I have to say it has come down to taste these days. Both iOS and Android rule the world of smartphones. I'm saying that just to keep the peace with Apple fanboys, because Android simply has taken over iOS's lead in speed, UI and compatibility to the web (Adobe Flash). The Apple market remains a good selling point for iPhones. On the other hand, Android market has 146.179 applications now.

Looks remain a matter of taste.

windgod the android market has all the apps you need and more. the glass body on the iphone 4 cracks as soon as its dropped. the ip4 is only slightly thinner than the desire but the desire weighs less. voice quality is just as good if not better on the desire. video chat has been around for years so its nothing new or a big deal. the iphone os an overhyped peice of shit. would you like me to compare it to the desire hd now or have you had enough of being owned.

Apple is a company based on marketing and it is the prime reaason for their success. However, their products are well designed. Unfortunately, iphone costzs 3 times more than the desire over here and desire is a better phone imo - tested them both and I see no application that the iphone does better. Not to mention the full application of google apps which are super useful and well, flash support.

The desire will probably in heard of in about six months. Yet new phones will come out trying to beat the iPhone and calling them iPhone killers. The iPhone 4 will be compared to other phones for a long time. If you can afford it, but the new iPhone 4, apple keep updating the phone and small improvements are coming out every now and then. iPhone 4 sets the benchmark for other phones and non will surpass the iPhone 4 until well iPhone 5? :-)

@F1A3M3N7E Android currently doesn't use hardware acceleration from the graphics processor like the iPhone does. On top of that, I have noticed the text reflow DOES infact slow pinch zooming down a bit. Mainly because of the lack of GPU support for the UI, it looks choppy on some things. Actual performance though is usually really good, even compared to the iPhone 4.

- Desire is certainly NOT running windows. It runs Android.

Facetime? You would have to use a Wifi connection. You could just use a netbook with a webcam if you are restricted to wifi anyway. Less hazzle and cheaper.

The reason iphone 4 pinch to zoom on the web browser seems smoother is because on iphone, it don't re-render the page to fit the screen, it just zooms in. On the desire, when zoom in, the page re-renders to fit the screen so you don't have to pan all over the place. so if you try to pinch to zoom to quickly whilst desires re-rendering the page, it will seem abit twitchy. The person doing video isn't smart enough to know this. lol

@axlcrush this does appear to be the case, its the same with the galaxy s in the pre production models iv used. The multi touch is very smooth but the text re flowing is almost non existent. I prefer the slightly choppy multi touch with proper text reflow otherwise you just waste time booming in and out till you can read everything properly

@ossi303 can do in fact I just rooted my deire and am running 2.2 but sad to say after testing it with my friends stock desire its sometimes faster sometimes slower. I could possibly do a video with all three. This test was filmed with a sony Vivaz btw.
