Picked up a 3rd Gen Glock 36 with the bump on the bar. Replaced the connector to a 3.5 Ghost an the trigger pull was a bit better but nothing like on my 19 & 23 Ge 3 without the bump. Ground down the bump, smooth trigger, a no-brainer. Thx for the vid, jr
best I can figure - the bump keeps the trigger bar in alignment during pull - it will keep the front of the bar at the same parallel distance as the rear - there is nothing at the front to keep it from moving to the right... this gives a consistent, aligned movement parallel to the slide.
I have 6 of the gen4 pistols - they all have that bump.
@schnabba hey bud I was curious as to if you have ever had any problems w/ any of your gen 4s? I just bought a gen 4 23 and have shot about 650 rounds so far and have never experienced a problem thus far
I just bought my Gen 4 30sf about 2 weeks ago put 50 rounds of cheap federal ammo and had extraction and feed issues I used my good ammo and same issue !!!? Im gonna try some fixes but I feel much more confident in my old ass Taurus pt145 same capacity smaller frame way smaller and 10yrs maybe 2 malfunctions that i can remember kinda shity I wanted to change it up and rock the glock but not quite yet ;(
Your using the pull gauge at an angle that your finger woulnd't be pulling the trigger. The bump is not causing the trigger to be different. Dry fire that guy at the range then load it up and fire it. Then tell me if you can't feel a difference. My glock triggers feel much lighter when I actually shoot a round through them than when I dry fire them. People have to find something to complain about, you said it has run perfect but still your not happy. I don't get it.
@mauser98k98 I personally like the Glock trigger, also love the reset felt click....no its not a target trigger for cutting cards at 40yds, its a self defense weapon and set up that way out of the box.
Since it has been a while, have you had any second thoughts on the trigger bar bump removal...would you still do it the same way? My local gun store has gen 3 & 4 pistols on hand so availability is no really a problem. Thanks for your time and your channel. God bless.
if you watch the video, anytime the gun is in his hand, his finger is either on the trigger or inside the trigger guard. very bad form. keep the finger up on the slide at all times until you're prepared to fire the weapon. even when i have my handgun field-stripped, when i am holding the frame, my finger is out of the trigger. again, practice makes perfect.
why is his finger on the trigger the whole time? "on target, on trigger. off target, off trigger." i know (or do i?) the gun is not loaded. doesn't matter. practice makes perfect. keep your finger off the freakin' trigger unless you're ready to shoot it, dude.
update to any potential purchasers of the gen4, purchased a gen4 9x19 on 1-16-2012(Nevada), fired 400+ rnds out the box using winchester white box 115g and American Eagle/Federal 115g, ZERO FTF or ejection issues i.e. hitting you in the face, 043 spring, 30274 ejector, (2)factory tested rounds 11-14-2011
I'm sorry but you people are so funny, a vid comes out about a new version of an awsome gun and there are problems, big shock, almost everything new is gunna have flaws at first whitch will most likely be fixed that's why you wait a few years after a product comes out to buy it. I have a glock 22 gen 3 and I couldn't be more happy. I'm not a die hard glock fan but glock is awsome!
"new is gunna have flaws at first whitch will most likely be fixed that's why you wait a few years... "
Wrong.
Completely wrong!
"waiting for a couple years" for it to "most likely be fixed" might be ok for an ipad, but for an item that when fails, has the potential of leaving you DEAD is NOT acceptable.
A flaw that hampers function on this kind of product is NOT acceptable.
@nolobede i've seen sigs jam and brake too. Every gun from every company can fail. the rest of your comment just shows how immature you are when it comes to discussing guns...
Its apparent you've missed the point. ANY "thing" manufactured can have a fault.
But maybe you should do a little research on recalls, failures, jams and breakage history on Glocks compared to Sig. Did you even watch the video?... Do you get its messsage regarding design and engineering? Failure to feed &/or eject? spring flaw...etc?....
@nolobede that's what i said, anything can fail. i don't have to do research, my glock 19 gen3 never had a problem and i would trust my life to it. i don't like the gen4 because glock took a proven pistol and messed it up. but i don't talk trash about sigs, i choose my guns from my preferences and not from popularity or statistics. and if someone says "glocks sucks ghetto crap real men carry sigs" i still think its immature. btw please define what a "real man" is in your opinion
