Just phenomenal. Amateur video and sound of the highest quality, recording the best tune, in the best gig ever of my 35 year experience. And I get this for free. There is a God.
great concert and this was the best song of the set - one of the best performances I have ever seen live.. the feeling in the crowd was electric, they knew the song fine and the applause in the middle wasn't because they thought it was the end of the song, it was a recognition of beautiful lyrics beautifully performed
the crowd didn't know the music and began clap at minute 5:00 when the end instrumental solo began. They don't know the lucky they had to be there! Wish I had also the chance to be there!
Will be in there for the DVD. The greatest gig of my 40 year experience, with a fried egg on top. And since that includes Queen for 40p and Floyd for £1.65 the accolade is not given lightly.
I was there on june 28th 2009 in London, all the way from Holland to see the greatest live performer of all time perform in Hyde Park. What a GREAT night it was! I'll never forget this my whole life. Thanks Bruce for giving me som much beautiful memories over the years. You rock!!! ;-)
Saw and heard this beauty for the first time in 1981 in Brussels during "The River" tour. I was 19. I cried my eyes and heart out. And still do whenever this one hits me
@vermeer11136 Brings back many fond memories of cruising down Main st in my 70 Cuda, still got the car and thank Bruce for bringing those days to life with this song. Many teardrops have fallen since I first heard this song and its given me a chance follow my dreams home, even if just for a few moments. Beautiful song,
I have like this song for years but, one thing about this song. hey BRUCE listen up, I can see you're a millionaire and all your glory but, BBC's did not have fuelie heads. That was SBC on injected cars #461's. I wonder if anyone ever corrected him.
@futoandutoo What? You want him to change the lyrics? The car is hardly the point of the song.
For that matter, racing in the street isn't the point, either.
I think he's writing about the difficulty of keeping a relationship that is satisfying to both partners.
The dilemma: How much do you compromise your happiness so that someone you love will be happy. If you come home and wash up, and go racing in the streets, causing her such pain (eyes that hate for just...), do you really love her?
I was with my mom.. She's a huge fan. I didn't like Bruce before but I have to admit, he really rocked that park down! I wish I will see him again live.
What a day!! Or should I say what an evening! Was shouting at the TV when we saw him play at Glastonbury the NIGHT before telling him to go to sleep!! get some rest! I don't think he did get any and wow...what an amazing performance!! Practically 3 hours and the man is 60, a true honor to be in his company! thanks bruce!
The Danny thing is getting to me now. I remember an interview with the Boss where he said, as I recall it, that the biggest achievement was that the E Street Band were all still alive, so it must have hurt so much when Danny lost his fight. What a guy, what a band.
Like Mazzer0, it always brings a tear to the eye when this song starts up, it did on the night and it has again. Brilliant camerawork and thanks for posting
This was my first time Iv seen Springsteen in Concert , it was an amazing gig (this being a highlight) and turned me from a casual listener (who just knew the hits) to being an obsessive in the course of over 3 hours. I got a new found respect for the Boss & E Street band. Can anyone tell me why he held is Tele up during the Piano solo?
Yes, sorry sanderchj, it takes not just the band to deliver, but also someone with good kit and a good viewpoint to take the trouble to record and post.. Not a trivial job at 9 minutes - respect! Your sound is like being there.
My favourite Bruce song, never fails to choke me, not ashamed to say a tear left my eye as the piano first started. i'm really lucky to have seen it 3 out of the last 4 gigs i've been to. The O2, Emirates (2nd night) and Hard Rock. The Professor is a legend by the way. Thanks for posting and great camera!!
For me this was the standout moment of a stupendous day. Magnificent piano work by Roy Bittan. The Prof is,I believe, 60 this very day. Happy birthday if so. People talk because the volume has been turned down at big festivals by cautious councils.. In the old days, even the quiet numbers were too noisy to hold a conversation. It's not big, and it's not clever. At one or two points I had to point out to yakky dimwits that I had paid my £50 to hear Bruce, not them.
Hey for great Bittan piano try Fire Inside by Bob Seger. I've seen it here on YouTube, but despite what the video shows, Bittan is playing piano, like he does on other Seger stuff.
And Giordano used to play piano with Pat Benetar - grossly underused, but fantastic on The Good Life on her True Love album - spotify it
Second Racing in The Street I have seen in the UK in 18 months - did it at the O2 in 12/07. This was even better but I had to tell some morons behind me to STOP BLOODY TALKING. Why do people do that at concerts, that and push through to the front when it is jammed packed. Oh and smoke as well!!
i thought when i was there that it was an incredibly special moment to be a part of...like being a witness to somthing sacred...most bands dont make you feel like that...thanks for allowing me to revisit that moment!
Thanks for posting. Brilliant job.. Great gig with this the highlight for me... 20years seeing the bruce and the first racing.. Iv been quite lucky.. For You then iv seen all my fav songs live... thanks again for posting...
highlight of the show for me,, no doubt.. when i heard it in tampa after danny, it was unbelievable, and not heard it live since. amazing surprise and out there. thanks bruce.
A truly brilliant recording. Wa there at the front with my daughter ( her first but not last Bruce show). A special day. This moves me to tears. Thanks
Wonderful day - seen him 9 times since '85 and this was up there with thr bst - highlights for me were this & Jungleland - my daughters are now the next generation of fans - their first Bruce concert! Thanks for posting
Amazingly shot! Felt like i was in the 5th row! Bruce/EStreet...tightest band on the planet. JUST LOOK AT 1:40 w Bruce and Max the druumer.. 100% in synch..I'm From New Jersey and can't wait to venute across The Pond for a festival like this...CHEERS!
The piano/organ solo and how it builds up is just something out of this world.
