Thanks for posting a great video w/great camera work. Don't worry about all the wannabe posts, you did an excellent job of driving that beast. I know the speed of gears and yeah the GT3 pulled away on the straights which will indicate what kind of speed he was going. He was not relaxing, he was driving it pretty hard and you did a great job sticking with him. Some people can't understand that it's very difficult to follow and you paced him well while not creating an unsafe situation.
Nice vid - clearly the Porsche driver was not going to push the turns on a wet day - with that muck money in a car I understand that. Kudos on your driving - love those Foresters - nobody expects them to do what they can do.
You can't get "lapped on a tourist day" at the Ring, you can get passed which is what happened. On a tourist day you can't complete full laps. I don't doubt the guy took it easy, but he was driving a race prepped car with a helmet race suit etc and thought he was the shit. I managed to keep up with him with my standard road car and 11 year old son in the passanger seat, and I also did not want to wreak my "beast".
Looks to me like you got lapped! Right when the rain started to get heavy the dude in the Porsche took it easy. I dont blame him, wouldnt want to wreck that beast.
Love the vid!! I have a Forester XT that dynoed 350. Glad to know they're so formidable even on the old Nur. I bet that GT3 driver was shocked he couldn't lose you.
Great to see this. I am lucky enough to have a Nissan GTR as well as a 2006 Forester STi, but this reconfirms what I tell everyone. If I could only have one car I would stick with the Forester STi. Where else can you get this sort of performance while carting a new bed back from Ikea?
Such a shame Subaru only making softcore versions of the new Forester.
If you google Bridge to Gantry you will know that all timing at the ring on tourist days are timed from the Bridge after you leave the carpark and finish the timing at the Gantry as you come back on the main straight. This is because you cannot complete a flying lap on a tourist day.
Awesome vid, but not a 9:45, you started the clock at the end of the straight. You just entered the straight when you stopped it. Still, very useful vid. Thx
2006 model, Ganador cat back exhaust, Tein adjustable coilovers, geometry setup for track work and sticky Hankook tyres. Thanks for the comments, camera is a handheld Canon on a suction mount.
Bad ass Forester!
