In Kansas, it is illegal to perform a late-term abortion if birth will not cause significant medical detriment or harm to either the mother or the child.
Tiller was found not guilty of not consulting with an independent physician, NOT of performing abortions for "any reason". That was not even part of the trial and no charges were brought against him for that.
