  • So basically no one except Universal is allowed to make a movie about a great white shark is what the courts said ay?

  • Hey i film using a potato too!! twins

  • RIP James Franciscus and Vic Morrow.

  • It came out on dvd this month under the name of "Great White Death":)

  • I love reading all the comments on B movie videos from complete dickheads. :)

  • haha rated pg

  • @jzrock1

Wow. You reek of intelligence with that comment.

PG movies in the 70's/80's were a lot different than PG of today. There were many PG movies that contained gore and nudity (just not full frontal).

  • More like 'Great Rip off'!

  • most terrifing rated pg pffftt

  • I feel bad for the shark movies like these bring fear into people but they actually help the clean up the sea by eating dead things that end up on the ocean floor and they are curious by nature we should be afraid of our selves the movie should be called Beware Of the Humans a film the breaths horror into every living thing....lol

  • The most sued film of 1982.

  • i never heard of this in 1982. but i did hear of the go gos and the new chicken sandwich at mcdonalds.

it would be worth watching ro see the cloths and settings. jaws 2 came out summer 1983.

  • @The096757 Jaws 2 came out in 1978

  • I liked this movie better when they called it Jaws .

  • @mwillblade its rips off the second as much as the first jaws film

  • It is actually more of a ripoff of Jaws2 than Jaws. Its got the teenage kids getting killed off, a helicopter crash scene and even the overall feel is more Jaws2.

  • I take it this is the Italian version of Jaws ?

  • I wish this movie was easier to find.

  • I'll be damn, i didn't know this movie existed.....R I P....VIC MORROW

  • PG? How did they get a PG rating for that lmao? Not even PG 13! That would SO not fly today!

  • Did They Use the animatronic Shark From Jaws? Cause it Looks like it.

  • @trex98761 which one are you reffering too? Bruce, the left-side cut out, is the only reamining figure, and there was about 4 they made.

  • "A peaceful, quiet, summer resort"

*Guy gets smacked off the Windsurfer"

    Guy: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

    Pretty Ironic right?

  • Wow! Has there ever been a more blatant rip-off in movie history!?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH LOLx1000 he says "the most teryfiying motion pic from 1982...........raited pg"

  • This should of been Rated R!

  • lol... sharks make explosions?

  • Love the radio-controlled helicopter ripping off the JAWS 2 scene... ; )

  • The makers of Great White were sued back to the stone age by Warner Brothers. They claimed it was (and it was) a colossal rip off of Jaws. It's only available on DVD in Europe. LOL.

  • Thanks for posting this 1982 tv ad. It takes me back to when I was just completing the 5th grade at P.S. 71 in The Bronx.

  • How did the name "Great White" ever come up?

the original name is L'Ultimo Squalo which means

    The Last Shark

  • @cryptid85 Actually its original title was White Death when it was being made, then right before US release,it was changed to THE Great White, then finally was changed to just Great White. But for oversea releases of the film, they stuck with The Last Shark.

  • @DVDRulers

Beat me to it. Love this movie.

The Japanese laserdisc was awful though, I got a DVD-R from that source years ago... Cinema de Bizarre's DVD-R looks so much better.

  • Um?.....Jaws? Ha jaws was release in 1979? and this came out a few years later? This is just a bad version of Jaws and bad acting! The only good thing is you saw the shark alot more then Jaws.

  • Not bad... considering the only thing i don't like about this movie is the terrible special effects

  • That guys Mustace killed the shark!

  • The shark is actually somewhat more anatomically correct compared to Bruce from Jaws, but it's still ridiculous. It even "barks" or "roars" at humans

  • Is that town SERIOUSLY named PORT HARBOR? Kind of contradicts eachother, huh?

  • @burmiester1 what are you talking about? My hometown is Inlet Bay

  • @burmiester1 In the film, its actually called South Bay...not sure why they called it Port Harbor in the trailer.

  • I heard that Universal Pictures sued the italian producers for plagiarizing the Shark from Jaws, and after pictures one their case, Great White was pulled out of the theatres shortly after it's release in the U.S.

  • they had to have Vic talk with an accent?

  • Love the lil toy helicopter scene, lol!

