That, my friend, is what makes me proud to be anamerican XD
oh and also, i was wondering if anyone kew wat the top speed of the challenger is fully loaded, or just normally loaded, whichever. My friend is drivng it in a simulator with cars and it's going 70 mph
Ah, nothing like seeing a nice thick plume of black sooty coal smoke blasting out of the stack of an old iron workhorse once in a while. I hope Al Gore is watching and shits his pants.
in my opinion UP844 & UP 3985 , are two of America's finest steam locomotives left in preservation, obviously its a huge chunk of change when then run these, coal proved too exspensive in the 50's hence oil fuel, i have a big boy on Trainz 2004 pc sim,,
Calm down. I know jet fuel has the word "JET" in it and it sound so cool, but jet fuel is pretty much only Kerosene. Yup, same stuff used to fuel old lanterns. Some of these newer engines used oil. Your question is the same as asking, "What if you put gas in a deisel engine?" It wont work.
Most ideas look good on paper for all the tree huggers to waste their money on. (like the Toyota Prius) Yes propane is cleaner and more efficient than coal. HOWEVER, You only get about 2% propane for every 50 gallons of oil from the rag heads. Whereas 50 gallons of oil is 50 gallons of oil for an oil burning engine. Same goes with Coal. So Oil and coal is MUCH more efficient. Sorry tree huggers, black smoke is better thank batteries.
Who cares about [cleaner] burning fuel. No one complain about volcano erupting. My concern is $ per mile. Propane is cheaper and NO, we don't need no raghead to get propane. Keep $ within the free world and none to the raghead!
Awesome!

@Trainguyxx The top speed of the 3985 is 72 mph and going downhill it can go 75-78 mph.

Calm down? I asked out of curiosity lol.

Ha sorry. my bad
heatherandpaul2 2 years ago
LOL cuz maybe burning it could be too hot and it would melt the firebox or whatever or the engine would explode if it was too much XD
DeltaPhi79 2 years ago
uhhhh no its not...and also that won't work.

How do we know? To my knowledge, that hasn't been tried. The Grand Canton engines used regular diesel with very impressive results.

Its an Oil Burner - #5 fuel oil recycled, or something like that
SkipW 3 years ago
@SkipW the 3985 and 844 both run off of #5 fuel oil that is recycled from the eveygrowing fleet of diesel locomotives.

All of us railfans owe a big debt of gratitude to The Union Pacific for keeping this and their other historical equipment running.
