This works great for most software. But not for software like Unlocker, by Cedrick Collomb that has a hook in the program that looks for the unlocker driver specifically in C:/Program Files/Unlocker
Hey, I am trying to do this on vista 64bit Ultimate however it doesnt seem to be working. I have changed both program file directories to D:\Program Files (x86) and it isnt working. Installs still keep wanting to install to C:\Program Files
Hi, thats another video I did, and Ialso have the theme to download on my website, look for the article I wrote on customizing the windows xp desktop themes
It kinda messes up with your programs already installed to C:\Program Files. It will change their target to whatever you selected, they will still work though but most of their icons won't appear anymore in the start menu, quick launch or desktop. Plus, now I have "Movie Maker", "MSN Gaming Zone" and other empty folders which magically appeared in my D:\Gaming. :D
I have 2 hardrives, and this saved a lot of space. I was able to put all my programs and files on my 500 GB usb hard drive, thankyou. My c drive is completely empty. And my computer is on steroids!!!! lol
If you are running out of space on C:\ becasue you aways install things on it, you can make the default another drive (incase you forget) to do a custom install of a application.
cool tip, next time ill use it cuz i dont want my current programs in that folder xD
nice tip bro =)
BTW, how do u change the folder "my music" with another folder in another hard disc?, i mean the button on "start", cuz once i change the route but didnt work well
could be something called disk partitioning, this can be specified easily on a windows install, each partition can act as a separate harddrive, yet they will need to be formatted separately
their are partitioning tools if you look for them.
Is it possible to change the folder of a program which you have already installed? I'd imagine you could do that with regedit..? For example, I've had Crysis installed to "D:\gamea" for a while now, it's really annoying (installed it in a hurry and don't want to install it again) x) I tried to change my Call Of Duty 4 folder through regedit but the game wouldn't uninstall after that..
It is possible, but in some cases doing that makes the program not work. So I dont recommend it. BEst you save your games, then un-install it and re-install the game to the new dir.
Thank you for this useful video!