  • Poor Vic Morrow died the year that was released.

  • And the oscar for best rip off from JAWS goes to Great White.

  • I actually got to see this the one week it was allowed to play...Universal sued and had an injunction put on the film after seeing it rake in millions, and the film was yanked from theaters. It still can't get a printing in this country...Yes,it's shitty, but watchably shitty as only the Italians can do...You can find bootlegs from Europe...I highly recommend it to bad movie lovers who think they have seen it all...I still have the original theatrical poster..priceless!

  • @mandingoviking yes so how do i find a copy

  • @redbaron932 -

  • cinema-de-bizarre has a great print for 10 bucks!

  • @mandingoviking how do i find a copy for free on youtube

  • @redbaron932 DVD Rulers also has a great print (non-japanese) for just $6,thats where I got mine

  • @UnknownThomasFan1 thanks

  • that would be funny if jaws saw this movie and sued the producers

  • @coopebt jaws? you mean bruce? which is the name of the shark from jaws

also "jaws" didn't sue this movie but steven spielberg sure as hell did i can't even find a legal copy of it here in america anymore

  • @gojirafan430 well sooory for forgetting that

  • @coopebt your not forgiven (.)_(.)

  • @gojirafan430 ha. ha. ha. very nice of u to say tht

  • @coopebt eye no

  • @gojirafan430 tht wasnt a complament

  • @coopebt then you said it not me :)

  • "Great Shite" by the looks of it...

  • Oh James Franciscus and Vic Morrow, how could you? Were you really that hard up for money?

  • This a copy of Jaws. This was featured in the 50 worst movies ever made list on IMDB

  • Trash pur! ;-)

  • @juicyhog564 The ratings system was much different back then. All these family friendly "PG" movies would've been a "G" back then. "PG" was closer to a "PG-13" or even an "R" in those days. An "R" was more likely to be an "NC-17" now.

  • I knew this movie existed(1st time seen this trailer in almost 30 years).I remember the movie trailers on tv back in 1982 when I was in 3rd grade.Back during the 1990's and the early years of the 2000's,this movie was always in the back of my cinema thoughts. Was never unable to find this movie on vhs video back during the ol' days.

  • after a good 5 days in released universal sued the studio and won they had to destroyed all the copies so it never had a video release but the movie poster is still available to buy though they did copy "JAWS" so even now great white isnt on vhs dvd and never will see the light on blu ray

  • @scrowfan41Thats in the US yes. It´s available on DVD in several countries in Europe. It´s a pretty shitty movie, and obviously a total ripoff. Still it managed to bring in $2,2 million on the only weekend it was shown. Castellari have done some good B-movies though. Inglorious Bastards, Big racket and Street law are still entertaining actionmovies.

  • They totally ripped off Jaws and Jaws 2 as well. The helicopter scene was an almost shot-for-shot remake of the same scene in Jaws 2, only it was done with greater effect the first time 'round! There's even an old sea-dog like Quint in this one!

  • Haha 0:26...Quint wannabe?

  • Can you spell, RIPOFF?!!!

  • I remember when this movie came out in early 1982. It was pulled from theaters within a week....lawsuit threats from Universal, Spielberg hovered.

  • I once saw a film called monstertruck as a kid. When I watched it again some time ago I hated it. It really sucked. All the magic from that time was only beacause I had never seen a actionfilm, and therefore it was great. Whatever you see as a kid is something special -because when your a kid everything is special. It is like everything is magic. Is it not??

  • OH SHIT!!!!!!!!!!

  • clearly a rip off of Jaws big time

  • is it true its banned in the USA? the whole of the USA ??

  • In the name of Howard Dean how many freakin Jaws rips are they gonna make? And why repeat the helicopter vs shark theme?

  • jaws knock off

  • The guy at 25secs played the man who was being chased by the germans or nazis in The Twilight Zone Movie. (1982). Great White and other shark films that came after Jaws are such a ripoff. They don't even come close 2 Jaws.

  • yep, that would be the late vic morrow, jennifer jason leigh's father.

  • can't imagine what inspired this movie :oP

anyway, i hope that pilot came out ok. he's cute! :oD

  • "The most terrifying motion picture of 1982"? I don't think so.