@nolobede I'm sorry to disapoint you but no, Im not wrong and if Glock sucks so bad then why is it in law inforcement? Now I'm not gunna be gay and put down Sigs because I can admit when a product is good and I'm not a love one gun and hate every other gun type of guy. Oh and real men also wear pink, but that doesn't mean I'm gunna go out and buy a pink shirt!
"if Glock sucks so bad then why is it in law inforcement?"
Ever heard of "argumentum ad verecundiam"?...Watch, I can do it too:"Navy seals carry Sig P226"
So?
20 State police forces, Secret service and the SAS all carry Sigarms.
Because some carry a particular weapon, has no relevance to its engineering flaws & certainly not the manufacturers willingness to put out a product that doesn't need recalls or mods.
@nolobede I know that you think you know everything about everything but my brother is a police officer and he had to buy his own gun so.... wrong again. And I did not say all law enforcement carried Glock. Talking to you about this is pointless, it's like talking to a retard about physics no matter how hard you try he's just not gunna understand.
Wow... great comeback. You spend all day thinking that one up?
While you scrape up your immasculated gonads lady, try doing a little research and you'll see why this and 100 more videos were made... and why there is a "gen4" ... failures & recalls. Glocks are all about stovepiping, jams, and misfires... retard. Too bad you fell for the ghetto-glock hype.
10000 rounds in my Sig P220, never a failure, never a jam, never a flaw, not once.
@nolobede Thank you for the compliment, no it didn't take me long but thanks for your concern. I did a lot of reserch before buying my gun that's why I went with the gen3, no problems whatsoever, great gun. Sig is also a very good gun, in fact Sig and Glock are very close if not equal in quality. If you actualy did YOUR research you would know that too. It's sad how close minded you are, but I do like our conversations!
...If you actualy did YOUR research you would know that too.
And since I am a scientist, and an engineer, nothing is forefront in my mind more than "open minded thinking" THAT is what we do, and this is what brought me to the Sig.
"but I do like our conversations"
-Yeah, its like a gunfight without the bullets.
You don't need to defend your purchase... the whole conversation was just about facts, the failure stats and engineering flaws of the Glock. Like I said, its the data.
just got a glock 17 gen 4, and i've had like 6-7 rounds failed to eject, i get one around every 200 rounds, i only shoot federal ammo, and american eagle, blazer brass, and winchester white box ammo all in 115 gr. haven't shot any cheap no name ammo. and i shot a little over 1,000 rounds, and i always clean after i shoot it and lube, anybody having this problem?
@Andylopez172285 you may have the wrong recoil spring in your glock 17gen 4, call glock and give them the guns serial numberand the recoil spring serial number. I believe my recoil spring had 032 or 023 stamped on the back of it. If its the old spring they will get your info and they will send you a new one free. ive had 3 failures total out of 1400-1500rds 2 were with the old spring shooting umc and winchester whtie box. The new spring has had one but that was magazine related.
Not to mention ANOTHER dozen metal-framed guns that work better, look better, have better features and higher quality parts, and last a couple of generations longer than blocks.
Sweet! I see they're continuing their consistent, long history of taking what should work great out of the box, and requiring you to spend loads of time and money and frustration to get it to run as well as a dozen and a half other, better made plastic framed guns out of the box, which have a lot better features and ergos - all this, after paying way too much to begin with. Good luck with that, block fanboys!
@MsQuestor if you have extraction issues with gen 4 you need to call your gun seller or glock and they will exchange bad design parts for new which are working 100% for 9mm glock you need to have this number on ejector 30274 (i believe old was 366 - that one will give you bad shell ejections) also most new spring design for 9mm has number 0-3-4. if you update this parts your gum will work flawlessly , hope this helped.
@abradras Just got my G19 gen 4 today. Test fire date of Dec 2011. I made sure the spring was 0 3 4 and ejector was 30274 before I picked it up. I shot 200 rounds and got hit in the head, forehead, and face about a dozen times. This is unacceptable. Confidence with this gun is quickly dropping.
@polakatl yo. m sorry to hear that :( but im not a glock manufacture , i had same problem as you and i write post about what it fixed .. for me. i even fixed my problem alone with changing shape with file of my old 336 ejector. i tell you what i would do in your case.
1) i would observe ejector , if the end doesnt have some bump and its smooth. if not ill smooth it out.
2) i would take out extractor and polish top and bottom face which is rubbing against flame and oil it with silicon spray.
