this was when the 100 m were still quite a clean race , before such cheating french clowns like Bernard , as usual,

started on getting doped, suddenly turning themselves in ETs of swimming .....!

no it was 47.24 off the relay then 47.05 in the semis

yes..and 4x100m relay in on the first day of swimming (so..relay then followed by 100m free individual). So its 47.24 (relay), then 47.20 (bernard semi 1) and immediately followed by 47.05 by Sullivan in semi 2.

first of all, the unbeatable Popov has been beaten in his last two Olympics, and not making it to the final in the last one.You're talking that it's impossible to run after a race, then you haven't been in a real one. When you win in a race you have a boost or an extra strength but when you start warming down you realize that you're dead and extremely tired but when you swim a bad race you feel tired by the moment you touch so it's all in the mind !!!

they are from two different eras. plus who knowa how you can perform against stiffer competition. i think Popov's style is unique and is a lot more comfortable in the water than the others

In the olympics at Athens 2004, popov didn't even make the finals of the 100 free or the 50. Hoogenband won the 100 free in athens.
