This song was NOT first recorded by Hank Williams. It was one of Hank's first hits, but it has been recorded by about a half a dozen times before Hank covered it. The first recording was by Elsie Clark in 1922, then Jack Shea also in '22, then twice by Emmett Miller once in 1925 then in 1928, and Rex Griffin covered Miller's version in 1939, and that's the version Hank covered. The early versions have an intro and another verse that no one does anymore.
When this guy sings 'em they stay sung.
Great!
