CHINNA ATI - China ati is a set of techniques taught in a few Kalaripayat schools. The origin of these techniques is credited to some Chinese sailors.
Phillip Zarrilli, a professor at the University of Exeter and one of the few Western authorities on kalari payat, estimates that the art dates back to at least the 12th century CE. The historian Elamkulam Kunjan Pillai attributes the birth of kalari payat to an extended period of warfare between the Cheras and the Cholas in the 11th century CE.
In Sangam, Kalari was not used as a martial act according to Dick Luijendijk, a researcher at the university of Nijmegen. "Kalari" is a centre of learning in Kerala. they taught language, math etc. later on, there were fight schools, thats what "payattu kalari" means.
@alp4a Give me three cows and one elephant for my sister. She looks like a goddess. This master looks like the real deal on part 4. I wish there were more videos.
All the martial arts have originated by copying animal movement's martial arts can only be refined you can't say one copied from another, history show's kalari exits more than 5000 year's old chines kung fu dis not exist by that period which proves which came first and MOST OF ALL BUDDHA IS NOT MONGOLIAN HE WAS OF INDIAN ORIGIN.
@angryaznman first you denied that kung fu originated from india and now you are deniying that buddha came from india!!! Do you even know his full name,Anyway its a waste of time arguing with a immatured asshole.
Hey mate ramsen i can tell you that you need to do more research ok because shaoling temple martial art never originated from the south indian guy named bodhidharma. It was originated from kirata mongoloied race of himalaya or nepal and traveled to the india and china.Buddha himself was mongoloied man from nepal not india.Aryans were not inventor of martial art it was kirata mongoloied race of himalaya.
@samrianandme Please use respectful langauge! This documentary is about a divine martial art that has a lot of culture behind it. At least refrain from using foul language here.

Man couldn't they get a narrater with credibility?? Typical BBC trickery. A serious doc. here yet when this aired I remember we all thought, why is yob Dennis Waterman doing a voice over? India must make a documentary about the Royal Family and have the village idiot narrate it. See how the WASPs would like that!