3) then i would polish internal parts - aka 36cent (or similar name) polish job.
4) then i would oil end of barrel and spring with silicon spray (let it dry out 24h before use)
5) i would pull back a gun and block it with block release (sry but i dont know right english terms) i would let gun puled back for 48 hours to easy the spring.
6) if this wont help i would hang my self :-D heh .. no i call shop for warranty check.
@polakatl ..other then that .. glock has very few parts if you have new ejector, new spring and you do all i told you there nothing left to do (i believe) ..other then "wrist limping" or ultra crappy weak ammo .. but i dont think thats your case .
i did to my gun all i wrote to you , but only new ejector and spring fixed it. there is nothing more i could help you with, hope this will help. peace. :-) and good luck ;-)
@polakatl my gun shoot now 100% non ejections flaws ..and i shoot cheapest ammo i can get here lol its factory reloaded ammunition. bullet is pure led with some color coat.
Glock is "late to the table" in releasing the new GEN 4 "ambidexterous" models (for leftys like me) and it would seem they screwed the pooch in their effort. Why fix what wasn't broke I ask? (referring to the new trigger bump etc.) So much for "Perfection" huh? I was all set to buy my first of several Glocks (3 at least) but no more... There are other choices today just as dependable and possibly even better. I'm just glad I did some reading before dropping my cash down..
I was intending to buy at lleast two new Gen 4 Glocks (I wanted a G23 and a G35) and the Gen 4 models are very appealing bacause I am a "lefty" but after researching and watching reviews of all these problems,, I am likely not to become a Glock owner. First the springs (OK I could live with that potential problem / fix) but now I am definitely afraid to purchase a "scritchy" trigger that doesnt break anywhere near what is advertised. No thanks! Now I am inclined to buy S&W MP Pro or Walther PPQ
I just got back from the gun store with my Glock 27 Gen 3, I was informed that Glock will be issuing a recall on the Gen 4s for the trigger group. I did not ask if he knew exactly the issue but, he is the Glock guy in the area and has proven he knows what he’s talking about, so look for a recall on Gen 4s, Hope they fix it for you guys.
The "bump" isn't creating that groove in your slide. It's the upper tip of the connector that rides the slide. There is space between the connector and trigger mechanism so the connector can move and let the plate rise allowing the firing pin tail to reset the trigger. I don't think the trigger weight or the difficulty with reassembly is the bump, IMO. It's possibly the bump riding that "reset" part of the slide, but more likely caused by not resetting the trigger before reassembly. My $.02...
I did the mod to my glock 22 gen4. I did not notice a maor difference in trigger pull, but i did a fluff 25 cent job first anyways.. but it was a MAJOR help with the re assembly ...the gen4 will now slide on real easy..as show in the video. thanks for the video
First, unskilled modifying of internal Glock parts is a really dumb idea. I'm glad it's working for you but even with your disclaimer I suspect you are opening yourself up to liability claims if someone follows your advice and ends up injuring themselves or someone else. Next, I have a new gen 4 G22 and it has the bump on the trigger bar and it goes back together just like every other Glock I've ever owned. Maybe your particular gun had a problem or maybe early production gen 4s had a problem?
@wscott52 This part is being put in all new Glocks it seems. I have a new 21SF with the bump on the bar, so it looks like they have phased out the non-bumped trigger bars entirely. I have also noticed what he is talking about, especially when compared to an early gen 3 23, where the slide catches on the bump and you have to wiggle it a bit to get it to go on. Definitely drags a bit, so it's not just his gun.
I've had zero issues with my Gen4 19, and I haven't called for the replacement RSA. The trigger did seem a bit stiff at first, but it has smoothed out considerably just over the course of live/dry firing 1000 times or so. No complaints here, even with the nub on the trigger bar.
@frankgon4 I'm just saying that after 1000 rounds or so it was smoother. Most factory triggers will get smoother over time, but I didn't think it was all that bad to begin with.
I have found the crossbreed supertuck hard to beat in an IWB and use a bianchi 82carrylok most of the time (little more comfortable...I run a gunshop so deep concealment is not an issue...on road trips or when it is I use the crossbreed...only IWB I've ever used and actually liked!
Just ordered a glock 23 gen 4. I'll let you know if I have any problems out of mine. Love the videos you do! I looked at the sig, h&k, and glock. For the price you can't beat a glock. In my opinion just as good as the other 2.
