  • Gawd I hate car videos where the dude just talks to whole time. D bag.

  • Thanks for a overview of a Porsche 911, not review a 997.2 /w PDK. I don't want to hear about rear engine driving dynamics or trivial details like the right hand side ignition. Explain why the car makes you feel the way you do while driving it. Steering feel, handling details, and improvements over the previous generation are the things you should try to convey in your review.

  • still defeated by the gtr

  • fascinated by not on you fool

  • i liked this review ...most of the youtube reviewers should realize that we want to know how the car feels if we wanted a spec-sheet there r tones of website where i'd be easier and faster

  • great review.

  • it looks really dated

  • this video is bout the car or this dude?! all i so is this dude talking, where is the car?!!!

  • SQUAT THAT ASS DOWN

  • great review

  • why do i keep getting Mormon adds on youtube?

  • porsche shits on anything america could make and i am american

  • @eburshtan0720 lies

  • @sexking83 No kidding. :) There is no comparison. Apples to oranges. But compared to other world class sports cars the only reason you'd buy a 911 is for the engineering. It's boring. No character. Not really that attractive either. No sex appeal. Typical of German cars. We're brainwashed into liking the look. Now take an Aston Martin DBS...that is a car to own!!! Excellence in engineering. Original. And one of the best looking cars IMHO. Elegant and sporty at the same time.

  • @AGC828 although an DBS is a good car, and sexy as hell- it lacks the precision and is as a result just that a GT. This 911 embodies the words Sports Car! JF you should've told these kiddo's that Porsche tried to veer away from the rear engine but the enthusiasts stopped buying porsche's because they weren't the 911. Take the 968 and 928- both flops and yet still engineering marvel's covering things like the transaxle transmission... Heritage is everything- there is no Substitute!

  • if the budget was 1000$ im pretty sure renting this car with all the ensurance etc, it would kill the budget instantly

  • @rmcld I don't think they rented this. I do believe he got it for press use - and tracking it would have violated the undersigned contract.

  • @jsmarais83 yes, PR car i guess would be more realistic.

  • too much blabla not relevant to the car tech & numbers.....waste of time

  • Having an engine in the back is a bad idea. Older 911s were notorious for fishtailing out before traction control, torque vectoring etc. That is why most car journalists feel the Caymen with it's mid-engine layout is a superior handling car.

  • @chris2586 it's just a shame the Cayman S or R iterations don't come awd and turbo. That would be the ultimate car.

  • this is why you should be a host on top gear us

  • that is why i want this car over even more expensive cars out there

  • This car is the balls.

  • . . . i was waiting for him to start crying.

  • jf is a major choch. having the engine in the back is shitty compared to front or mid engine. porsche has made huge strides in perfecting the rear engine design and the 911 is a great car but you cant say the layout is better than front or mid.

  • One of the Nicest Automobiles you'll rarely even see on your way to work. It's simple shape yet no other whip has its famous design.

  • What do you guys mean this is a poor man's supercar? I'm rich, but I'm driving a friggin Honda.

  • my baby <3333

i love you baby (porsche 911)

  • you know that building this car 2 years after the first world war makes it a post-war car in a way. not mentioning the achievement of organizing the material needed for building this car.

  • wow i never you know the real reason for left key ignition.....real AWSOME

  • Guess they don't trust Derek D with this beast of a car. They probably think he'll over steer it or something haha

This car and GT-R are the poor-mans super car

  • @OGxDocTa uh poor man's super car? those are more like practical super cars.

  • @sexyboi142 practical or poor man super car, these cars are super cars none the less.

  • 998 is on the way....

  • I hear Porsche's a re nothing but maintenance nightmares...is this true?

  • @MrMACDADDY888 wrong, Porsches now have a 2 year service interval.. but not cheap when it does come around.

  • Really bad reporter!

  • Doppelkupplungsgetriebe ;P

And the only Porsches that I care are the 911 Turbo (Coupe/Cabriolet) and the Cayenne. The rest of the Porsche lineup sucks including the C4S. My most favorite Porsche would probably be the 911 Turbo 996.

  • @mondeost2202008 How can you not like the C4S if you like the turbo? They're basically the same cars besides about 100hp less.

  • @ratmtbola Don't really care about performance because all 911s perform great. I just don't like the C4S along with the regular 911 because it doesn't have that spoiler on the back like you get on the Turbo or on a GT3. You only get that spoiler that pops out whenever you go on speed.

I thinks it looks a bit imbalanced without a normal spoiler on the back. Same goes with the Panamera. It just looks like.... well like a beetle with a squashed front facia -__________-

  • @mondeost2202008 Wow ... you must be a REAL car enthusiast, deciding wheter you like a car or not on the base of a freaking spoiler...

  • @ratmtbola I am because I praise its performance and how they didn't ditch the Rear engine Rear wheel drive layout despite its problems when it comes to oversteer. It's just that having no spoiler kind of spoils the whole silhouette of a 911 making it more of a squashed beetle. Kind of like how I hate the new Range Rover's Grill and side air vents despite its off road capabilities and its first class cabin ;)

  • @mondeost2202008 No spoiler spoils the silhouette? Uhm ... sorry, but it's more like the spoiler spoils the classic 911 silhouette.

