Hi Larry, the reason you cant access any of the buttons is due to the d3O material! d30 is designed for impact protection, ie, from impact from dropping it. However, the d30 is not intelligent enough to distinguish between the impact of dropping it & the impact from pressing it! If you think about it, when you press the button, the d30 activates & hardens as it thinks it is an impact! d30 is great for ski wear, etc but not designed for this type of item. Tech 21 have not thought this one through

I don't mind at all. Aslong as my phone is proctected by any side impact. I have it and use it with a clear ivisashield and believe me no other case can deliver as much protection as this case.

I dont mind the not having access to the mute switch, I'm always forgetting to switch mine back on so at least this stops me from missing calls!

I forgot to say that i called Tech 21 UK to advise of the problem. They said the iband would stretch after a while & soften up to give u access to all buttons, when i asked why it shows the CEO taking the band off in the video to mute his phone, the designer couldnt answer me! Tech 21 are even trying to cover up this problem. By doing this. they make u keep the case a little longer which then voids your chance of returning it for a refund within the usual 7-14 days! BIG CON & avoid this company!

Great review, the guy you talk about in the Tech 21 video in the side bar is the CEO of Tech 21, Jason Roberts - if he has to take the band off to acess the side buttons then it is defo a HUGE FAIL and goes against the marketing on their website that states all buttons are accessible!!! Also have you tried to put any 3rd party headphones into the jack with this case on. IT DOESNT TAKE ANYTHING OTHER THAN APPLE HEADPHONES!! Shocking failure and avoid this. I returned my one!!

Great upload, thank you! One can always find complimentary reviews about nearly every product around, but it's the rational, critical reviews that are the most useful ! Some of the faults with this design beggar belief ; hope they get to fix them in a future release, as the central idea is promising...

I bought it last week, after 3 or 4 days without being able to mute the iphone, the band streched out and all the buttons on the side are now working! Before giving it back use it for a while!

How stupid. It's a great idea and looks REALLY sharp, but like... what?! The vibrate switch is one thing, but not to have the sleep/wake button work!? WHAT!? Thanks for the vid. Almost bought one.

Good review, maybe the white is softer then the black? I think if a company like incase would use D30 for the rails, then you would have a perfect case.

I looked at tech21 website and the full case does indeed of have the cut outs. I skipped this band case cuz of the design. Looks like i did the right choice. Thanks Larry.

Be careful. The full case has cutouts for the volume rocker and vibrate switch but NOT the power button.