Measured it with my scherer 3.5 connector today at the shop on an RCBS trigger pull scale...de-bumped gen 4 trigger bar mirror polished along with other internals lighter striker spring= 4 1/4 to 4 1/2# pull ith most being right around 4 1/4!!
I had polished the crap out of my triggerbar and guts and really buffed and rounded the bump...assembly got way better and take-up smoother. I removed my 3.5 con. Cause it was crisper without it and heavy either way. This mod worked...back to 5 to 5.5 (with a lighter striker spring) average was 5 1/4#...went home and installed my 3.5 and "my trigger" is back and on my gen4 23!! I'll probaby replace it w/ gen3 trigger bare but this saves you that $13 and time and lets you get a normal trigger!
I have the same problem with reassembly as you had. If I just order the G27 trigger bar and instal it will I get the same reduction in trigger pull? And will I still void the warranty?
Why did Glock mess with the Gen 3's anyways? They should have the internals alone and just modified the exterior some. Why mess with something that works?
@danzak44 - just got my Glock 17 last night. I have the bump on the trigger bar and disassembly is easier than reassembly. After removing the slide and trying to reassemble the Glock, I ran into the exact problem described by Brandon.
only the 9mm had problems with the recoil springs being too stiff. there are no other problems. The recoil spring was designed for the .40 cal glocks and didnt work well in the 9mm versions. The problem is limp wrist noobs shooting them.
Not sure about that. I was having problems with mine, so I called Glock and they sent me the newest spring (0-4-3), I put it in and now I get about 75% of the casings right to my face. No limp wristing, I'm not a "noob" and I know how to shoot a gun. It's not just the spring.
@bwolffdrums the 0-4-3 spring does not solve the erratic ejection. my gen4 g19 continues to hit me in the face as well. i originally had the 0-4-1 spring. as far as i know, glock now has come out with a 5th spring to try to resolve the issue (0-3, 0-4, 0-4-1, 0-4-2, and 0-4-3). they have no clue what they are doing. any thoughts on how to solve the casings hitting the face issues? it is probably a good idea to wear a full face shield when shooting your g19.
i bought a glock and owned it for maybe a couple months before selling it back lol i prefer my colt 1911 hasnt faild me once and has a bigger punch :)
ive had alot of problems with my gen 4 g23.. I took mine to smyrna 2 and now its running fine.. I would have rather like it to run fine from the jump but its ok now. i put the a trigger connector in and it didnt make much dif. i think there need s to have a new spring in it also..
I have a Glock 17 gen4 and had the same problem. I ground and polished the dimple off with a dremel and now it's perfect.
The problem is when you squeeze the trigger, the trigger bar naturally torques outwards towards the right by a few thousandths of an inch as it travels towards the back. The bump on the Gen 4s prevent this movement and actually binds the whole action. Removing the dimple allows the trigger bar to go through it's natural movement unimpeded.
@BionicleArm2 By the way I like the the new S&W SD9 Superior Ergonomics well thought gun . $200 less than BLOCK American. Nice serrations Relible at list as BLOCK and SEXYYYYYY. Anyting else ? LOL
@BionicleArm2 Suuuure After 100 yrs or so your grand grand children will show your gun as a high collectible Item. Who knows they might put it at Cristies auction with $100.000 starting bid. Unless the frame has been
remelted to a portable toillet. Glocks are sold to American public not because they are very good guns witch they are of cource, but because of G. Glocks marketing skills and fully understanding of the American Public.
@HiR0N7 Glocks are known for perfection? Interesting because there have been plenty of recalls... Oh I'm sorry, Glock calls them "upgrades" because of course, Glock is perfect right? Look it up if you don't believe me.
During reassembly my Gen 4 is hard to put back together. looks like the firing pin safety is dropping and the trigger bar cannot reset it to complete the reassembly. I have to manually push in the firing pin safety and push the firing pin forward to reset the firing pin safety and then I can reassemble. Any ideas?
Brandon, I have a Gen4 G19 with the bump, but it does not cause the installation issue or the extremely heavy trigger pull you had on your G23. BTW, the Gen3 G21SF also has the bump, and my G21 has a very light pull.
I have a Gen 3. I coverted mine to a 3.5lb pull. Touchy but really smooth along with the $.25 trigger job. If it ever has to fixed under warranty, just reinstally the 5.5 lb stock bar and send it in. They won't know. Mine has the same amount of travel and didn't have to modify anything other than swapping the part. I hear the Gen 4's have a lot of problems. Glad I went with a 3. The added features on the 4 wasn't worth the extra money.
