Do you guys ever listen to yourself? Just who do you is being intolerant here. Who can not stand having someone practice their religion? Who DEMANDS someone to put their faith aside like it was a favorite shirt while they are in office?
Btw, his state is the only one thriving in this economy, funny how that doesn't get mentioned.
@poeticlargess lemme guess...you're one of those fucking morons who didn't really pay attention to this video, including those important parts where i say that i respect people's rights to practice their religion as PRIVATE CITIZENS but rick perry was endorsing this prayer rally as GOVERNOR OF TEXAS! He is more than able to keep being a christian but he should not use his title as governor to promote an event that shows favoritism. ALSO, funny how 2 days after the prayer rally the DOW falls 600+
@lefayad1991 The Constitution states that Congress can't make any laws respecting religion, it doesn't state that the governor of your state can't endorse a particular creed. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Match that with the 10th amendment... "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
@nef2442 The 10th amendment says the people of the state of Texas can do whatever the fuck they want!!!!! If they want their Governor endorsing a Christian rally then its the state of Texas' prerogative. Congress can't endorse the rally nor "prohibit the free exercise thereof." Congress can't do it, but the Governor along with the people of Texas' Governor can do whatever the fuck they want! "The moment a minority begins to dictate to a majority you no longer have a democracy" G. Washington
@poeticlargess hey imbecile tell me this, what exactly is the difference between braindead retard and clone of George Bush like Rick Perry and Islamic fundametalists?
@poeticlargess LOL. So, how did that whole "day of prayer" work out? XD
You fuckers prayed for a better economy and LITERALLY the next day, the stock market crashed. Either prayer is bullshit or God has a sense of humor. :o)
This prayer rally thing reminds me of the scene in the movie "Apocalypto", where a community of primitive ignoramuses worshiped & performed sacrifices for their deity in hopes of praying away disease.
please vote for Ron Paul. I know our voting system is rigged but it would hard to ignore 20 percent of the population or more especially if that 20 percent told everybody the reality of what is going on.
Lotsa luck raising hell. But this will come and go like a fart in the wind. It's just a meeting of diversion for the feeble minded sheeps. Pay no attention to these clowns.
Rick Perry is a not only moron he,s a dangerous religious fundie extremist.
He doesn't have any solutions to any issues : therefore God , with leaders like Perry using taxpayers money to fund a religious agenda is a serious constitutional concern.
God may not exist, but I've noticed nature has a way of balancing out people who grow "a bit too big for their britches" as they say. I think a little faith is ok, however what Rick Perry here is doing is growing that into something a bit bigger when he says "make plans to be something even bigger than Texas."
Sort of like how a little methamphetamines and time with a gay prostitute makes Colorado pastors feel bigger than the faith of 40 denominations and 40,000 churches they represent...
I just thought I'd point out that Rick Perry attended this years Bilderberg meeting, I'm not one of those New World Order conspiracy theorist but he's without a doubt in bed with these corporate fascists.
Seperation of C&S is a biased supreme court interpretation of the first amendment, in error mind you. The wording is 'lawmakers [fed state & locals] shall not make any law respecting anything that benefits religious organizations.' If they taxed so called liars aka "non profits" incuding religious orgs like synagogues, there could be no excuse to tax anyones income or wages.
I am supposed to have injections in my back on Saturday but I'm doing everything I can this morning to have the appointment changed to the following Saturday. I hope to see you there!!!!
haha!'he lost texas at fasting"...hmm.what might a texas fast LOOK like?only sides but no beef?and xtians only fast at home in their prayer closet.everyone knows if they don't eat, they don't meet!:D
We all know Rick Perry is a hypocrit. But even Jesus (and thereby, God) thinks so. Someone needs to sit down with Gov. Perry and open that bible he keeps thumping at everyone to Matthew 6:5-6. Verse 5 says public prayer is the act of a self-serving attention-seeking hypocrit. Verse 6 says God openly rewards those who pray secretly. So if Perry wants God's help, he'd better cancel "The Response" and tell everyone to stay home that day and pray where nobody can see them.
