  • Exactly how it should be sung, il divo and leona lewis take note.

  • She is a classical rock singer........a bloody good one at that but if you were to put her head to head with Barbra Streisand then she would be out of league.

  • She made the song her own...operatic and melodic...

  • Don't go hating on Sarah, please, her voice is AMAZING. Sure, this wasn't her best performance or song to sing, but that doesn't mean she's not good. Listen to her work in The Phantom of the Opera.

  • i like her, but she always looks stoned.

  • I can't understand a word she's singing she swallowed the words

  • Eca!!

  • Beautiful voice......................

  • @janaephoenix91 There's certainly a difference between having a good voice, which she does, and being a good singer. Could you list at least elaborate on one or two things she's doing wrong? Thanks

  • @BLURAYDIGIBOOK Sure. You can't understand a freaking word. Kinda important.

  • She is lovely, her voice is a miracle and is the dream of any gentleman.

  • well music business is clearly NOT about technique...

but not having a "perfect" tecniquie according to some people, doesn't mean an artist isn't talented ...at least to me.

  • Sarah Brightman is way, overrated, cetainly nothing special at all.

  • I agree with zeekwolfe on the not seen comment,,,but watch her sing TIME TO SAY GOODBYE and just sit n enjoy dude.

  • It's funny how people critique Sarah.....when she is a very successful, internationally known singer. All those who want to critique her performance, what have you done that can compete with Sarah? Nothing.

  • @LivingMindfully1975 She got successful for the same reason that Maria Ewing got famous. They both married someone famous and rode on in on their coat tails.

  • @PenzancePete.....Correction.......Andrew put her in the spotlight, but her impressive talent has kept her there!

  • Sarah Brightman is one of the most amazing singers I know of. ...but mostly for operatic songs.

  • this is one of the best versions i've heard . . . but only if i'm not watching the video

  • Everytime i listen to her i just fall in love on and on. Love u sarah, hope u come to Mexico soon.

  • i'm impressed. the only other song of hers that I like is Phantom of the Opera. the way she shapes her vowels sometimes is odd, but she is so talented. her best performance yet :)

  • Lovvvveeee her!!!!! But omg! When she said "Place for uSSSSS" My hears were breaking! high pitch! Still love her though :D

  • Geesh, people. She's an opera singer. Try singing opera throughout the whole song. It's very difficult.

  • Wow at some of the comments and the amount of people in support of them . What has American Idiot wrought? A bunch of superficial "talent" experts who judge real talented people on their looks and question their vocal technique? Your are all certainly entitled to you opinions. Major fail though in this case.

  • @Adominae Yes, you're absolutely right. America has produced no musical talent whatsoever. We should aspire, instead, to the musical genius of the Spice Girls or Bananarama.

  • @seanr456 Or the musical genius of The Beatles, or The Rolling stones.......

  • @seanr456 Or maybe the musical genius of The Beatles, or The Rolling Stones? ^^

  • @Adominae i think you're trying to say american idol, not american idiot ! lol american idiot is a great show but not as god as WSS n i agree with u completely other than that !

  • hey i've uploaded a video of myself singing this song, please listen to it and let me know what you think :)

  • could it be that she's trying to imagine wrapping her hands around a person's body while singing the wonderful song?

  • arghhhhhhhh OPEN YOUR MOUTH!!!!!

  • lindo , amo essa musica !!!!!!

  • my idollllllllllllllll.

  • completly soulless, try Tom Waits version who is also a real human by the way.

  • Hey i have uploaded a video of myself singing this, please watch it and tell me what you think! :)

  • This song is so full of emotion... this is the first time I've seen it performed with technical accuracy and zero emotion.

  • Hey, i have just uploaded a video of me singing this song, please watch and tell me what you think! :P x

  • i've heard better.rydian roberts for one

  • I wish Sarah and the conductor would get on the same page, so to speak, tempo-wise. They aren't together through much of this. Weird. She is often behind the orchestra.

  • love it. unbelievable voice

  • Best rendition of this song I ever heard. Sarah's amazing

  • somedöööööy, somewhöööööre.

  • She needs to pronounce her words more.

  • ok i am by no means a fan of sarah brightman but my god this was good!

  • barbra streisand please!

  • her voice is amazing!

  • beautiful voice

  • I love Sarah Brightman <3

  • Sarah Brightman's performances are best heard...not seen.

  • @zeekwolfe You are so right. She sounds like an angel, although she cheats on difficult notes like the word be. BUT, to watch her she looks like a pig. Pop an apple in her mouth, some parsley in her bottom and voila! Pig. Plus those ghastly and pretencious hand movements. Awful and so contrived. Imagine her without that pancake make up. Pig. Zip her under the griller and...crackling. Pig, I tell you!!

  • @zeekwolfe Well then, you have obviously never been to her more recent concerts, which are somewhat like Pink Floyd concerts on a smaller scale.

  • @zeekwolfe I was *just* thinking that.

