  • Very highly stylized (and very very well).

  • Hang on and enjoy a happening!

  • After a long day of work, I like to sit down on my leather chair, put on my sunglasses with a glass of wine or scotch, put this song in my stereo with the tall as the wall speakers, turn my subwoofer to it's max and bask till the cops come to arrest me due to violating the sound ordinance. Worth it every time.

  • I have just sobbed uncontrollably while listening - it moves me beyond words. I saw him perform it live decades ago in NJ and have never forgotten that magical night. I actually saw energy flowing down to his fingers and head from above! It was phenomenal! I also heard this in the Washington Episcopal Cathedral - and it sent me literally out of my body! MAGNIFICENT!!!

  • Was going to ask if this is the Wanamaker organ. So it is the organ of the Royal Albert Hall then ? Carlo Curley's version of this piece is dreadful, but Mr. Fox is the master...

  • this is the best god damn recording of this piece holy gawd

  • I wonder what Bach himself sounded like on this.

    Dr. Fox > Bach?

    Dr. Fox < Bach?

...Nah, not possible. He'd have to be God to play this with more passion.

  • @thenameiskip answer is Bach>God

  • GREAT, BRILLIANT, FANTISTIC!!!!!! So much passion. I believe this recording was made at the Royal Albert Hall in London,UK. I remember hearing this reocording in the early 80's on LP. I've never heard the Albert Hall sound so good.

  • happy halloween MWA HA HA HA!

  • 300 years old - and still rocks!

    A great performance much enjoyed

Also love this - Karl Richter BMV 565 on an historic organ.

Both sadly died in the 80's

  • I'm sorry, Virgil has it all OVER anyone else with his passion and enthusiasm. THIS is THE epitome of pipe organ.

  • E. Power Biggs version is better

  • I agree... all recordings of Virgil Fox are the standard for all organ music. It's incredible how one man can draw so much drama from an instrument the size of a small home... Dr. Fox is definitely one of my idols!

  • The sound, drive, intensity of Bach is unmatched in music today. Sit back and listen to music in it's finest form.

  • Nice! I love this song! It's so dramatic.
