  • serious guitars almost sound angry in this masterpiece. elizabeth

sings through it like a figurehead in the storm. Quite unflappable.

  • @flaxlawna I love the duet with Liz and Robins guitar here, sends

shivers down the spine with excitement, my fave from the album,.

The first time I ever heard them back in 83,they were playing this live :))

  • the tragede is that the musette has been silent some sixteen years

and robin is left playing the drums on his own. [ refabulate the

formerflowns and deliver dawn unto dusk]

  • Oh wow. This was my favorite track from this album. I can't believe that it has been more than 15 years since I last had a listen! So glad to have stumbled across your upload. I'm going to re-visit me some CT! Such an ethereal voice...takes me back. Thank you, shum65 for all of your great CT uploads.

dreamy guitar is out of this world...!!!! good 2 hear from U my friend... :))

  • In my top 5 all-time favourites.

  • @thevessel69 Mine too my friend, I cant say enough how amazing-

both the guitar and vocals are here, goose-bump heaven.....!!!!

  • I listened to all their songs probably more times than they did. My favorite lp? the 1 most discard: Garlands. I LOVE it. I am awed by it, It's dark and sinister and delivers very negative emotions mainly abuse and hurt: devil, hollow men, blood, bitch. climaxing with "speak no evil". listen to it for 10K times you'll see why. Then the second album they switched the grief with rage, starting with a monstrous "when mama was moth" climaxing with the striking wrath of "musette and drums".

  • @srpntnova Hiya mate, yeah, Garlands is my fave so atmospheric

and certainly dark with a sinister over tone, loved Head Over Heels too,

its crowning glory for sure the mighty "Musette and Drums" that was the song

I first heard them doing live back in 83, wow, what a new world of sound....!!

    Great comments my friend......

  • Nice, but you need much more, so much more to make a viedeo to fit this song. This is a piece of music that's majestic but somehow it underlines abuse. It's not the only Cocteau song to do that. Garlands is all about abuse. The lyrics to a song like this will never be revealed, so even if you had the means to make a video for it you'll need those lyrics.

  • @srpntnova Hi8 their, your so right my friend, its impossible to make

a video worthy of this classic track, that vocal, those guitars...!!!

Its an early video though for me, I have done another to a remix

of this classic, as for lyrics, only Liz herself knows the real words,

and thats how it should be, I just feel the experience, the words

just dont bother me, but I sure get those goosebumps...

    Great comments my friend..!!

  • Nice 1! I have 1 of those wood sculptures with the spear - like in the video - grandmother gave it to me :) but it fell and the spear busted :( need to try and repair

  • @randyj420 Hi randy, its a brilliant track, always gives me goose-

    bumps, that guitar is awesome....

I hope you can mend that sculpture m8, I,ve knocked mine over a

few times to, but luckily its never yet broke, phew..

Its good to hear from ya my friend.....!!!

  • One of my favorites!

  • @ParasiteSteve Hi Their, mine too my friend, its a classic....!!!

  • WOW POWERFULL!

  • @HarkerTV Cheers my friend, your so right, that voice, and those

guitars make for one hell of a classic track, my fave from the album.

    Thanks Harker.....!!!

  • Goddamn this song is good.

  • @bamboolaball Totally agree my friend, its my fave from the album.

That voice, and those guitars.....heavenly classic....!!!

    Cheers for your comments bamboolaball......

  • The best post punk song ever...

  • @ordnajelAoneuB Cheers my friend, its my fave from the brilliant

"Head Over Heels" album, both Robins guitar playing and Lizs

vocals are perfection....goose-bump heaven for sure......!!!

  • where punk rock meets alternative all of the feelings wrapped up inside spilling out as guts then the piano finds out sooner or later my luring illusiveness. swirls of diamonds and other precious finds. ok a simple dream sewn in sequence and candy-apple death.

  • Hi mate, Great comments, I like what your

    saying....!!

A class track for sure, an experience not to be missed....

    Cheers bigbigman3....!!!

  • @bigbigman3 WELL SAID

  • one of my all time faves i love those spiralling guitars at the end, astounding!

  • Hi mate, totally agree with you...

guitars at the end always give me goose-

    bumps...pure classic.....!!!

  • i remember dragging my dad down to Haight St. in San Francisco to Rough Trade(when there still was one, think the year was 1990 and I was 15 yrs old) and I bought H.O.H, Tiny Dynamine, Echoes in a Shallow Bay, Garlands, all on CD. My dad almost shit his trousers when the guy at the store rang us up and it came out to be like $75 because they were all still imports. HAHA...

  • Ha-ha, love that about ya dad shitting his

    trousers.....!!!

Wow those imports sure are expensive....

but well worth the money mate....!!!

I,ve still got them all on vinyl. love that nice

deep rich sound vinyl has...got em on CD

    as well of course....

    Cheers basshead....!!!

  • The mighty "Head Over Heels" album, the

first album I bought of theirs, a classic....!!

featuring this awesome track of course....

    and so many more....memories indeed.!!

  • Excellent video - brilliant.

I got into the Cocteaus in 83/84 - same time I was reading HP Lovecraft.

I always thought this, FiveTenFiftyFold and When Mama Was Moth were the themes (hymns?) to his stories that he never had.

    Thanks

  • Many thanks my friend, an early video this

I too got into the Cocteau's in 83, what a

    brilliant year that was mate.....!!!

    Thanx m8.....!!

  • sadly already way to much dominating and tormenting this kali-yuga,called what it wilth, knew it way to deep hurting since early childhood

  • I hope things are much better now for you

    Thanks for replying my friend....

    You take care...!!!

  • the build-up toward the end of this is so off the chain - the voice is 'merging' with the slide guitar...also sounds as if liz's voice is being fed thru a tape delay that gets faster and faster feedback/repeats.

  • Cheers shaft...That ending is awesome..

I can tell your fan from your enthusiasm

for this mighty track..Just love Liz's vocals

and that yodel she does so well..then the

GUITAR..!! as it screams and roars into

    infinity towards the end..pure classic..!!!

    great hearing from ya mate....!!

  • Fantastic voice and a totally wonderfull song...she could sing the phonebook in russian and I would still get a huge lump in my throat...

  • Hi mate..this is my fave from "Head Over

Heel"..as you said..Lizs voice is awesome

she definitely could sing the phonebook..

It was this track live on the Tube back in 83,that got me totally hooked on the band.

And that guitar at the end...heaven 4 sure.

Your so right mate..lump in the throat time

    Cheers cantonadenmark....!!!

  • hey shum ... just discovered your comment here - musette and drums also was the beginning of my love with the Cocteau Twins (2 years later though - but I was only 14 by then and got it from my sister) and I knew from the very beginning that this is very special and will be with me for the rest of my life. Good to hear that you also got hooked on it :) ...

  • Hi my friend...good to hear from you....

Yeah..it was this classic that started it all

off for me....nice to hear it was the same

    for you also...
