We don't know this cuz it didn't happen but maybe if Conan got an extra few months, the ratings would have gotten back to normal or better but we will never know.

I prefer Conan's brand of comedy (and other comedians as well) over Jay Leno, Adam Carrola, or Jerry Seinfeld, but it does not make them awful. (sorry for misspelling the last names.) According to many, Leno was a great stand up comic in the 80's/70's --apparently he was really funny once. Watch who you think is funny and the show you enjoy.
I am always surprised at the anger and nastiness in the comments here and elsewhere.

Leno, Letterman, Conan; none of them have such control or clout with the networks that everyone thinks they do. The networks caused this fiasco. It's that simple. From the first time Leno took over Tonight over Letterman to this Conan-Leno disaster. There is SO much more behind the scenes, WE only see these three faces and many oddly believe that these three faces run and control everything. That's just crazy. That's not how the networks operate.

A lot of comics made fun of him about the Conan stuff, but he's enormously well-respected in the stand-up community. Seinfeld, for instance, is a really big fan. Larry Sanders too. Me & my wife haven't watched one second of Leno since he stole the Tonight Show back. I watched every single Conan Tonight Show, every late one (small task I know, lol).
