You can now take HD movies with sound on demand. This is because the camera has a dedicated Movie button that allows you to start shooting movies even if it is not in Movie Mode.
If the companies were giving the reviewer the cameras, they would be buying his opinion. How could you give a bad review when you are getting free cameras given to you all the time. That would be a classic 'conflict of interest'. I would not want to listen to a reviewer who is bragging about a camera he gets free for doing the review.
I'm not sure what camera to get. I don't know much about cameras but i do know what i want, one with a articulated screen (like the one in the video), it needs to take very good quality pictures and videos. Atleast 720 HD. any suggestions?
Hi Gordon. Is 208US$ a good price for a refurbished SX10 IS? I have the option of returning my problematic S60 (dial issues) and exchange it for a different model through their "Canon Loyalty Program" here in the US. I was given the option to choose from several different, newer models, and the SX10 caught my interest. Your reviews are the most professional I've ever seen. They should let you keep every single camera you review. You deserve it. Thank you very much.
Im wondering, is it possible to record a video with the flash on? Like if you were to film in a dark area, can you turn on the LED light of the camera, or does it only serve for flash in photos?
all you gotta do is sign up to the gadgets link in my video
this will take you to a website where to earn the camera you have to follow 3 steps: signing up, completing a free offer and referring a few friends how ever i have discovered a way to receive your camera without completing an offer!
its not a hack or anything untrustworthy like that its info that not many people no!
so as soon as you've signed up to my link message me and il tell you!
What happens to the cameras you have reviewed? Do you sell them off cheap? If so I want the SX10 is. I'll give you £200 for it since its been opened and messed about with in your digital digits.
@pingtran cheeky.... he isnt going to sell you a camera at a massive discount because he 'messed about with it' . you really think he buys hundreds of cameras and sells them off to scroungers like you? I dont think so
With NiMH rechargeable AA's, my camera hasn't matched Canon's 600 shots per charge claim...but it isn't half bad at all; I'm averaging 300-350 shots per charge (which is on par with typical Li-Ion brick batteries). Just don't use alkaline AA's in it, they'll drain extremely fast.
Quick question, if it's alright: I'm having trouble with the aperture settings. No matter what setting I have it at, the depth of field stays the same and I can't seem to get a smaller depth of field. Any tips?
The SX10 IS does not have a constant-aperture lens, so if you set the aperture at F2.8 (for example) at wide angle...it won't stay that way if you're shooting at full telephoto (where it will slow to F5.7).
I like this camera very much, i want to buy it but in Georgia it costs nearly 600$ wit 2 years garantee! it is very expensiv :( But the other problem is that, is it comfortable to carry, is it portable? or its big and heavy?
Very rewarding choice: The goods: -fast start -good colors -awesome telephoto and stablizer -incredible low power consumption/ support for AA batteries/accumulators Th bads: - a 12MPixel version released few months ago, -No Pixel mapping (Unlike Olympus Canon and other camera developers are not providing this easy fix for stuck/burned pixels) - loose part inside you can feel if you move the camera on objective axis.(not a real proble though) -some optical aberrations/expected for this telephoto
I love this camera! I have one but I still haven't learned all its functionalities and features. Does any of you know any video tutorial for this camera?
it scored a 81% compared to the SX10 IS coming in at 87%.I suggest you read the review, there usually great with the info and comparisons.I plan on buying the

hi there Gordon, I do have a question for you again.. I just bought my Sx10 is thanks to your reviews :) and I'm loving it... is Speedlite 220EX external flash compatible with my camera? I have read it your website but i want to make sure...thanks...

Hi, I can only comment on the cameras I've tested, but there's quite a few I've done at cameralabs . com which I haven't done videos of here, so check them out! The models I'd recommend are in the best buys section.
which camera should i buy the Canon SX10 or Panasonic Lumix FZ28???? i'm confused Gordon need ur help....ASAP..... i want good res images + good quality videos....
could someone please tell me whether or not this camera has an open shutter feature for those really cool pictures where the lights drags and makes light-streaks? That would be a huge selling point for me.
I bought this camera at Office Depot surprisingly much cheaper than Best Buy and my only trouble was downloading movies on to my MAC ...this camera software might be better for Windows ...anyways is a great camera!
I download the movies i made on my Mac and I had no problem viewing them. Previously I installed the supplied software. I used it to view the items. Hope it helps!
I want the portability and design of the SX200 with the features of this one. I guess the slightly better picture quality as well as the 20x zoom will sway me, even though it's a little too bulky for my taste. Oh, well.

thanks Gordon. I've seen the site and it's very very helpfull.. im more interested with sx10 is now after reading your verdicts... I still have questions tho.. are Videos recorded with sx10is easy to edit using moviemaker? if not where is can i domy editing? thanks again Gordon...
Omg, Finally a good review. I'm in love with photography (I'm 15) And I think this camera would be great for a beginners camera. Now I just need to save up 400 dollars :(
I've read a lot of reviews from people that say this camera doesn't have a lens tether. I took one out of the box at Walmart and it did have a tether. Does it or doesn't it?
Well done detailed review. I'm annoyed they limit the self timer to 10 pictures at a time(according to the manual) but I suppose it's a way to get a person to move to the next level. I'm still trying to decide but this review helps.
hello there, i just have a quick question for you, i bought this camara and i think is great but it have some problems that i want to make sure that i am right, when using M (Manual) Mode you can adjust anything but the Exposure, is done Automatically wich in my opinionis bad. so am i right or wrong? and if you can adjust it can you tell me how? well thanks

It's hard to get a shallow depoth of field on a non-DSLR. Your best bet is to zoom the lens in a lot and make sure your subject is close.
