That's the first time i've seen EC play slide i didn't think he played slide. Anybody know if this is a rare thing for him or is there more EC slide around?
@Trevmitchell he plays it on the unplugged album a lot..and also i think he does it on the derek and the dominos album along with duane allmans slide..
@bennyhaist Yes, Clapton played slide also on 461 Ocean Boulevard and other 70's albums. He played it on Tulsa Time and on Money and Cigarettes and of course on the great From The Cradle-album. He also uses slide at some point on almost all his concerts.
The finest rendition of this song ever recorded. Andy has the perfect voice and range for this song. As for EC, he does what he normally does, moves you to tears.
Andy is the man through and through. No lime-light for that ole dog,... just a true love for the music that puts him center-stage in my book wherever he goes with or without EC. They do well together though!
Nobody is a better guitar player than Clapton, I`m sorry! Not even jImi gets close. Jimi is a better showman but nobody can hit the sweet notes like Eric.
I saw Andy with Roger Waters on his Dark Side of the Moon tour '07. He sat at the back of the stage then he got up up and ripped out an aweomse solo during Another Brick in the Wall p.2 he was insanely good and I couldn't believe he was just finger picking the whole time!
Was funny to see clapton in the background at first. When he stands up, you think, hum solo time? And oh yeah does he give you what you expect... You know he's going to do something good, but each time he surprises you
@scotty1075 You are so right what a load of Hype that X factor is, people like Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix would never have got past the auditions.
great, saw Andy last night in Darwen too, go and see this man on his current tour take your kids if you want them to see a guitar master and a great band magic....
First saw Andy with Amen Corner in London many many years ago. This is a great version of the song with Eric Clapton's Band. Thank you so much for the opportunity to see this video.
Shadowfaghost! You have echoed my thoughts for years. I adore Clapton and many other guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, etc. I have always said...There are no greatest anything! So odd and so real. I thought you were me! Thanks for saying it though.
I can't believe people waste the time to argue over who's the best guitar player.... Listen & enjoy the magic of the moment. Players at this level don't care.
I'd read your drivel but I can't be bothered anymore, instead I'm going to listen to some good guitarists and let you sit in your mothers basement to argue about Hendrix through the night. Peace.
Get off his cock. Hendrix practically invented his own style which is comparable to none, sure, but you can't go undermining talent like this.
Each guitarist has his strengths and I don't rate any over another i just listen to the music, I don't try to pick the flaws or attempt to prove who is the best, there is no such thing as THE GREATEST GUITARIST IN THE WORLD mainly because there will always be someone who is better than you or better than you at a certain thing.
A real great vocal performance by Andy Fairweather Low, I really like this version and Clapton's solo is superb, thanks for posting this beautiful moment
Yes, he was...So many unbeliveable pickers...I wish you guys would quit putting one down under another. They're all great in their own way. I mean, Clapton, Hendrix, Stevie, Mike Bloomfield, Duane, BB King...Freddie King, Albert King, Ry Cooder, Derrick Trucks, Johnnie Winter, Hubert Sumlin, Albert Collins, Jeff Beck, Otis Rush, Jimmie Rodgers, Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl, Django, Roy Buchannon, Jimmie Vaughn, Segovia, Jeff Healy, Joe Bonamassai, and I haven't even really named Jazzers...great..
You must have fogotten abouut his 4 top ten hits with Amen Corner, or his other top ten hits with Fair Weather or his other work with Roger Waters, Pete Townsend, Bill Wyman, Joe Satriani etc. He did Gin House on Jools Holland recently, everyone at my place watching it (and playing with him) was visibily moved. I am not sure he was kicked off playing with Clapton. Still, you clearly didn't know very much at all before you commented. He is really feeling it mate - I know.
Rubbish, he feels the music more than many. He is a really talented guy in his own right, look him up. Why do you think Clapton wants him in his band?
This was done by the Animals (eric burdon) 45 years ago. It is a great version, worth finding. Always been huge on Clapton and what a surprise to find him doing this. Love it !
A great number. Amen Corner was part of my youth.I love Andy, and let's face it,Eric can do no wrong. Long may these guys perform, together or seperately..........they,re marvellous!!!
Just been to see Andy Fairweather Low at the Tivoli, Wimborne Dorset, UK along with 100 0r so other lucky people. OK so it would have been good to have Eric there but the boys did good, real good.
What a voice!! I grew up through my teens watching these guys both live and on TV. I bought Amen Corner singles and the first edition of the Beano album. I saw EC with George and Delaney & Co. I saw A.F.L. on the same bill as Hendrix. Look, Listen, Feel and Learn!! F**K Strats, Tele's, LP's or whatever. See if you can do this good.
This is a stunning performance, especially from Andy, try to appreciate it
Hendrix played Gibsons as well. As far as I know Clapton has played nothing but a strat for nearly 40 years when playing electric. I love the strat, but I like a bit of variety too. At the Cream reunion a few years ago Clapton's strat sounded weedy alongside Baker and Bruce.
It's a common misunderstanding, that Clapton doesn't use Gibsons, but Clapton has played Gibsons and Martins throughout his 45-year career. There's lots of Clapton with Gibsons videos on YouTube, even on my channel :)
Clapton plays Gibson now and then, most ESS 335.. Gibson have i singnature model of ESS 335 with Clapton's name on, Clapton bought a ESS 335 in 1964...
This demonstrates what a great singer and understated (a word that does not necessarily apply to Eric)guitar player Andy Fairweather-Low is. A brilliant version of a classic.
There's something about when he picks up blackie in front of a crowd? It's just, magical, words can't even explain how natural and easy he makes it look, master of his talent!
Wow. I love Clapton, and once again I find a clip on Youtube that proves him to be (excuse my language) the FUCKIN SHIT! This is a real musician, not timbaland, spear, aguliara, etc
If you did notice, i put the article "the" in front of "fuckin shit". I didn't say he is fuckin shit, i said he is THE fuckin shit, which is a big difference man!
It's a cultural thing...saying someone is "the shit" is like saying "the dogs bollocks". In the UK at least, saying someone or something is "the dogs bollocks" is a complement, and is not implying that the person/thing is the testicle of a canine :o)
Slunky 08 - Thank you!!! Like others above I have been dying to see this song by Andy Fairweather-Low ever since it was shown on Japanese TV some 8 years back. He stole the show from Clapton and I have never been able to forget it. Thanks to Slunky & You-tube I can see it again. And again. For those who want a another high see Clapton & Billy Preston do "River of Tears". Try not to cry.
Awesome! I figured it was out there but I checked multiple torrent sites and asked a Cream msg board if anyone had it and came up negative for both. Do you know of a torrent site I could find it on? specialagentslowhand, In fact I'm on the Cream msg board :) and was already on the original Cream 2005 official one. I'm sure you got some of my video clips on that :)
Ok, i have to say this is the video I was craving to see on youtube!
