The Omen is a gaming machine, not a workstation. Nobody seriously buys such a machine to work with it 8+ hours a day. It targets a completely different market and is all but an investment. Well, maybe you could sell the Omen on ebay to other fanboys like you with a profit, i heard rumors, they are hard to get, but that doesn't count :-)
I would buy neither a Apple nor this overpriced Omen. But I don't have to like Apple to see, that VoodooPC is not a reasonable competitor for them.
Call me all you want. Its still not going to change the fact that gaming stations like these run Windows. (I prefer Linux, but it is hard to find. Way more stable than Apple and Windows.) You are right. They both target different markets and people. But when it comes down to who is better, it doesn't matter what you or I say. We only have opinions
It's absolutely no problem to run Windows on Macs (ever heard of Boocamp?). It is only a minor problem to run Linux on Macs. And of course, you can use MacOS. Can you say the same for the "Omen"?
And btw: I am not interested in the question, which one is better. This would be a stupid question. It would be like asking: is a truck or a car better?
I only responded to your statement, that the "Omen" is a competitor to Apple and can beat it.
if you say so :) you tried it? I'm sure, you didn't. Not in that way, that you have to earn your money with your "gaming machine". Go back under your stone and bother someone else ....
O let me tell you about it, my ALX just struggles soooooo bad running auto cad and office 2007 *sarcasm*, go figure out what the fuck your talking about. The only programs a good gaming computer can't run are the ones meant for super computers, not desktops. And even then most gaming machines have 3 or 4 TESLA GPU's, so they could probably do most of them too.
Sure, you can also build a Mac Pro in price categories beyond 7000 USD. But in that case you buy highend workstations with professional video cards (2000+ USD) and with enough processing power and more storage and RAM than you will ever need. You pay to work better and faster. And to earn more money. Therefore it is an investment.
Apple was the market leader... but i now believe Voodoo pc is going to take the lead. This thing CAN beat a Apple Computer stock. except probably for the Mac Pro. Damn. Who the hell is going to take the Apple juggernaut down? I say Voodoopc
@vjimenez2010: what kind of blinded fanboy you have to be, if you really believe what you are saying ...
The Omen is so expensive. It starts with 7000 $, fully equipped 10000 $ shouldn't be a problem, even if you don't want one of their legendary tasteless gold cases. You could buy two entry level Mac Pro for this amount.
the best computer you will ever find right now, for consumer use (speaking only tech specs) is the mac pro and if you max it out like any one should it is 23,000 but of course that is 4 terabit hard drives 16 gigs of ram and 8 cores of power, maybe 2 video card (cant remember), and im thinking it is fanlessly cooled in any case im not trying to advertise mac but DAYAMN lol.
@METMAN92towhoknows: you only pay 23000 $ for a Mac Pro, if you are stupid enough to max it in the Apple Store :-) I mean, 3500 $ for 16GB RAM, come on ...
Many resellers max them with full warranty for almost half the price. And if you know what you are doing, you could spare a few thousands more if you do it on your own ...
Unacceptably overpriced, that' why no one buys.

if it's a gaming machine, it should be able to run most if not all other applications... retard.

It still runs Windows..
It's still a piece of shit.

i've read both of your comments. voodoo and apple are competitors but its not like you think. they aren't exactly the two main leaders

Please. You can't even overclock a Mac, and Apple would never have liquid cooling. The best computer is the one you build yourself.
elgilicious 3 years ago
Bullshit you can't overclock a Mac..
Theres an overclocking utility just for the Mac Pro.
That and you can run windows on it in bootcamp and overclock your graphics card and CPU in there.
Andybadtothebone 3 years ago
You can overclock a Mac Pro maybe 400MHz, which is piddly, and every other Mac is doomed to run stock.

i would never buy a desk top if i can hhelp it. i would always make it myself, i was just saying, for people who wouldnt.
METMAN92towhoknows 3 years ago
Well, in case of Macs, you have no other choice than to buy the core machine from Apple.
But i agree with you: i rather build my systems from the scratch on my own (and abandon to use a Mac :-). But some people haven't this choice ...