So it's going soooo way beyond just calling upon the generic vanilla flavored "god of all religions or no religion" huh? Not even pretending to be all inclusive. Your governor really is a prick for Jesus isn't he? :/
GO GET THEM!! I just wish I could go with you. I no longer live in Texas or I would. Thanks for fighting this stupid crap for all of us. Have fun and GIVE EM HELL!!
@lefayad1991 it seems that a lot of comments(mine included) has a "beware of the dogs" end, i assume then that many people( me included) hope you're not gonna put yourself in a dangerous situation! This being said, you fight to make people realize they're in charge of their country, not an hypothetic"him",and that is why i,for my part, care that bad happens to you. Peace
I wonder if he's considering how stupid he's going to look when nothing comes of this prayer? He's looking stupid now but hopefully when nothing changes some of the people praying with him will realize how ridiculous this is.
In a world of madness the sane seem crazy. We look crazy in their eyes trying to make them understand there is a system that was established as a secular government, yet they keep repeating the "This is a Christian nation" bullshit over and over again. As long as the representatives remain religious, nothing's gonna change, they will always ignore the constitution.
Wrap yourself in some Middle-Eastern garb and walk in carrying a Quran. Or, invite members of the Hare Krishna sect to go. And would somebody PLEASE invite the Westboro Baptist Church. Now THAT would be interesting!
Yeah, jesus himself calls everyone participating a hypocrite :P.
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men."
Ppl should record that bit, and play it at high volume in the middle of the crowd the moment the prayer starts, and put it on repeat until the batteries die.
I'm going to be Germany on holiday drunk out of my mind on the 6th, however I almost want to skip that just so I can attend this bullshit. Should be quite intresting, can't wait to hear what goes down.
Be fucking careful. Knowing the pure blood texan christian 'mericans there will be enough hardware in the crowd to wipe out a small village. AND they have jesus on their side...
Make sure you get plenty of video footage but please be careful as no matter how tall and big you are, you can't take on a crazed mob and i can guarantee that there will be a whole bunch of Christians who won't be meek and mild and be turning the other cheek. I think VekinHighwalker's idea of dressing as Zeus (or how about Thor)is a cracking idea but i wouldn't do Mohammed if i were you as it would piss two lots off.
@pilgrimpater Now that's a fact. That's the God and Guns crowd down there, and civil restraint, is not part of their vocabulary. Please, please be careful.
@NorthForkFisherman Yes i can imagine scores of Yokeup type characters turning up in their Jaysus trucks just itching for the slightest excuse to bash the hell out of somebody in the name Jaysus.
Ugh, the Westboro baptist church along with us Atheists as well as gay groups protesting together? I'm all for opposing this stupid shit, but with Westboro there it's not going to be pretty.
@lefayad1991 Oh and by the way, since you seem to be tall and strong, what don't you simply go there dressed as Poseidon,or Zeus,Hades, or an titan,an olympian... Meaning a greek god(remember it gave birth to many ideas you see later...in the bible for example)! Tell me what you think about this, take care
looks like westboro is going to attend this party. who knows, if the "evil athiests" in attendance play the cards right, fun and news worthy things could happen...
1. Pay attention to what you're gonna say, you don't wanna be held responsable for they prayer to be ineffective! 2. Seems to me this is also a way to get a lot of money from those who be willing to help this Perry guy. 3. Church and state separation is, and Will continue to be part of your constitution, so you're right to do what you do! Peace
If a ruckus is made at the rally, they will say it's the blasphemers fault that we're being punished by god with a terrible economy. If no ruckus is made, they've broken the separation of church and state and will see it as acceptable also in the future.
Either way, they'll think they're right. Give them hell!
One minute point if I may. Rick Perry isn't a member of Congress and he's not trying to establish any law. What's he's doing is mad stupid but I just thought I'd bring that up.
@exacerbatedtaboo i am well aware that he isn't trying to establish a law, however, supreme court precedent normally rules that it is unconstitutional for a public official (i.e. a governor like rick perry) to use their title as said public official in order to promote one particular religion (in this case christianity)
Make some pamphlets to hand out with information on the lack of historicity of their bible, and other inconsistencies. Good time to hit a large audience.
