I work at a daycare, and seeing her put two together and patting them like that-- that is exactly how we do it @ work. Haha. All through out the day there will be a child pretending to put the toys down for nap and patting them this way-- so cute to watch!

@NadiaEveStudio ha ha We're pretty strict, too. We let Nina spread her stuff around when she is playing, but she has to clean up when she's finished. Her room gets pretty messy, though.

Yeah, I have been speaing to her in English since she was born, so she understands me fine. The problem is getting her to speak in English.

I'm not sure where Nina's motherly instincts come from.  We never taught her to be like that. She does have favorites, though, and she is pretty strict when she scolds the animals she doesn't like so much.

Hopefully if you are a parent some day, you won't treat your child the way you did your dolls ; )

That's hilarious! She's a treasure! I love the mothering part where she's going to pat everyone so they'll all be happy. The toilet training thing is a hoot - wipe, toss, flush with foot! LOL!

Yeah, toilet training is a big topic around our house. I'm sure you went through it with Kenzie, too. The flush with foot thing will come in handy when using not so clean public facilities. LOL

As for mothering, I wonder where that instinct comes from? I guess it's just part of learning how the world, and relationships, work.

Children imitate what they see and what happens to them. Therefore, someone (you? mama?)has shown her how one cares for others. She's picking up on that, and imitating it. Someone (or both of you) are dong a good job.

Funny, we never pushed the toilet training with Kenzie, just held out the promise of big girl panties. But she eventually got it.

Thanks, Amy! Yes, she is very encouraging when it comes to toilet training her animals. The funny part is, she's still in the process herself. We need to take a page from Nina's book and not criticize her when she fails to make it to the toilet, but just praise her when she does. It's funny what a mental hurdle toilet training can be. We talk and philosophize with Nina about everything under the sun, and yet she will still sneak off somewhere and have an accident now and then.

Yeah, well, she's almost three now so she needs to carry some of the load around the house. She wanted the animals, so she has to take care of them. Don't want any underslept, grumpy animals poopin' all over the place.

That's the kind of dad/husband I want to be one day. Nice. Usually the mamas/wives are harried cause papa never spends time with the kids so she has to do it all. Good job!

Ha ha. Thanks! My wife and I have switched stereotypical roles in a lot of ways. I do work, but my wife works longer hours, takes care of the bills, insurance, condo meetings etc., and in return I do a lot of the cooking and cleaning. We take turns hanging with Nina so one or the other can have some down time. It seems like a good balance, and I'd certainly rather play with Nina than be stuck in an office all the time like most Japanese husbands.

Same DAY as Nina, actually. Nina's due date was August 1st, but she came 10 days late. If your mother is anything like my mother, she is going to love having a grand daughter. Will it be her first?

Yes, Nina loves to imitate people and animals and things. If she tries to tell me about something and I can't understand her, she imitates the person or thing, and then I can always understand. Maybe she will be a commedian and do impersonations when she's older.

Thanks! In Nina's older videos I used to put the Japanese, too, but now she speaks so much that I worry the subtitles will get too congested. If I have scenes where it seems like it will work, though, I'll put in the Japanese too.

Yes, of course Kaba-chan gets a bed. Kaba-chan is one of Nina's top three animals, along with Booh-chan and Pooh-san. The can of beer toilet technique is only for emergencies ;)

Yeah, she's funny about mistakes, how she apologizes for them. The funny thing about the diaper is that Nina still wears diapers herself! (Well, mainly just at night, but still...)

So cute! :D reminds me of my times in Japan, I used play the stuff animals with aya chan whenever she visited me. Toilet training is a good idea! I usually only played the classroom, the restaurant, the doctor and the fudosan so far! ^^

How old was Aya-chan? Nina's favorite kind of play involves eating. Second is sleeping. What is fudosan? You mean "real estate agent"? Nina was into insurance for awhile. Ha ha.

Aya chan was 5 when I first met her, and was 9 when I last saw her. Her fave plays involve the paying process. :D

Yup, the real estate agent. I'll usually plays the biggest rirakuma as the fudosan and show her around the "houses" which includes the bedrooms, ofuro, yachin infos, how big the rooms in "jo" tatami measurements and how far from the eki. And she'll be the okyakusama, sometimes they're just married with babies, sometimes ryugakusei looking for apartments and stuff like that. hahaha