Confirmed on my Glock 31 Gen 4 that I purchased a month ago. Agree with all your findings. Just sanded mine almost flat just a few minutes ago. I left a slight raise on it. I figure I can always sand more off if needed. Trigger is much lighter and now assembles much easier. I need to live fire it for confirmation that it works without failures. I cannot stress how much better the trigger is and I did not have to buy a trigger kit.
The reason the bump adds to the trigger pull weight is because it creates friction and also it does not allow the trigger bar to flex so it puts more tension on the contacting surfaces where the bar and the connector mesh. Hope that helps...
That's it!! I'm going to the store & gettin' me a fresh can of cope!! Ha ha. You remind me of my good friend who dips, I dip too but tried to stop but I'm going 2 the store right now!! Anyways, Glock has sent out a few recoil springs ex: 02, 03, 04. But now the newest Glocks after May 2011 come with 04-1 rods.Check out this video: watch?v=vokNZaUtjkQ
If you check Nutnfancy's 2011 shot show review at the Glock booth, the rep says you have to push that bar with the bump in (to the left from the shooter's perspective) before putting the slide back on. He admitted it was not in the manual for the pistol.
I wonder if the bump on the trigger bar isn't also creating too much drag on th slide, possibly explaining weak ejection problems some have had with the Gen 4's as well.
Still trying to figure out why Glock installed the "bump".I bought my G23 when I was 20, iam 42 now and still have(and carry) the same gun with all the OEM parts still intact, including the large unstable adjustable rear site which I never had to adjust and has been zeroed ever since. I can't tell you how many rounds i've put through this gun over the years target and comp. shooting and hunting. And never had a malfunction, jamb/stove pipe or anything go wrong. Why fix what wasn't broke??
sl1911,i own a G-22 & G-23 both gen3's,i've had each for several years & they have never missed a beat..im not quite sold on the gen4's yet, seems there's a few nitches to get out..
Awesome Vid. I just bought my G-23 Gen 4 over a Month ago and shot over 800 rounds through it. I figured the trigger was a little stiff because it was new. This weekend it shot great and never had an issue. I'm going to check the trigger and see where its at now that saw what you discovered. Thanks for the vid! I found your channel through Albee4ty5.
I'm in the market for a..40 cal pistol and.wanted the Glock 23 any issues with reliability or other wise shooting problems? That anyone has heard? About the 23
Mine was also 6.5#.Installed ghost rocket connector.Did .25 trigger job,Put competition spring kit(-plunger spring, lost it)Trigger pull was now4.4#.Filed and polished the bump off, tested it and 8#WTF.Problem was the the overtravel tab on the connector now needed a tad mor trimming.Did that VIOLA:3# even.Trigger feels great. Now for reliability testing.350mostly cheap rounds before removing bump with no problems. (GLOCK 26 GEN 4).
I put a ghost rocket connector on mine, along with a wolff competition spring kit.I also did a .25 trigger job.Gotta get me a file. What should my trigger pull be now+-?
Im on my way to get my glock 19 gen 4 today. Your very thorough and analytical. I liked the way you started your own investigation as to why the gun was functioning the way it was. Much respect!.
I get the occasional failure to feed only if I use a Gen 3 magezine with a Gen 4 gun. But thats only on the last round so its probably just a bad magezine. After 1200 rounds I've maybe had 1 failure to eject and 5 FTF's. Thanks for the tip though!!
i think that your 27 may be an early gen4, because i noticed that it doesnt have the backstrap grooves and a different backstrap pattern, as mine has both.
No problems with my Gen 4 so far. I think any problems they used to have have been hammered out as of the last few months. Remember, the Gen 4 debuted in early 2010 and Glock only released the 17 and 22 Gen 4 at that time, the compacts and subs came later and then they had months to fix any problems.
It's not surprising for new guns to have issues, Gen 1 and Gen 2 Glocks both had their share of issues.
I've shot my G19 gen4 about 200 rounds with the 03 spring I had no problem but trigger pull was about 6lbs. I polished the bump half way and did $0.25 trigger job just to slick it out. I measured the gap between the bump and the slide and it was less than 0.0025. I also bent the trigger barr a little inward to reduce the drag against the frame. Now is just perfect.
What type Ghost trigger are you using. I hav the 4.5 tactical right now but was going to switch to the 3.5. Are you using the Rocket or the regular 3.5 drop in one?
Man I love my glocks. But people are right. M&P and XD are better than the new glocks. Glock really picked a bad time to mess up. With all the great copy cat guns out there.
Generally slide..

