Absolutely correct Pat. Sadly believers render themselves immune to rational thinking. The word that most effectively insulates believers from rational thought is righteousness.

The Righteous are promised heavenly gifts. The Righteous can thus feel chosen, blessed and superior to the rest of us. Throughout history the Righteous declared war on those who think differently, labeling them Heretics and thus justifying in their sick minds the most horrendous tortures in the name of religious truth.
