I don't think Burt and Hal meant for this tune to have post apocalyptic overtones, but I thought of it this past weekend, when the crazy California preacher was predicting the rapture. It's a wonderful song.
This is such a wonderful song. With its' Oompa carnival- like beat, juxtaposed over a1920s ballroom dance string accompaniment,- it seems to be of a former time, however its lyric presents the human experience of observing change so delightfully, it instantly becomes relevant to the listener. The cover art on the original album has always suggested to me a post-apocalyptic image- with B.J.Thomas left walking about an world emptied of people. The song becomes ironic. Its' great! Fantastic job!!
Burt Bacharach & BJ Thomas ... that combination maravilhosaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!! ..
hear that melody is lost the fear of being alone in a dark room and turns the dreams of a trip to the past thousands of years. that sound and I still live a relationship of an ever-present desire, as when someone leaves a love note where it will always be found.
burt bacharach & bj thomas ... que combinação maravilhosaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! ..
I've always loved this song. It came into my head at the start of my long walk this morning and it's been there ever since. Took me back to the sixth grade? 1970? when it was on the charts....Glad to find it here...
....Ahh, now to look MacArthur Park by Richard Harris...Life is good
I love this song. I never really quite got if it has some hidden meaning or not. At face value, it's catchy, interesting, has a nifty, almost Brechtian quality. But a tad unsettling..? Maybe? Anyhow, thanks for loading it on here. I love it.
@bingotheraccoon Who knows. You can read into it whatever you want. I just thought it worked well with "ghost town" type pictures. Thanks for watching. I admit to being surprised to see someone your age watching a BJ Thomas video. That's refreshing.

@terjecan Google it yourself. I can see where you'd think that. I often misunderstand lyrics to songs. I always research them. Thanks for watching.