  • @ratmtbola Depends on the person really. I'm sure Porsche enthusiasts love the classic 911 silhouette.

I'm not a big fan of Porsche's design and I'm one of those guys who liked the 996 design (which was different) as much as Porsche fans didn't like it.

Most of my favorite Porsche's are the Cayenne and the 911 996 Turbo but the most special Porsche that I fancy is the 2010 Sport Classic. All of them excluding the Cayenne has spoilers ;)

    Respect for driving dynamics though

  • Great review, full of energy and an honest enthusiasm for the car. More like this please JF

  • porsche sucks

  • I really like the 911 but the cabriolet is really ugly the 911 really does not work well as a cabriolet

  • paddles! B\

  • @sweetrayatgmail Actually, aren't 911's notorious for OVER-steer? Since the motor is mounted BEHIND the rear axel (rear engine RWD) as apposed to for example a Cayman (S) which has a Mid-engine RWD setup and thus arguably better weight balance and neutral chassis dynamics. I remember hearing lots of stories of 911s especially in the 80's of horrible over-steer as the back end swung around like a pendulum. AWD and other tech-nannies were put in place to "tame" this beast or so the story goes.

  • Great review. I agree... Stats are everywhere so do your own research for that. I read the trick to Porsche handling was "slow in, fast out"... That yah the tail WILL step out more with the rear-mount engine. But hell, any car with some power is gonna get tail happy if you get gas happy. I get gas happy if I overdo it on the Mexican food.

  • GREAT VIDEO.

Porsche lovers out there as myself....QUESTION. The problems Porsche 996/997's had w/engine and IMS failure, that I know of in the earlier 2000 years. I want to pick one up, but, if someone could kindly shed some light on this for me, I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it!! What should I be looking for? Or NOT looking for.

HEY, I want my dream car, and I have to be armed with some good information.

  • JF = Porsche dick rider.

  • JF im curious to know what kind of car(s) you own

  • C4S is still 80 something percent rear wheel drive under almost all driving conditions - so the rear engine weight still applies

  • Was this review part of the $1000 budget??

  • swat that ass down lol

  • Wait, If you were in Germany filming FLD 1000, then why did you not give Derek D the C4S to lap the ring in? Surely that would be a more appropriate tool to attack a race track in, or did you just give him the Picasso for a good laugh?

  • @Forza432 I suppose that this was a press car just for a short review ... and I doubt that Porsche would allow some small, rather unknown internet show (when compared to some of the "big" reviewers like caranddriver, insideline etc.) to take it on a race track ... especially with a non-pro driver like derek d who never drove on the ring before in his life and probably never drove on any other racetrack either (atleast not in a car of 911 caliber)

and renting one would've been far too expensive.

  • so if you made this in germany... why didnt DerekD drive this? I know that you had a 1000 dollar budget and stuff but if you had this in germany why did you make derek drive that van? just wondering

  • @IIAlpineII Maybe they didn't trust Derek with the Porsche lol.

  • @IIAlpineII … I think they chose the van so they can sleep in it … lack of budget for a hotel :DDDDDD

  • So let me get this straight...you guys have enough money in your budget for J.F. to go to germany and play around in a Carrera 4S, but you couldn't have done that for the 1000th episode? you're just screwing with me now right? I love FLD but i'm really not getting if you guys know what your viewer demographic is.

  • Great review, JF.

  • Ya should have let Derek get a lap in this thing.... uh, maybe not

  • they should've made an FLDetours episode with the C4 Picasso :D

  • very nice review

  • good video but u need HD video

  • LOL at 1:36 he was like jizzed in his pants! face expression WIN!

  • So did you rent this car or was it a press car?

  • I want this guys job

  • J.F is in love !!!!

  • Hey J.F, just so you know, i remember the Scuderia having an extremely fast paddle shifting transmission. Its obviously down to the milliseconds at this point, but still.

  • JF u are awesome on what u do...

  • you get a 911 and derek gets a minivan.... nice

  • Comment removed

  • just an overgrown VW Beetle

  • I wish I had the means to buy a 911 carrera GTS. Perfect car without being overly powerful or too track oriented.

  • So tell me - why didn't you drive that to 'Ring in episode 1k?

  • I'm glad that you guys keep this channel going. I suggested it btw :D

  • JF the Nurburgring is the other way!

  • omfg i miss the LFD theme song... you guys really need to bring it back. that end bit was too much of a tease xD

  • Great review... Far too many reviews focus in stat's 0-60,top speed etc... Rather than focusing on the way the car stirs your emotions, and how much fun it is to drive in real world situations.

  • @gripracer Wow! We had to see Derek D in a garbage minivan and FLD had access to a Carrera 911. All FLD viewers and I would like to see the porsche footage.