Sorta getting tired about this story. I live in Houston and everyone I know is griping about how much of an idiot Goodhair is, even the few conservatives I know.
You know, I wouldnt have had a problem if he did this, but stressed that he was doing it for personal reasons, and not as governor.
Man, America is a silly place, it has the best universities, pumps out world changing technology and medicine, and has created world changing scientists and human rights activists.
And then half the population thinks the earth is less than 10000 years old.
stand in the parking lot, with a big sign saying "But the seventh day (saterday) is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work (and that includes driving your car) - Exodus 20:10"
they won't be able to kick you out for making atheist claims if you do that.
Last time Rick called for prayer it backfired and things got worse (the drought) you think he would have learned that god hates him the first time around
@Dudeatheist That just gives him a further excuse to do nothing: he can simply throw up his hands and say "Oh well, I guess it just wasn't part of God's plan." And the gullible fundies will buy it.
that's the beauty of prayer, if you get what you pray for god is good, and prayer works, if you don't then god knows what is best. Its such a great racket.
Rick Perry has literally admitted that he doesn't have a clue as to how to run things...and he's favored in the Republican primaries. Obama must be doing his happy Snoopy dance over that.
You know, part of me kinda wants this guy to become president. Canadians have always been a little bit upset that Russia sold Alaska to you guys and not us. If this guy gets elected, we might be able to afford it by the end of his term : )
This is short and directly kicks the shit out of Rick Perry's idea.
The sad thing is that Rick couldn't be any more wrong. Yet he's probably just doing this so he can gain more popularity among Christians specifically so they won't think about how stupid he really is.
@sonic8005 exactly. just to clarify for everyone is that I have no problem with Rick Perry the private citizen organizing something like this, but Rick Perry is using the office of Governor of Texas to organize this
Well Lefay I cant make it, can you say a prayer to primus for me? Tell him just to let unicron eat this dust ball. Its for the good of the universe, I do believe stupidity is contagouse and I dont want it to spread
@lefayad1991 Its my most recent videos, it doesn't talk about the seperation of church and state so much as it plays of Aronra's ideas of things we could do on that day that are just as effective as prayer.
Thease men follow there constitution becouse it protects them from being harshly treated for not beliving in the lord God,after the so called bill was signed, every one had rights not to serve God,and this is what most all people missed in there history class. The ones who fought for our rights of pure freedoms where not the republic, but the confederates, thease where the ones who where fighting agienst the ones who never belived In God.Know truth,it will set you free.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Match that with the 10th amendment... "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
nef2442 5 months ago
@nef2442 The 10th amendment says the people of the state of Texas can do whatever the fuck they want!!!!! If they want their Governor endorsing a Christian rally then its the state of Texas' prerogative. Congress can't endorse the rally nor "prohibit the free exercise thereof." Congress can't do it, but the Governor along with the people of Texas' Governor can do whatever the fuck they want! "The moment a minority begins to dictate to a majority you no longer have a democracy" G. Washington

Rick Perry is a not only moron he,s a dangerous religious fundie extremist.
He doesn't have any solutions to any issues : therefore God , with leaders like Perry using taxpayers money to fund a religious agenda is a serious constitutional concern.
slotter127 6 months ago 3
God may not exist, but I've noticed nature has a way of balancing out people who grow "a bit too big for their britches" as they say. I think a little faith is ok, however what Rick Perry here is doing is growing that into something a bit bigger when he says "make plans to be something even bigger than Texas."
Sort of like how a little methamphetamines and time with a gay prostitute makes Colorado pastors feel bigger than the faith of 40 denominations and 40,000 churches they represent...

One minute point if I may. Rick Perry isn't a member of Congress and he's not trying to establish any law. What's he's doing is mad stupid but I just thought I'd bring that up.
exacerbatedtaboo 6 months ago
@exacerbatedtaboo i am well aware that he isn't trying to establish a law, however, supreme court precedent normally rules that it is unconstitutional for a public official (i.e. a governor like rick perry) to use their title as said public official in order to promote one particular religion (in this case christianity)
