  • the wrist is an important part of drumming, it has to be strong but you use your fingers allot more than your wrist for control. How else are you supposed to control the bounce back?

  • Just so you know, drumming is not all in the wrist. It has almost everything to do with the fingers. Also you are explaining everything completely wrong. The opposite of an accent is a tap. You don't always have to play rudiments with accents. You probably shouldn't be making videos about rudiments or technique until you have mastered both yourself. The art of rudimental drumming is very challenging and the last thing we who have mastered it need is another improper example of how to play.

  • Ty dude

  • Descriction. :))

  • i got a nice buzz while watching this video, lol

  • This is pretty poor. The majority of drumming technique is ALL in the fingers. You use the three back fingers to help the stick bounce. You don't see professionals using only their wrists, if they did, they would have no speed.

  • Drumming is all fingers......

  • @CalebBusie4L no its not, its really is about fulcrum. and its different through everyone else retard jkjk lol :D

  • Thanks! That really helped me!

  • thanks wee man, appreciation from Scotland for your video

  • Sucks

  • thanks for sharing, u made an effort to that, as oppose to those whose efforts are only typing uneducated childish comments

  • Thanks, good vid man!

  • ^^

  • HAHAHA THIS IS SO BAD.

  • your dumb you use soo much finger its not all in your wrist traditional is way better and easier. you are suppost to use mostly your middle finger and fulcrum.

  • bad

  • My pad is almost the same XD

  • Good job boys im a trumpet player but also a pretty beast snare drummer according to my friend witch is 1st chair snare in all district :) u helpd me learn new things and reveiw what i allready doing thank u :)

  • But... you only have four fingers on each hand?

  • you never never never never use your wrist you always always always always use your fingers this is just horrible your paradiddle is .. well not really good your two stroke rolls are well your playing them wrong you need work

  • im surprised the thumbnail wasn't of travis barker

  • Not good

  • i hav tht practice pad and those sticks

  • this vid is great but its better holding the sticks the traditional way and also lossen up a bit relax and be around three inches frm the head when you do your paradiddles and do your accents in around six inches frm your head unless your playing abit louder move to 6 inches and accents on 9 inches frm the head ive been practicing almost 7 years now but other than that nice video and remember to never give up

  • Your holding your sticks WAYY jacked up.

  • awful ..

  • Lol horrible diddles I understand ur probly middle school concert band. But get into a college drumline, and u will know ur poop..

  • Damn ur good cuz I tried to do this and I tense up so freaking much :)

  • It's funny how bad this video is.

  • Your diddles suck clean them up......

  • Im 13 and im on the snare line at my high school. u suck ass.

  • 2 bad i have no freakin idea what it is if i am a beginner bcuz u never told us what it is

  • @colt99100 shut the fuck up its a LESSON. btw i just turned 13 and i can play ditty snare and quads. I can also do all bluecoats music for snare and quads. sit down

  • very wrong and uneven sorry u need to learn before u can teach

  • You suck... a lot... Your pad is a cheap ass piece of shit too.

  • That's cute! Kinda choppy though... try to tighten up your sounds and be a tad more consistent in your sound. Other than that; of couse you know you kinda messed up with hitting your sticks together... lol. Other than that; good job!

  • don't teach

  • i like even though i can play this stuff perfectly good job dude :D

  • meh.

  • U suck nuts I'm 13 and can play electric wheel chair

  • Match grip makes me want to break your sticks.

    Traditional all the way.

  • No space between a 5 stroke role. It's continuous.

  • the para-diddle is not a beginning rudiment, its probably the most well known, but it should not be of a concern to a beginner drummer/percussionist. you should start by teaching proper, natural grip and how to hit the drum. Then move on to reading music starting with whole notes and half notes and quarter notes and various combinations. Some people stress learning rudiments first but the reality is that understanding the music and how it and the rudiments are formed is more important and vital.

  • whats a paradoole ?@ at 1:07

  • heyy i got the same practice pad!!!!!! lol im in the band

  • try traditional?? and be more relaxed. You should use more finger than anything else

  • if ur gonna teach snare, use traditional on ur left

  • correction: more in the fingers

  • yeah try working on double strokes and cleaning things up before you teach people the wrong things. just sayin. you should be a intermediate to expert player before you try teaching beginners. beginners dont wanna learn from other beginners. idc if youve played for years if thats the case dont drum at all. cause youve obviously havent gotten any better. not tryin to be hateful just sayin beginers should learn from a more advanced player.