  • in the inside it sounds like my 2010 mk6 gti

  • so if you tuys had that car in Germany why didn't you let Derek drive that round the ring?

  • Blue lambo at 4:24?

  • @orochimaruisugly thats an old porche...

  • @orochimaruisugly no thats another porsche

  • @orochimaruisugly No, it's another 911. Don't know which, but it's an older model. A 964 maybe? Try to pause it when it shows the front. The headlights are the classic bug-eye shape, and the hood lines behind the lights are the classic tubular shape.

  • @orochimaruisugly it's an old Carrera

  • better than top gear usa

  • There is testing a Porsche, and there's testing a Porsche correctly... in Germany. You're doin' it right.

  • buttons < paddles on wheel < paddles on column

  • JF kicks ass

  • I know this I juvenile but..." squat that ass" had to be called out

  • Great review J.F

  • porscha in fld 1000... at 5:10 and then again at 9:20... lol JF you were going kinda fast :P

  • this review is absurd... the porsche as we know it started with a tatra, the tatra made design made the beetle.. ferdinand did what he did with both as the inspiration....and adding a boxer AWD in the front or rear has an equal chance...this dufus does not have this story exactly straight.

  • please review more cars that we can own not only expensive ones, i mean i like these but i wish there would be more about less cost ones. Also It says weekly reviews, that hasn't been true since summer...

  • this is how all FLD reviews should be. The standard numbers are pointless: by the time fld gets a car everyone knows all its numbers and signature features (I don't need to hear about the auto-revmatch yet again). However what the car is like to drive and live with, and why anyone should care about its existence is far more interesting.

  • JF looks like Barry, the gay indian, from the movie Beer Fest

  • Nice vid and i love fld and episode 1000 was great. But you had a 911 but you drove a citroen round the ring! Really!

  • I have grown to hate JF.

  • motherfucker!!! why didnt you lt Derek drive this car in the 'ring fuck you motherfucking JF

  • @andreshates hahah dude its a loner car, if he were to crash it they would be liable

  • wtf, even i can review this car better than this fuck

  • I wish Porsche's would be in GT5...

  • lol at background music

  • vin diesel does not need a manual, does not need pdk, all he needs to do is flex his pecs and the car will shift

  • I always thought that 911's were rear engine becuase its project was a bit like the beettle, but that clears it up for me.

  • cant stand the word "passion" when used to describe a car

    good episode as usual :)

  • the dual clutch in the 458 Italia smokes this pdk

  • @lcstay10 yea but its 180k

  • @lcstay10 Ya it smokes so much that it catches on fire. Like thats gonna get you somewhere.

  • Personally, the best 911 body style was that of the type 930 thru the early 996....when it was still oil cooled. I know exactly what you mean when describing going into a turn and make the car squat for traction. I've got an early 90's turbo and its the best car I've driven. And none of that electronic stability control crap. Such a pleasing car to drive. Everyone has to experience it.

  • @swinglow33 if you own early 911 you should get your facts right. All 911s up to 993 model were AIRCOOLED NOT oil cooled, same as the Beetle. From 996 models all were water cooled.

  • Good one, J.F! Thanks :-)

  • FLDetours needs more views.

  • please guys review the tesla model s i really want to know if that car does what it says is my favorite ....

  • You guys should drive this to the 'ring, and not that stupid MPV

  • Chuck Norris can shift faster than the PDK.

  • @AndyGiska Yeah and he would also destroy the synchros by that.

  • @vitessemeister it was a joke man, take it easy.

  • @AndyGiska Richard Dean Anderson can shift faster than Chuck Norris.

  • Comment removed

  • @AndyGiska Chuck Norris can shift faster than the PDK.

    Except in Soviet Russia!

  • way to short :(

  • i worked at a Porsche dealership temporarily and even tho i made crap money, i throughly enjoyed driving the cars. if i had to explain it in one word it would be addicting. i hope to one day afford a Cayman S to relive those days.

  • I like that the paddles move with the wheel. Unlike say the Skyline.

  • YaY FLDtours is back!! i really wanna see you guys talk about the Mini Countyman. You know cars that are Underated and have good MPG. Not just Super Cars that i might probably never own....

  • They removed the part where J.F. say's it has 355 horsepower, where it really has 385.

  • wait a minute.... is this the 4S we saw on the highway in the 'Ring vid?

  • @gripracer Good eye :)

  • @FLDetours i was wondering the same thing, and, WHY DIDNT YOU LET DD DRIVE THIS ON THE RING? WHAT HAPPENED TO $1000 BUDGET?!

  • @FLDetours so why didn't you guys put that in the ring instead of the Picasso

  • @Nindoug i'm sure they put this on the ring. just not in the video.

  • @FLDetours OMG are you Effing serious? You're in Germany with a Porsche. You had this thing in Germany and you sent Derek around the ring in a friggin shit? I know you don't give a damn about how we feel about it but to have done that to Derek, just leaves a bad taste.

  • @TVRFan11

You think a rental Porsche is cheap? They were on a $1000 budget man. Come on!

  • repost?

  • 240p... really?