  • Wait a minute 2:08. Hold my hand and I'll what you there? She definitely doesn't say take.

  • @cjeam9199 i think she said lead

DONT CHANGE THE WORDS LOSER!(her, not you)

  • I get the feeling Ms Brightman has made it her personal mission to butcher every beautiful piece in the Western musical repetoire. (Probaby a fair few non-Western, too, I suppose.)

  • @AmytheLoveDoctor this is good.

but NOBODY can touch PJ PROBYS VERSION OF THIS, he made it as famous as it is today.

  • indeed, the eyes are a method for classical singing. (if this is correct English). That's how you get that big, 'round' sound.

  • again, fronting as an opera singer. i think she thinks the arm thing she does is tramatic, it just looks ridiculous

  • it actually helps you use your diaphragm, which is what you need to use when you sing.

  • She always looked like she was shocked about something *wide eyes* hmm maybe drugs or sth?? x'D

  • @Okyaksan actually when you raise your eyebrows and widen you eyes, it opens up your face so that you can hit the extra high notes

  • Aber der Schluss ist ja leider der reinste coitus abruptus!

  • I wish she would articulate more and not have such an odd style of acting, because otherwise this would be a much better performance. Not bad at all, but the words get lost in her mouth, and I'm not entirely sure what's up with her boxy arms.

  • @fizzypepsi i think shes wearing a corset it may not be very comfortable (in reply to boxy arms)

  • @fizzypepsi finally someone besides me thinks this!!

  • @ChrisMagoo99 oh many think, it's just not many say :)

  • @ChrisMagoo99 oh many think, it's just not many say :) it's a shame really...that her performances are so awkard, i mean

  • @fizzypepsi In Opera words often get "lost" as you say because for opera singers have to reach the or go low enough to get the notes out, notes must be very round to hit that center pitch. The "boxy" arms is to to her trying to support her air flow and diaphram which supports each note. You see when she opens up like that it allows her to take lager breaths at a time to be able to hold notes out properly. This and much more factors into each and every note. Hope that helps. It's just opera. :)

  • @ThePokegaga actually I think she is breathing incorrectly. you can hear to take breaths...

and if she can focus her sound without manipulating the front of her mouth, consonants shouldn't be that big of a problem. Obviously high notes are harder, but she does tend to swallow her notes.

  • @CAinslieI Breathing is like phrasing for a musician it's a different approch to a musical phrase. Musicality is pretty big with Sarah. On cressendos she will start out softer, which is often more difficult because that means faster air to get vibration going at a much smaller scale, to sound bigger and have a greater impact at the end of the cressendo, on decressendos she will usually sing stronger so the end of the decressendo will have a greater difference. It's all dynamics and styling.

  • @ThePokegaga I just thought I point out that Crescendo is spelt like this: Crescendo. ;)

Breathing (as in inhaling air) is only done correctly in one way. You should use your stomach to bring in air, thus creating very little sound when breathing in. If you force your throat to bring in more air, you get a scratchy breath sound. Also, we were talking about her pronunciation, so back to the original idea...

She does swallow her words, it's not styling. She just doesn't put enough effort in it.

  • @CAinslieI Hahaha well I couldn't remember how it was spelled since I usually see it in music as < or "Cres." so I just gave it my best guess. Lol Look here, I'm an instrumentalist, so speaking to me about a singer's technique is useless, I know the basics, but everything else goes in one ear and out the other. I can talk to you about styling on peices, but that really dosen't change much. Words, words, words, I'm interested in the quality of her voice, and that voice is golden.

  • @fizzypepsi Lifting the arms up is actually a singing technique to get more air and support. She probably felt that she wasn't getting enough power and decided to left the arms. It looks like a theatrical thing but really it's a singing cheat.

  • @fizzypepsi alot of classically trained singers are taught to hold their arms like that to straighten out the upper torso to allow better airflow through the diaphragm so they can hold the notes longer and stronger. They are also taught at times to drop certian letters T and S for instance no clue on that one tho.

  • @TagaSeguchi

She's also trying to enunciate her voice, something that has to do with her repertoire and her resonance and you are right, it has something to do with her diaphraghm and she's a soprano. By the way, I like her vibrato, it's a soothing sound to the ears when you listen to her voice.

  • @TagaSeguchi cause theyre really strong sounds that resonate in the mic. its hard to describe, but i kind of get it.

  • @fizzypepsi It's cuz some opera singers HAVE to position their bodies in a certain position to hit those notes. If that's her terrible position to do so, fuck it. I'm still digging that voice =]

  • @fizzypepsi .......shes an opera singer....enough said this is a beautiful performance

  • @fizzypepsi her voice is classically trained :)

  • @fizzypepsi a lot of people sing like that cuz their comfortable. it helps lift their rib cage. today i was singing in my choir, and i noticed i was doing it and it helped me raise my rib cage.

  • Wonderful voice!

  • Talk about creating space

  • 1:20 my hair stood up
