i am Italian, so i guess i am pretty neutral in this UK versus US debate. All I can say is that Oasis always sounded like a good/fine band to me, but it's always been like they acted like they were the best band in the world, better than the Beatles, without ever being that great. What i dont get is why the Manics or the Mansun didn't get the respect and fans they deserve overseas. those are the latest greatest British bands to me.

Also in Radioheads favor...they never really had that one big stand out record that people compare everything that they do to.
None of the Radiohead records have ever had the commercial success of Morning Glory. So they don't have the pressure of living up to a particular previous work. Each album in reviewed independently. Every Oasis record is reviewed against the critical success of Definitely Maybe, or the commerical success of WTSMG.

I went to all the Oasis shows at Wembly 3 weeks ago , and the one question I heard constantly everywhere I went in London was " Are Oasis as big in America as they are here ? " and my answer was this: The american oasis fan base is a very loyal , hardcore , group of fans, and actually travel from city to city to see multiple shows, however, in sheer #s ...No , but you can get closer to the band here than in the UK , because they play theaters and large clubs "
