Dear Mr. SJisBack, I had missed seeing the Raga in the beginning of the song. Thank you for drawing my attention to it. I always had a strong feeling that it is Malkauns but thanks for confirming the same.
Can anyone please tell me what raga is this? It is so lovely. I see that Panditji has sung it in different styles (atleast 3). I love this the best. and is the most touching.
I am sure he is now entertaining Sri Vittal in Vaikunth.
this abhang is probably captures the entire essence of Hindu philosophy,in particular the Bhakti movement!! The words are SO powerful that an entire university could spend its entire creative genius and academic prowess in deciphering the hidden meaning of these simple lyrics
This crystallises the core of Bhakti, which is the total and complete surrender and loosing oneself forsaking all illusory obstacles. we have to loose our ego even to understand it! Only Panditji can sing this Abhang

WOW ! Man ! Who Are You !!!!!!!!!!!!
You have done a great job putting this comment here which should be .... must be carved in GOLD !
Those who do not understand the VALUE of this Abhang... please read Psyche1954's comment very carefully and with a "heart" !
Thank you very much for posting this. Tukaram Maharaj describes the state of realization in the three stanzas. The words of direct experience are indeed the most powerful of all! And Maharaj has himself chosen Panditji to convey to us his experience of the divine.
@dandakaaranya Litterally "Ghat" means earthen pot, of course it is a metaphor for our body. " Deep ujalala ghati" Light of (self realization) has illuminated my mind.
SJ bahu- barobar translate kela aahe... the sandili triputi part is very apt...Can I suggest you to read the "Amrutanubhav" by Dynanoba... your ability to comprehend most of the abhangs will greatly improve. :)
That being said- the track itself is perhaps the most sublime exposition of Malkauns...superb lyrics and translations - and ofcourse Bhimsen Joshi...
what a joy..............

What a wonderful rendering - in a few lines Sant Tukaram lays out the views of a realized soul. Truly inspiring.

Hi SJ, Welcome back. Its a huge relief.
A question:
what is the meaning of the word "ghaTi" in the sentence "deepa ujaLalA ghaTI"
dandakaaranya 2 years ago
@dandakaaranya Litterally "Ghat" means earthen pot, of course it is a metaphor for our body. " Deep ujalala ghati" Light of (self realization) has illuminated my mind.
Well that is my interpretation!
