Why isnt compound an OLympic sport? or is it/will it ever be?

It's basically because the IOC feels recurve is more athletic, and the compound excessively mechanical.

Since only one type of competition is permitted per sport a Compound competition would not only have to be different from the Recurve competition but also have to compete with other sports such as rugby, karate, roller-skating as a new Olympic sport.

@KBAsmile From what I hear, the hit and miss system in international competition will be there so that compound competition is different from Recurve for the olympics.

Because Olimpic games don't want to have some thing but diffrent bows. Like imagine- One runing mach on foot and other with shoes.

I think recurve is a great choise because its cross between New things (compound) and tradicional ( long bow, bare bow recurve and so on... )
