Oh tristes! Montsserat Caballé e Raina Kabaivanska. Os meus ídolos como MULHERES da ARTE. Thanks God!

  • she speaks Spanish, Catalan, Italian (she and Callas spoke to each other in Italian) French, German and English!!!! quite amazing and her wonderful voice transcends all language when she sings!

  • How many languages does she know? I am stunned, great woman!

  • Sie ist schön und wunderbar, I liebe Monserrat!

  • Es una mujer asombrosa.

  • how many lenguages does this woman speaks?is amazing

  • i agree

  • Sie spricht eine Million Sprachen!!

  • she was an excellent Salome

  • It's pretty common for opera singers to know a lot of languages, but it's rare for a southern European opera singer to also know German since it is nother kind of reportoire and language group. Usually, Italian and Spanish opera singers only know French and Italian, and Italians can sing much better in Spanish than in German or English.

I don't think Caballé has sung German opera at all, but maybe she has sung German lieder. She is amazing

  • believe it or not, caballe has actually performed Strauss's SALOME several times. she has also done a few ROSENKAV'S! the woman is beyond amazing!

  • @cbanni1 I saw her doing Salome in Liecu de Barcelona many years ago! It was a great success!!!

Of course she didn't perform the dance!

    :))

  • This amazing artist has sung on stage, with distinction, Ariadne, Arabella, the Marschallin, Rosalinda, her favorite role Salomé, Venus, Elsa, Elisabeth, a few of the Walkiries, one of the Norns, Erste Blumenmagd (Parsifal), Sieglinde, and even Isolde.

  • In German, she also sang Pamina.

  • And she sang Chrysophemis from "Elektra" (Strauss) and Armida ( in Dvorak,s opera ) too.

  • I wonder how many languages she is fluent in? I just watched and interview of her in French and she was flawless. An amazing lovely person...love her!

  • She was raised in a bilingual city (Barcelona), having Catalan and Spanish as native languages. During her time in Basel and Bremen, she learned German. She also speaks English, French and Italian, the latter being particularly good.

  • Yep, I wondered listening to a 1968 italian interview on youtube! She's amazing.

Someone should put it on wikipedia!! :-P

  • i LOVE YOU Montserrat, you're a true inspiration of life.

  • she is so beautiful and wonderful, lovely lady...

  • wie recht die grosse Dame hat

  • The woman knows what she's talking about. And her singing tone remains sweet. Another first for Caballe...the first old timer with a youtube interview!
