So many actors support the strike that they had to cancel the Golden Globes. Why? Because the actors are supporting their fellow workers in a fight for fair pay. What is selfish or unreasonable about that? This country would be a lot better off if everyone who was getting shat on stood up refused to take it anymore.
By the way, improving the contract might be a good temporary solution, but it won't fix the ultimate problem. You want better working conditions? Dump the bosses off your back. That goes for all workers.

These writers need to get over this.. and know that they can be replaced...
They want to stop production (200+ people) working for a project, because 15 people are not satisfy, bunch of self-centered people, sign a contract and stick to what it says.. should be happy you even got a job.
actually no they can`t be replaced unless the producers want independent writers which may not even be as good as the writers in the writers guild. it`s no mistake that there are so many people that are supporting the strike because the writers are being taken advantage of by the producers. it`s not whining it`s standing up for themselves
That's just it. The contract expired and the AMPTP wants them to sign a contract worth LESS than the crappy one they already had.
You wouldn't work for free (which the terms of the new contract would basically require by calling distribution "promotion" and therefore exempt from payment) so they should the writers?
It's costing the networks MORE to fire ONE executive AND in repayment of advertisers than ALL the networks would pay under the contract in FIVE years.
really, i don't know how many writers are in the writes guild, but apparently, there are only a hanful of good ones...whatever they are demanding is probably too much compensation for less than mediocre script writing. and it is way more than obvious who the majority represent. they've had their opportunity to represent themselves. they've failed miserably, and it's time they accept that and clear the way for new writers to tell their story.
So are you saying you have no thoughts or ideas of your own? I grew up idolizing screenwriters, but you've somehow just made yourselves look so self-righteous and boring that I just have to hope this turns out bad for you.
It's still extraordinary to me that people outside of the industry don't understand how important the writers are to the process of movies and television. At least they can say they're ignorant... the producers and studio bosses can't!
