters. Take Ryan Hart - scary good Tekken and SF player, but he sucks at soul.

And when I say frame based, I mean from a Soul players perspective - most pokes generaly being negative on block, as opposed to your traditional 2D style (SF, Blazblue, marvel) where you get your links and cancels to build up mixup strings following a blocked hit. Its a differant style

@Synraii agreed but doesn't mean this is the rule. My first fighting game was SF2 but in my life I played a lot of different fighting games and the only one that I found difficult was Virtua Fighter. That, I think, would be my bet talkin' about singular gameplay for a fighting game. Star Gladiator too was different but I think someone can find difficult a different type of battle system only if he plays consistently one type for most of his life. I usually swapped among all these instead.

A little crude though - mashing for breaks, I used to do that on Soul (still do vs. Ivy) but breaking on reaction is more fun. At least in SF you don't have to guess which kind of throw it is - give with one hand, take with the other I guess =/

With regards to pressure, mixup, rushdown and defence I mean - I don't main MK9, but I've played it at tournament level and I wouldn't liken it to any other 2D fighter, I find it to be more like tekken than anything (without full movement obviously) which is what I meant when I say its understandable to be good at MK9 and bad at SF - very differant systems.