    PG for "Pretty Godawful".

  • @FiendsInRedSatin1 It had its moments. I prefer UP FROM THE DEPTHS and CRUEL JAWS when it comes to jaws rip-offs.

  • @Themaniacnextdoor true, those films were far better. It's too bad about "Great White". I love Italian horror rip-off films, and one about "Jaws" could've been great.

  • Anyone know where I can get a copy?

  • its out on dvd hen x

  • You can order it off Xploited Cinema or EBay

  • Big JAWS rip off

  • I'm no icthyologist, but isn't that a tiger shark when the narrator says the town has been invaded by a great white?

  • It is, but because the shark is made up of stuock footage from other films it goes from being a tiger shark to a great white to plastic

  • My God, that shark took out that chopper. Awesome.

    PG? Lol.

  • which is an idea they stole of JAWS 2, every shark film after the JAWS Series is awful and a complete rip off, besides Deep Blue Sea of course, that was actually half decent

  • Good ol' Castellari madness.

  • The most terrifying film of 1982? Yea, right. It was more terrifying when it was released in 1975 and called 'Jaws.' What happened to the director of this eptc and the film studio that released it after Spielberg sued them? You don't mess with Spielberg!!

  • I ike the poster!

  • god stole it from Jaws thos Jack assess

  • This movie, was yanked from theaters because, the ideas were stolen from JAWS. FVI was slapped with a lawsuit by universal.

  • The shittiest film from 1982.

  • i saw this before since 2003 i saw this

  • I really liked the Shark vs Chopper scene.

  • is that the same narrator from JAWS!

  • I own one of the original theatrical posters! It's definately one of my favorites(along with '79 'Prophecy')That's when they knew how to advertise a movie!

  • is that the same narrator from JAWS!

  • is it true this film is banned in the USA ?? still?? i heard there was a big legal case

  • For once I found a Jaws rip-off that looks good. How is this movie?

  • This film is up on Google Video as The Last Shark. The film sucks compared to this trailer for it.

  • Holy shit! When I was about 7 my mother took me to see this at the theatre in Tyler, Texas. Man, I forgot they even made this ripe piece of film. I guess that's how good it was.

  • You know what's bizarre? Vic Morrow is in this movie. He's the one who was killed on the "Twilight Zone" set.

Watch how the helicopter crashes at 0:32 -- looks just like the "Twilight Zone" accident.

  • I remember when this was kept from being released in the US. Talk about a "Jaws" ripoff! Vic Morrow looks like he's spoofing Robert Shaw.

Percy Rodrigues is the voice behind the "Jaws" trailers -- he's on board for this one too!

  • i seen this at the theaters summer 1982. loved it as a kid and now that i have it on dvd its god for saken horrible. could the movie be any more borrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ING!!!! The poster for the film ROCKS though. wish they'd come out with another shark movie, if James Cameron did it though. Gotta be action packed with non hollywood stereotypes. this movie is great for laughs too! good Ab work out... hee hee

  • Agreed. The movie poster IS THE ONLY THING about this "movie" that is good. The poster for this is even better than the original JAWS poster. But for the "movie" it's self...it sure as hell ain't no JAWS.

  • GEE i wonder what film inspired them, it wouldnt be by that chap who made the indiana jones flms

  • I actually seen this back then at the theatre and loved it as a kid. All these years later I found a copy and watched it again...WOW ! It is pretty freakin' awful !! Funny the shit you like as a kid !!

  • LOL

I so know what you mean!!

  • @DIOTD2008 it looked like the shark was smileing underwater.

  • @werewolfofhell I would die to get a copy of this... know anyone who has one?

  • @werewolfofhell where did you find a copy of this movie cause all the copies were supposed to been destroyed i wouldnt mind seeing this movie again.......i heard for years about a sequel to grizzly but only 2 scenes on you tube has appear where are people getting these scences from you would think the trailer to great white would had been destroyed as well so this movie wasnt imagined at all it really existed.

  • Great White, was yanked from theaters because the film was slapped with a LAWSUIT by UNIVERSAL because, it stole ideas from the first 2 JAWS movies, and the case was eventually settled out of court. UNIVERSAL WON THE CASE!!!! YAY!