  • Why would you teach people to accent paradiddles on purpose?

  • ....WRONG... that is all

  • i have the same drumsticks to im in band to

  • Comment removed

  • @OliviaMarieABC Okay..First of all, who cares about whether or not the sticks are held "according to quads" or "according to snare". Some people may not find it comfortable, and or can not do it. Second of all, it depends on what you're doing. If you're in marching band, this may be so, but if you're trying to work on speed and technique for playing drums, then it honestly doesn't matter. A valid point: The video wasn't made to show you how to hold drum sticks. It was made as help for practice.

  • First of all real drummers use TRADITIONAL not MATCH GRIP. THANKS! :) and yes u were a bit sloppy. But perfect practice makes perfect players. Keep at it!

  • Ok For 1 those paradiddles was 2 fast for u they were supper crappy lol that double stroke was way to hrd to evn say they was sloppy double strokes and tht 5 stroke roll welll u slowed down on ur accents lol Keep practicing you will get there

  • wow..dont make videos.if you cant play it

  • really isnt a great video u explained the match grip wrong and traditional is best in my opinion im in eighth grade in my schools symphonic marching band and the double strokes r very uneven i take private lessonsfrom a former dci blue stars member and the way ur teaching rudiments is all wrongs u also should of explained flams

  • @prophetofdoom41 i agreed with you untill you said pwn bitch... then my respect was lost... HAH sped up.... ur paradiddles are VERY "sped up" .. hahahahah... Try to articulate your words a little better as well, You're good for a beginer, but i reccomend switching to traditional grip, and trying to master your diddles, trying to get them evenly spaced. Other than that, you're good for a kid.

  • @prophetofdoom41 Dude he's right! God take some criticism. Maybe you would be better if you listen.

  • @prophetofdoom41 Dude he's right! God take some criticism. Maybe you would be better if you listen. If you are going to give lessons make sure you play what your teaching the right way.

  • @prophetofdoom41 your an idiot

  • @prophetofdoom41 pwn bitch

  • @123samard Okay first of all DCI is for rudiment based snare play, although this is used in conjunction with kit play, he is sloppy I give you that but he is young and learning, just like you. As for DCI I hated it and would never recommend such robotic play to anyone.

  • @123samard Blue Stars....ha

  • ok well here are some tips for you ... you need to pratice kid your like a 7th 8th grader ok the real shit is in high school and you suck at telling people what to do i mean really before you do something like this make sure you know how to it comepletely i would lisen to anything you told us im in a drumline and thats were you learn some crazy stuff and your 5 stroke well you kinda fuck up on it repeats its self but i mean this wasnt that bad i guess begingers could learn something of this

  • wats thats called that yr playing on?

  • @Pappage25 to me that looks like the snare from an electric kit... but i think what ur looking for is a Practise pad.

  • lol

  • good fer---uhhh..... when you wanna go faster???

  • Nice job but on the double stroke roll try to limit the number of bounces to 2.

  • that practice pad sounds like a crapy tom tom

  • @DrummerBoyJustin its a practice pad...who cares

  • i have those exact sticks and practice pad

  • you should get a rubber pad, it sound alot better and cleaner.

  • you didnt explain the double stroke roll very well.

  • Thank guys , very helpful!

  • Thats a great video. My son needs help, I'm going to show him this video. Please make more beginner videos. Thank you.

  • alright srry its taking me so long my webcam got moved downstairs and i havent bothered to

  • what is the brand name of that practice pad? Or is that what it's called? I am wanting to take up the snare drum in order to join a pipes and drums band and think this would be an excellent tool to practice on. good job on the lesson!

  • its a ludwig i got it at school lol i dunno you can buy all sorts of practice pads from like guitar center

  • Come get it nigga it was in the jam room sitting on the drum stool

Aye i accidently blew one of my dads $3000 poweramps

  • damn that sucks how pissed did he get

  • Not that pissed lol

  • haha very funny beau lol

  • thanks man.

    really helped

  • shouldnt it be prophet's of doom41?

  • hey beau exactly how ugly is nichole337 lol

  • She is VERY ugly

  • Great job, dude

    Thanks

  • you do a nice job teaching. It would be helpful to mention the upstroke. At a slow tempo, I teach my kids to snap their wrist UP during the first of the repeated notes to prepare for the accents. That way, it is more even, and keeps all motion in the wrists.

  • cheers lads, gd job...gettin there

  • srry i forgot to edit the video before i posted it but it semms like im not teaching anything at first that im just showing it to your but i do.