I hate to be cynical but Glock does in fact claim perfection..
In so doing they cannot whine or bitch or say oops, it needs to be perfect.
You should ask yourself why buy something from a liar.
Yes I have shot three different models nothing awesome in my big hands, my 1911 now that feels pretty good.

Watch, "Zach blows out a Glock 19". Look for how much flame is coming from the ejection port.
It's Not, supposed to do that. "Short Recoil" is too short on Glocks.

I don't get it.

if you watch the video, anytime the gun is in his hand, his finger is either on the trigger or inside the trigger guard. very bad form. keep the finger up on the slide at all times until you're prepared to fire the weapon. even when i have my handgun field-stripped, when i am holding the frame, my finger is out of the trigger. again, practice makes perfect.

why is his finger on the trigger the whole time? "on target, on trigger. off target, off trigger." i know (or do i?) the gun is not loaded. doesn't matter. practice makes perfect. keep your finger off the freakin' trigger unless you're ready to shoot it, dude.

Babykitty1144 1 month ago
@Babykitty1144
Let GLOCK wait before selling it!
Glocks suck. Ghetto crap.
Real men carry Sigs.

@nolobede i've seen sigs jam and brake too. Every gun from every company can fail. the rest of your comment just shows how immature you are when it comes to discussing guns...
nimrod8791 1 week ago
@nimrod8791
Its apparent you've missed the point. ANY "thing" manufactured can have a fault.
But maybe you should do a little research on recalls, failures, jams and breakage history on Glocks compared to Sig. Did you even watch the video?... Do you get its messsage regarding design and engineering? Failure to feed &/or eject? spring flaw...etc?....
nolobede 1 week ago
@nimrod8791
The POINT was about the stupid comment regarding "Waiting" and "most likely to be fixed."
What's "immature" is your acceptance of BK's comment.
check the stats. comparatively, glock =chevy, Sig = cadillac
Popularity does not infer quality.
nolobede 1 week ago

Babykitty1144 6 days ago
@Babykitty1144
And real men don't wear "PINK," they fuck it.
nolobede 6 days ago
@nolobede
Glocks are in law enforcement because they are cheaper, funded by tax dollars.
nolobede 6 days ago

Anymore stupid responses?
nolobede 5 days ago
@nolobede Thank you for the compliment, no it didn't take me long but thanks for your concern. I did a lot of reserch before buying my gun that's why I went with the gen3, no problems whatsoever, great gun. Sig is also a very good gun, in fact Sig and Glock are very close if not equal in quality. If you actualy did YOUR research you would know that too. It's sad how close minded you are, but I do like our conversations!

