You check out what the Japanease are riding - they buy old knuckle heads and shovels chop them down to a bare bones real chopper. They put the yanks to shame - I want a chopper and you bet I want one that the Japs have - harley has lost the plot - it used to be youd get a chopper cheap as chips compared to one off the shelf, now they want $20 - 30,000 for one. Forget it - id rather a 5150 Hardknocker (cheap and nasty) bring em to Australia they rock and are at least fun - like the old days.
Same here, I'm building a bobber from a '77 Kawi. Harley's are for doctors / mid life crisis now days. I'm a uni student, so I can't afford fuck all out of the box. I'm chopping this bitch on a $1000 budget (including the bike purchase).
Here's the deal, true bobbers will always be made in the backyard, because the people that like them, can usually make them. People with money like fat tires in the back.
The long stretched out rides are nice, but there's no school like "old school". Chrome,brass,copper,and flat black with hand painted pinstriping. One of the best bikes OCC ever did was the Cody Old School bike.
