The Shadow Chronicles was a very mediocre experience. However, to extend that as a representation of all of Robotech is a bit dishonest. Those in charge of Harmony Gold these days are not the same as when the original series was developed, and in general they've been terrible at attempting to revive the franchise. However, the originals received praise even from the Japanese for altering the story and arguably making it better. Still, renaming this intro to Robotech is stupid because it's not.

Never seen Robotech in my whole life, never will. I acknowledge that Robotech paved a way for more anime to the western world, but right now it has served it's purpose and it's dead. I can understand they liked it due to nostalgia and from what I've read it was story wise still better than most 80's cartoon, but yeah it's not that hard to beat the Challenge Of The Gobots in terms of quality.
