I liked this match however I'd like to see isai wd oos more to gain more ground and mess with forwards spacing some more. I prefer a falco who isn't in your face it's harder to fight I think because he has more options to adapt when approaching than when camping. Maybe its just me.

This also shows how good Forward actually was at the time, he actually managed to keep up and actually beat the vast majority of players he faced in 07-08. I live in AZ so I get to play with Forward from time to time and nowadays "2011 Forward" is much better than this Forward, even him being a "Retired Smasher".

I respect the hell out of Forward as a person and a gamer.

Isai was a very situational player, he would always attack knowing what to follow it up with, and more often than not, it would be from that hit to Death. I understand that a lot of what makes these games so exciting to watch and play is that its so easy yet so hard to turn matches around. This game is one of the most technical fighters ever, seriously, we know someone has had a 1 stock comeback in a 4 stock game, What kind of game had odds like those, A very technical one I'll tell you that

@nathan9384 yeah, the timing is the hard part because it doesn't matter if you can shl if they're poorly placed. Now a days people will turn laser spam against you. Dunno, it's pretty player dependent, but in general the average tournament player is a lot better at dealing with them than three years ago.

@DippNDots you're missing double edge laser recoveries. probably the hardest to do, as it requires you to use two parts of your thumb[if you're me], or moving it retardedly fast.

@KayC2SLO also really easy to do, even to time it so they both remain level and the first one isn't too high. At very close range it's ineffective too as a lot of characters can fit a tilt or even a fsmash in between lasers even if the first one hits them. "retardedly fast" eventually becomes muscle memory which is practically instantaneous. I can do practically all the tech strategies with a lot of characters but am by no means competent enough with their match ups to play them in tournament.

@DippNDots double edge lasering with placement about half of falco's body is NOT easy for any beginner to do. it doesn't happen. i'm in the same boat with you though, minus tourny play. i've never gone to a tourny, but i've kept up with ranked players in my city. quite a deal when canada's blunted object made his way down here. sadly i never got to play him.

But they also go to tourneys to play with and compete with top players from within their region and outside of their region. @glitch417 Isai around this point stopped playing seriously and afterwards but for the better part of the main tournament scene Isai was second to only Ken and used to get top 4 at just about every melee tournament not to mention that he was arguably the best teams player ever, so he's not overrated oh and he also basically invented captain falcons metagame. People come and go and get rusty if they don't play, even the best, but you shouldn't underestimate Isai's accomplishments.