  • that was so funny.

  • Shameless rip-off!

  • *cough* RIP OFF *cough*

  • BAD JAWS KNOCK OFF

  • Haha! I love Castellari´s movies though this was clearly a rip off. He has done some cool action movies and Tarantino is one of his most known fans. Just check out High crime and Big Racket and the Inglorius Bastards, a remake of the later one is being made by Tarantino now as i write this.

Great White made 18 millions in the States in very short time before Spielberg woke up.

  • this movie is f@#ked.

  • what a crappy jaws rip off but it made me laugh when the guy who was parasailing had his parasailer explode

  • pg......pg......PG!!!!!FUCKING PG MY FUCKING ASS IT A FUCKING HORROR MOVIE WHAT DIP SHIT SEID IT'S A FUCKING PG MOVIE

  • because pg 13 did not come around till 87 and it was not volinet enough to be R LOOK JAWS WAS PG

  • ahh good point

  • Not only did they copy the idea of Jaws, but the characters were very similar. Just an effort to make a fast buck.

  • saw this film summer 1982. it seemed so good back then at 12 yrs old. now i watch it and man is it one of the worst rip off films ever. Spielberg actually sued this company for making it and destroying all the negatives so it will never see the light of day again. unless someone like me has it on VHS. Ill never watch it again though...

  • Spielberg may've destroyed the American negatives, but the Europeans prints survived. Google Video has it up as The Last Shark. It's in English with Japanese Subtitles.

  • it sounds like the original announcer for jaws did this movie to

  • So the most terrifying film of 82 is rated PG? Please.

  • first of all, this NO WHERE NEAR good as JAWS(1975), and second, I agree with you all the way:)

  • burp

  • aahaahhhhaaaAAAAHHHahahahahah.

    ehm.

    sorry.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid and thought haha... what a Jaws rip off. But I also thought it looked just as good in the first Jaws. Been trying to find the dam movie for 30 yrs! anyone know where I can get my hands on a VHS or DVD?

  • ebay

  • Comment removed

  • Hmm, the shark at :19 looks like a bull shark...

  • I love this movie. I wish they would release it on video on the States. So far, the only official video release was a Swedish DVD.

  • terrible trailer.

  • this is a low..low...low punch for jaws! i'm sure that Spielberg gouged his eyes in when he saw this...watch the film, is a total copy of jaws 1 and 2 and the shark looks so stif like a co%$k!

  • You are 100% right. It is a complete rip-off but the trailer is probably the best rip-off ever in the history of rip-offs.

  • @DIOTD2008 Yes you can tell it's a combination of Jaws 1 and 2.

I still would like to see it though! :)

  • the same guy did the voiceover for the original jaws trailer...

  • No way!! This is the first I've seen of Great White in over 25 years. I saw this in the theater with my parents when it came out!

  • What did your parents think of it?

  • I don't know what they thought of it, but as a young kid, I ate it up. I'll watch any old Jaws ripoff - Piranha, Orca, Great White. I don't care, they're all craptastic :o)

  • This movie was even funnier than Jaws The Revenge.

  • Comment removed

  • In Europe it was called The Last Shark.

  • I remember when this movie came out. There was something on Entertainment Tonight at the time, that if the movie was not removed from theaters,Spielberg would sue..or something like that. The threat worked cuz I really wanted to see it at my neighborhood theater, but it vanished, probably playing less than a week.

Oh well,I still have my memories of seeing PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE,LASERBLAST,TREASURE OF THE 4 CROWNS,ANDY WARHOLS FRANKENSTEIN(in 3-D!)etc at that very same theater.

    Great days!!

  • This is one of the funniest trailers ever!

"The most terrifying motion picture of 1982"

    LMAO!!!

  • yes...who would've thought the most terrifying motion picture of 1982 was rated PG

  • yeah! the MPAA should have rate it R...or get the PG-13 rating already for this kind of films....by the way this is no film this is shit!

  • pg-13 wasn't around back in 82 until 84.

  • i know but they should have inveted it for the time of this release...wel that's mi opinion.
