  • Good tension , tenor sax gets better and more impressive, the quieter he plays , reminds me also of Valentyne Suite...cool ...

  • he is born in Mysen( Norway) !

  • This is wonderful. I love this sax sound.

  • manus snare sounds bad, otherwise great performance!

  • HE'S FROM POLAND!!!! POLAND FOREVER!!!!

  • @scream4judas

    Ithought he is from norway?

  • @urmelschaaf no, my friend. from poland

  • @scream4judas

Biography in CD-Cover says Norway, his parents came from Poland ;-)

  • @urmelschaaf For real he's from Poland, but he LIVES IN NORWAY. But he can speaking in polish and is registred in Poland. So as a polish guy I'm very proud of him. Because he's one of the greatest sax jazzmen ever.

  • @scream4judas his father is from Poland, but his mother is norwegian, and Jan was born and grew up in Norway, and afaik he's got norwegian citizenship

Anyway his daughter, Anja, also made some interesting music

  • @urmelschaaf

Anyway, he is one of the best. That is all that is interesting!

  • This is really different from most other music. Truly unique.

  • Really incredible. No words can express feelings that come out of listening to this music.Bravo to Garbarek,Eberhard Weber on bass,Manu Kache on drums etc.Thank you.I wish you could live for ever.

  • Incredible performance! Jan Garbarek is in a league of his own. For those not familiar with his earlier work, check out the album Witchi Tai Tao from around 1973. It's a phenomenal, timeless, peerless work. But newer material such as this song is aweseome, too! (Would love to see him team up with pianist Bobo Stenson again, though...)

  • IMPRESIONANTE, COMO SE PUEDE HACER MUSICA CELESTIAL

  • Immer wieder ein Erlebnis Jan Garbarek zu lauschen. Dieses Stück durfte ich schon live miterleben. Ich denke ein großartiges Stück in Gedenken an alte schamanische (Indianer) Zeiten!

  • I can't stop listening to this over and over - it is totally mesmerizing and the changes are absolutely breath taking: For example at 1:46 and then again at 2:20. the high point around 3:30 - 4:00 is ueberirdish (there isn't a good English word for this: beyond planetary, out of this world). And the drummer is totally in heaven - look how happy he is! That's how I feel too listening to this.

  • Good Player and cool curved soprano sax, but I'm not usually a fan of the soprano sax sound...too high and whinny sounding for my taste.

  • Wonderful Performance.

  • Wonderful Performace.

  • so cool !!

  • the best!!!

  • Love the modulations.

  • moving, impressive, unforgettable!

  • Looks like 50 Lady Gaga fans were here...

  • @dlekic hey, would you mind posting a link to it here? :)

  • Looks like 50 Lady Gaga fans were here...

  • Million Stars:マイブラザーウィンドマーチ

  • so HUGE!!!

  • Grandios! DANKE! ❤❤❤

  • what a kind of sax is this??!

    great music...

  • @EbolaGerman sopranino

  • @luka7tzar

It's actually a curved soprano. The horn he's playing is in Bb, an octave above tenor, whereas a sopranino is pitched in Eb, exactly an octave above alto.

  • @afik1945

it is not oriental!! sometimes harmonic minor and the tune origins in Norway where Garbarek belongs... but I agree the tune sounds in many peaces oriental!!

  • @bobthemage

Especially the solo of Garbarek (2:50) is real Mediterranean. Because Garbarek is playing in this specific harmony, alternately over the chords G minor and A flat major, the first and second note of the scale he uses, as well as the 5th and 6th note, are half notes (g-a flat and d-e flat). This gives the oriental feeling. The change of chords is typical Spanish and you hear it in Greece as well. Chick Corea has used it often too. By the way: his scale is called 'ousak' in Greece.

  • Yes, they can !!!!!!

  • Weber... oh... how beautiful. I've just uploaded couple tribute videos for Eberhard Weber on my channel. This band is fantastic!

  • Here, the standard Garbarek-Weber-Brüninghaus-Katché quartet surpassing even their Twelve-Moons version. Exempting the comment, speechless

  • Excelente! 5 estrelas!

  • JAN GABAREK gehört zu den ganz grossen. Er schafft es mit seiner Musik mir die Gänsehaut rauf und runter zu jagen...

  • yeah!

    jan garbarek is the legend!

  • Best version I have ever heard of this obne was a version he played on belgian television in I guess 93/94 at the latest. That one I would really like to find again; anyone who has that one please post it...

  • this was a generic music of a kids program broadcasted on TV1 of Turkey in the first half of 90's,

  • cuuuuuuuudo

  • oooooohhhhh!!!! just wonderful!!! have seen him live at the jazzfestival wiesen 2008! WOW!!

  • from "Legend Of The Seven Dreams" - 1988 - ECM

  • no! it's from Twelve Moons - 1992 - ECM

  • Which album does it come from?

  • This version is closer to the one from "Twelve Moons". You won't be disappointed by the recorded version - it is quite spectacular.

  • I remember the concert in Istanbul, 18 years before ... Garbarek is forever ... :)

  • Was there too, fantastic atmosphere!

  • 1:45 is amazing!

  • ha:) so calm, but so full of passion. maybe even with a little devil inside... and with ghosts above. reminds me Lorenz's music from Bastard

  • fantastic!!!

  • Excellent performance!! 4 guys manage to sound so HUGE!!! Outstanding!

  • Love it!

....but Manus snare sounds like crap. It has an industrial sound to it..

  • wow i really love this - pure passion!

  • WOW.

  • peu de musiciens en sont là, garbarek ne joue pas il chante !!

katche le son de caisse claire parfait !!!

  • Prefiero mil veces a Marilyn Mazur o a Jon Christensen, esos si que son buenos para Garbarek.

  • Can someone please tell me the chords the keyboard player is using from 1:55 to 2:01 ?

  • minor 9 chords over a bass pedal, moving down the scale wth the synth strings setting...

  • She said I was to meet her family, how did I know what to say, or how to act, after all we are prisoners of ourselves...I could only be myself... No matter how hard we try to pretend, who you are..will be revealed...Our fate and our blessing.

  • Manu's approach is more funk with the heavy back beat, I miss the drumming of Jon Christensen, a very glassy cymbal texture, and wide open time palette for Jan to Paint his colours through. The true ECM essence, one of space ,and breath, like the wind...

  • 5 stars ! And as it goes Manu on this stuff took Garbarek to another level , Him and Weber are awesome together . But I know what ypou guys are talking about with Manu , but he somehow makes the music more epic with some

    very musical drumming !!

  • mitico jan

  • Go go Garbarek , The Best Music 5*

Ισως απ τις πιο όμορφες μελωδίες του Κόσμου

  • Reinvented the sax and created a sonic world that no one can imitate.

  • jaaaah

  • amazing!

  • Manu Katche on drums...with Garbarek...??????

    Cant believe it...why Manu..pop drummer...no feel..just cold rubbish...

with so many great drummers out there who would love to play with Garbarek.....

  • Does he hit the backbeat a little too hard for you darling?

  • He was on the original recording also.

  • He shows how one can touch the deepest mind with a sax.

  • thanx for having it here

  • This is real spirit!

    5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @matthiasreinert

    stimmt!!!

  • A true master, Kenny G SUUCCKKS!

  • Why mention him?

  • Again its just mind blowing what Garbarek can cunjure up, how does he do it? he gets in touch with the parts of me that matter, ie my deepest feelings, and makes me know that I love her, SHE KNOW'S WHO SHE IS, DONT YOU MY LOVE? peace to everyone, those who love this track! Paul aka -only lexus

  • MASTER.....
