  • Excellent. Thank you for sharing this video. It helped to alleviate my fear of the surgery.

  • @phds2 im probably gunna get the surgery in a few days....but good luck to u!and dont be scared if u dont get it fixed u can develop cancer so u should be happy

  • How the hell I arrived here

  • i have a Hiatal Hernia had it for years cant say i like it heart burn, sharp quick pain in the chest u name it not fun to have dont understand how i got it some of us must have all the luck and for some a Hiatal Hernia can mimic a heart attack infact it can cause a pannic attack heart race's sweats when i first realized i had this i was just walking out of a building and dam a sharp pain calls the dr he orders a uper gi the crap they give u tast nasty but results was a Hiatal Hernia .

  • God bless doctors, not enough recognition goes out to them for doing things like this. many thanks!

  • In hospital recovery is 1-2 days, and you will need to recuperate for about 1 week. It can be used to treat all types of hiatal hernia. Medication can give you symptomatic relief of the heartburn pain, but does not stop the reflux or prevent the hernia itself from worsening over time. If it is a small hiatal hernia and an antacid medication is effective, then that is probably fine, but there is never anything wrong with a second opinion.

  • My gastroenterologist did not even mention this as a possible treatment. Is this only appropriate for certain types of hiatal hernia? How long is the recovery period?

  • Doctors are amazing

  • totally cool. I love seeing how the human body is 'assembled'. Love the way that thing just sucked out the piece of excised tissue.

  • damn this video totally horrified me :( why do i have it, such a bad luck.

  • @hilaed I might have it and I'm worried about all the years of reflux and the damage it did to my esophagus.. I really hope I don't have Barret's.. In the other hand, my cousin had this surgery for his hernia and he was fine.

  • from my scrotum up to where the line where the leg fold side ways inwards to the stomach and to waht seems to be around behind the liver is at the bottom of my back on the left side of my stomach (same general spot in the front) my catch and release pressure isnt building up the way it should because of all of this and i have to push something up my butt against the left and and in the right spot something builds up and lines and then i out put otherwise i can't and its a pain in the ass. :P

  • Very informative vid. Now I know what to expect.

  • What a beautiful surgery. Thank you for posting...

  • wow! Thanking you for this, I just had 2 in 1 surgery to remove my gaul badder as well as hiata hernia both key hole, I'm amazed at how neat the op is, no after effects, the only problem is to stop myself from doing what comes normal like driving/chores etc, God bless.

  • i think i have gerd, but i also suspect that i a haital hernia. how do you know you have it.

  • One of the easiest ways to diagnose a hiatal hernia is with an upper gastrointestinal swallow study (you drink some radio-opaque dye, and they shoot some x rays. If part of your stomach is above your diaphragm on the x-ray (easily distinguishable by a trained radiologist), then you likely have a hiatal hernia

  • @mdrosen9 thanks

  • @mdrosen9 You can also swallow food grade dye tablets before you go to bed (red), if you wake and see a lot of it in the morning.....well then, something is probably going on.

  • @bltrrs you go to a gastro doctor

  • @hilaed im due for stomach endoscopy on the 18 of october.

  • @bltrrs goodluck^^

  • Amazing. I cant get enough of these laparoscopic videos. Just looking inside how everything is connected. We are organic mechanical machines.

    Cool music to.

  • god bless medicine man, one question, how dangerous is this op'?

  • Small risks of damage to the esophagus/stomach and some pretty major blood vessels in the area, but the key is good visualization and steady hands give safe and reliable results.

  • @mdrosen9 Great video!!! How long before the areas you repair grow together independent of the stiches? I have a HH that was 3-4 cm when last checked.......now it is getting worse......regurgitating food.....yuck. I think the PPI's acutally make it worse because food feels like it sits in my stomach a lot longer, feel bloated and more prone to regurgitation.

  • Thanks for the post. Allows me to visualize what I am reading in the textbook. :-)

  • that's a lotta goop x)

  • is this open surgery or is a camera on a tube slide inside a slit in the skin?

  • This surgery was performed using a rigid camera within a tube, passed through a slit made in the skin. The term is laparoscopic surgery (as opposed to open surgery).

  • why were there so many cuts, was that to cut tissue to get to the hernia sit?

  • uuh interesting huhu~!

  • Very good.

  • jeez! the whole stomach!? I think I might have a hiatal hernia because i have chest pains, it hurts like heck when I eat and drink, and I'm not having hardly any bowl movements.. I do pass gas, though I cant eat much.. I've also suffered from flu like weakness, achiness, chills, dizziness, and headache for a week or so and it all started at the same time.. I wonder if I had a small hernia for years and it suddently got larger? I smoke and cough a lot and have gained a lot of weight (beer belly)

  • Coughing and central obesity (beer belly) = raised intra-abdominal pressure. This will worsen any pre-existing hernias. To diagnose a hiatal hernia best to get a barium swallow or an endoscopy. If you do have one diagnosed, I would get it fixed, because they only get bigger, and when serious problems occur the surgery is much riskier than when it is fixed electively.

  • Had stomach problems for years. Stomach showed up on a routine lung x-ray, followed by CT scan. Saw gastro doctor, referred to surgeon. Laprascopic procedure didn't work. Stomach already in chest, too far. Open surgery. Feel like a new person! I am 52 year old female. See a doctor, don't put it off like I did. Save the pain!

  • your symptoms are just like mine and they are getting worse. I was found to have a sliding esopogeal hiatal hernia and it causes so many awful symptoms and they think it may be putting pressure on my vegus nerve. That is all they know, I live in KY.....which is not the doctor capital of the world. I am miserable and need it fixed though. Do you have any other symptoms. I hope you find out what is wrong.
