@MsYazu OMG!! I forgot. Its bc the Drizzt's books that I read had 3 so I thought this one had three. Lol, its been a year. Well that sucks, I hope you get book 5. The end is interesting.
@TheLadyKaylah its the first book series ive read by r a salvatore! tbh i call it the highwayman series cuz of the first book is called the highwayman!
As much as I enjoyed these books and they are one of my favorite done by Bob, you should definitely check out the Drizzt books and his Demon War series!
thought ide jump in an throw my 2 cents in --- the fallen fortress was good only grip ide say i have with it was the short fight (whatnot) between Cadderly & Aballister at the end I was hoping for something more and right now Im on Ch. 6 of the chaos curse so far so good.
@TheLadyKaylah Well its now 5:10AM and I just finished it lol ... It was good, I did feel sad on the bid with Danica / Rufo but again all in all ide def. req. this to my friends. Im told Salvatore did another trilogy that has Cadderly & Co. in it (one of the new Drizzt books)
I had a real hard time with this series. I felt pretty overwhelmed trying to wrap my mind around the scale of the world it was describing. I will try it again now that drangonlance is done.
@bluehoseok I didnt really have a hard time with this one. But im reading the Cormyr saga right now.. also forgotten realms... man so much is going on, I definately have to slow my pace. While this series is more fun with some prior knowlegde it like necessary for Cormyr. lol!
@TheLadyKaylah admittedly, it took a lot to hold my attention at the time. I was reading drangonlance during one of their most active times, publishing as many as 5 books a month, plus going to college as a lit. & history major, specializing in dead languages. I was reading sometimes 16 hours a day just for school. So I'm sure I didn't give it a fair shake. I'll look it up again sometime. I did like secret of the silver blades!
If you get a chance try Margarette Weiss and Tracy Hickmans books from the Dragonlance world. Its one of those worlds that hard to just dive into the middle of but if you can start from the beginning its well worth it. Yes i have a hard time finding time to read too but it seams liek when i get into a book it goes by in a day or two.
The Cleric Quintet was also my first introduction to R.A. I read the first book and purchased the rest the next day from the comic shop i worked at about 10 years ago. I got into the Drizzt books about 3 years ago and once you do you get hooked and yes there a lot of questions answered from the clerics quintet in the drizzt books.
@themisfits82 Tight! I did manage to get my hands on some Drizzt... the trilogy I believe. But on my list of books to read its pretty far down the line. With college oo, reading books for pleasure is getting hard.
I like your comment about the problem of invincibility. I find drizzt like that sometimes. But i love those books anyway. I found the cleric series a bit waffly, except the chaos curse which was superb. Thx 4 yr review.
@P1eski He's a damn skilled warrior, that's what he is! If you've roleplayed before, you'll realize that there is a difference between the average warrior (who probably won't even reach level one) and Heroic characters such as Drizzt, who could reach up to 20 or even further.
I found this review repetitive and lacking opinions. Try focusing on deeper aspects of the book that you enjoyed or disliked and giving examples (like the development of a character, or relationship) and reasons why.
@Dorothea808 When you Roleplay, you start at level one, so how can you not even make it to level one if you already are level one? Thats how it is when I game. I still have yet to read the Drizzt novels. And yes, this is one of my earlier reviews... im thinking of re-doing some of them... Thanks for the tip. So I play Pathfinder... what do you play when gaming? That was my first forgotten realms book, I want to read the Drizzt ones so bad!
@TheLadyKaylah Yes you start as level one, but when roleplaying, you would play a hero. You would never play some random street merchant or farmer. Those people are the ones who would be considered under level one because they are mediocre, regular people like you and me. The great thing about roleplaying is that you CAN be those other extraordinary (unrealistic) characters! :) You should read them all, they are really good!
Hey, duckchick from TOTH here. I do love Salvatore! Drizzt is one of my favorite characters from fantasy, and I recommend his origin books highly! Homeland, Exile, and Sojourn are the titles, and they're excellent reading! Drow society as a whole is fascinating! He creates some unforgettable characters, especially Jarlaxle, and Artemis Entreri, from the Icewind Dale books. He also has his own original works like The Spear-wielder's Tale, 3 very personal stories he wrote. All very good!
@theduckchick Yeah, Ive always been interested in the drow but never actually got into it. So from what Im hearing is that the Drizzt books are great. So I'll definately see if any friends have it.
you should deff read the drizzt books! Honestly I love RA Salvatore, but the Cleric Quintet series was not his best work. My fav book of his was either homeland, or the halflings gem. I'm currently reading The thousand Orcs. Thanks for the review :)
Good review but you have to gain a bit more confidence, it seems like every time you revealed something about yourself or about something like D&D you had to cover it up (Your voice changed and you would always say like afterwards). Just a bit of advice but I definately recommend reading the IceWindDale trilogy, it is where Drizzt was concieved.
@8halfnhalf8 Yeah, most definately need that confidence. I mean I have it, cause I am doing these videos, Its just I guess I'm still ackward....
Isnt there a game called IceWindDale? I believe Ive played it. Yeah, I definately liked Salvatore's writing style, but these books didnt appeal to me, that why It was a seven, So I would love to give Salvatore another chance.
To me it seems like your nervous in this video it's cute : D
