Don't forget that in almost all states, it is legal to use deadly force to prevent the arson of an occupied building. It is often hard to tell if a building is occupied, and I'm sure the law will side with you if a reasonable person would assume a home would be occupied.

because people refuse to adapt, or think out of the box, they resort to stupidity. there are tons of ways to get out of a bad situation. do some research, find cheaper housing, sure it sucks but if you want to avoid a shelter, you have to. plan your displacement if it is inevitable. if you cant avoid a shelter, then at least get a storage unit you can get on the cheap. put your things in there that are essential, sell the rest. focus on getting back on your feet, learn to live off the basics.
