The length and weight of the chuck and grinding pad are putting a strain on the front motor bearing. With your machining skills you could make an arbour for directly mounting your sanding disk to the motor shaft. Just got a cheap motor in Egypt so I'm going to play with that. Thanks for the vid.
@WeaponCollector thanks Mike. still more work to do on this little grinder. I hope somebody out there can take my idea and make something like it to their benefit.
handy tool bob love the zsip lock bag i do the same thing i went to a big effort to match my taps a dies with the rite drill it make things so much easer
@MrMyshed thanks travis. i am still going to do more work on such as rubber feet and a support under the motor to help dampen the vibration. its not finished yet. but it still works as it is. thanks again from Bob
@theartzyboy thank you , your right it is loud , but it will serve my purpose it was also just a idea i had so that others can be inspired to do something like it.
I like it, quick and dirty. Perhaps in the future you will use this wonderful motor and speed control to belt drive a proper mandrel. See grizzly. com /products/ G5548 . Take the spaces out, youtube does not allow links in comments. This would give you the rigidity and precision to do many tasks. Those motor bearings are really not very big...
@enganear thanks very much, i can do that for sure, it is just a cheap and dirty, also just to show others that nothing is trash, everything can be used again. i will take a look at grizzly soon as i can, thanks for the tip.
@camochannel1 - I applaud your resourcefulness, I also recover before purchasing whenever possible. I have a 3600 rpm oil burner motor with a 1/2" chuck mounted in an angle iron frame. I have not found much use for it since I purchased a HF belt sander and should probably sell it in a yard sale or Craig's List. I like the variable speed capability of your rig.
@enganear thanks very much. soon i will add some rubber feet on the bottom plate i will get those feet from a old home stereo. i will also add a shim directly under the motor for more stability and sound damping. thanks again from Bob

I have used old mud flaps from a semi to make vibration and sound dampeners. Works pretty good cut to size.

@strube1369 yup, i have seen those used on full size grinder stands