Andylopez172285 1 month ago

DrTadHusseinWinslow 1 month ago

Have you had any extraction issues, with round to the head? If so, what did you do to solve the issue?
MsQuestor 2 months ago
@MsQuestor if you have extraction issues with gen 4 you need to call your gun seller or glock and they will exchange bad design parts for new which are working 100% for 9mm glock you need to have this number on ejector 30274 (i believe old was 366 - that one will give you bad shell ejections) also most new spring design for 9mm has number 0-3-4. if you update this parts your gum will work flawlessly , hope this helped.
abradras 2 months ago
@abradras Just got my G19 gen 4 today. Test fire date of Dec 2011. I made sure the spring was 0 3 4 and ejector was 30274 before I picked it up. I shot 200 rounds and got hit in the head, forehead, and face about a dozen times. This is unacceptable. Confidence with this gun is quickly dropping.
polakatl 1 month ago
@polakatl yo. m sorry to hear that :( but im not a glock manufacture , i had same problem as you and i write post about what it fixed .. for me. i even fixed my problem alone with changing shape with file of my old 336 ejector. i tell you what i would do in your case.
1) i would observe ejector , if the end doesnt have some bump and its smooth. if not ill smooth it out.
2) i would take out extractor and polish top and bottom face which is rubbing against flame and oil it with silicon spray.
abradras 1 month ago
@polakatl
6) if this wont help i would hang my self :-D heh .. no i call shop for warranty check.
abradras 1 month ago
@polakatl ..other then that .. glock has very few parts if you have new ejector, new spring and you do all i told you there nothing left to do (i believe) ..other then "wrist limping" or ultra crappy weak ammo .. but i dont think thats your case .
i did to my gun all i wrote to you , but only new ejector and spring fixed it. there is nothing more i could help you with, hope this will help. peace. :-) and good luck ;-)

SmithUSAWesson 2 months ago
I was intending to buy at lleast two new Gen 4 Glocks (I wanted a G23 and a G35) and the Gen 4 models are very appealing bacause I am a "lefty" but after researching and watching reviews of all these problems,, I am likely not to become a Glock owner. First the springs (OK I could live with that potential problem / fix) but now I am definitely afraid to purchase a "scritchy" trigger that doesnt break anywhere near what is advertised. No thanks! Now I am inclined to buy S&W MP Pro or Walther PPQ
SmithUSAWesson 2 months ago
If the Glocks are that good & reliable(Before), why would they put a 'bump' in it and mess it up? Thas weird huh? Thanks

I just got back from the gun store with my Glock 27 Gen 3, I was informed that Glock will be issuing a recall on the Gen 4s for the trigger group. My $.02...

Maybe your particular gun had a problem or maybe early production gen 4s had a problem?
wscott52 4 months ago
@wscott52 I've got a Gen4 Glock 19 that has the bump and goes back together no sweat. I don't have to do any of the rocky rocky back and forthy.
Tramsootru 4 months ago
@wscott52 This part is being put in all new Glocks it seems. I have a new 21SF with the bump on the bar, so it looks like they have phased out the non-bumped trigger bars entirely. I have also noticed what he is talking about, especially when compared to an early gen 3 23, where the slide catches on the bump and you have to wiggle it a bit to get it to go on. Definitely drags a bit, so it's not just his gun.

Triggin1 4 months ago
I've had zero issues with my Gen4 19, and I haven't called for the replacement RSA. The trigger did seem a bit stiff at first, but it has smoothed out considerably just over the course of live/dry firing 1000 times or so. No complaints here, even with the nub on the trigger bar.
sinajg 4 months ago
@sinajg Are you saying it took 1000 rounds to smooth out the trigger on your Glock 19 Gen 4 ??
frankgon4 3 months ago
@frankgon4 I'm just saying that after 1000 rounds or so it was smoother. Most factory triggers will get smoother over time, but I didn't think it was all that bad to begin with.

Measured it with my scherer 3.5 connector today at the shop on an RCBS trigger pull scale...de-bumped gen 4 trigger bar mirror polished along with other internals lighter striker spring= 4 1/4 to 4 1/2# pull ith most being right around 4 1/4!!
jonboynumba1 4 months ago
I had polished the crap out of my triggerbar and guts and really buffed and rounded the bump...assembly got way better and take-up smoother. I removed my 3.5 con. Cause it was crisper without it and heavy either way. This mod worked...back to 5 to 5.5 (with a lighter striker spring) average was 5 1/4#...went home and installed my 3.5 and "my trigger" is back and on my gen4 23!! I'll probaby replace it w/ gen3 trigger bare but this saves you that $13 and time and lets you get a normal trigger!

Why did Glock mess with the Gen 3's anyways? They should have the internals alone and just modified the exterior some. Why mess with something that works?

@danzak44 - just got my Glock 17 last night. I have the bump on the trigger bar and disassembly is easier than reassembly. After removing the slide and trying to reassemble the Glock, I ran into the exact problem described by Brandon.
samsplacci 6 months ago
So, is this an issue with all the Glock Gen 4's? And thanks for the video's.
danzak44 6 months ago
only the 9mm had problems with the recoil springs being too stiff. there are no other problems. The recoil spring was designed for the .40 cal glocks and didnt work well in the 9mm versions. The problem is limp wrist noobs shooting them.
xcrazydx 6 months ago
@xcrazydx
Not sure about that. I was having problems with mine, so I called Glock and they sent me the newest spring (0-4-3), I put it in and now I get about 75% of the casings right to my face. No limp wristing, I'm not a "noob" and I know how to shoot a gun. It's not just the spring.
bwolffdrums 6 months ago
@bwolffdrums the 0-4-3 spring does not solve the erratic ejection. my gen4 g19 continues to hit me in the face as well. i originally had the 0-4-1 spring. as far as i know, glock now has come out with a 5th spring to try to resolve the issue (0-3, 0-4, 0-4-1, 0-4-2, and 0-4-3). they have no clue what they are doing. any thoughts on how to solve the casings hitting the face issues? it is probably a good idea to wear a full face shield when shooting your g19.

my glock 23 gen 4 hits me in the face with the spent shells. if i dont want to grind my bump can you put a gen 3 23 part on a gen 4 23?
kreep123123 6 months ago
I have a Glock 17 gen4 and had the same problem. I ground and polished the dimple off with a dremel and now it's perfect.
The problem is when you squeeze the trigger, the trigger bar naturally torques outwards towards the right by a few thousandths of an inch as it travels towards the back. The bump on the Gen 4s prevent this movement and actually binds the whole action. Removing the dimple allows the trigger bar to go through it's natural movement unimpeded.

Brandon, I have a Gen4 G19 with the bump, but it does not cause the installation issue or the extremely heavy trigger pull you had on your G23. BTW, the Gen3 G21SF also has the bump, and my G21 has a very light pull.
Cope1024 7 months ago
I have a Gen 3. I coverted mine to a 3.5lb pull. Touchy but really smooth along with the $.25 trigger job. If it ever has to fixed under warranty, just reinstally the 5.5 lb stock bar and send it in. They won't know. Mine has the same amount of travel and didn't have to modify anything other than swapping the part. I hear the Gen 4's have a lot of problems. Glad I went with a 3. The added features on the 4 wasn't worth the extra money.
Primal67060 7 months ago
Confirmed on my Glock 31 Gen 4 that I purchased a month ago. Agree with all your findings. Just sanded mine almost flat just a few minutes ago. I left a slight raise on it. I figure I can always sand more off if needed. Trigger is much lighter and now assembles much easier. I need to live fire it for confirmation that it works without failures. I cannot stress how much better the trigger is and I did not have to buy a trigger kit.
frankgon4 8 months ago
The reason the bump adds to the trigger pull weight is because it creates friction and also it does not allow the trigger bar to flex so it puts more tension on the contacting surfaces where the bar and the connector mesh. Hope that helps...

If you check Nutnfancy's 2011 shot show review at the Glock booth, the rep says you have to push that bar with the bump in (to the left from the shooter's perspective) before putting the slide back on. He admitted it was not in the manual for the pistol.

Still trying to figure out why Glock installed the "bump".I bought my G23 when I was 20, iam 42 now and still have(and carry) the same gun with all the OEM parts still intact, including the large unstable adjustable rear site which I never had to adjust and has been zeroed ever since.

Have you had any ejection issues since the removal of the bump? I understand the gen 4 had ejection issues as well.

Thanks for the tip though!!

my gen4 g27 has the bump on the bar that your 27 doesnt have.... just an fyi.

@sibirty
i think that your 27 may be an early gen4, because i noticed that it doesnt have the backstrap grooves and a different backstrap pattern, as mine has both.
sibirty 10 months ago
@sibirty thats because his 27 is a gen3
